Best

Love the food and the romatic atmosphere. Excellent place !!

Worst

The food is rich but not outstanding. The menu is somewhat dated. The winelist is outrageously expensive. And if you aren't getting engaged here you are out of place. OIBLTIBS...

Please Leave.... 2/13/2012

The entire dinner was really nothing to write home about. It was a pre fixe menu (valentine's weekend) so I won't judge too harshly. It was all pretty much ruined however when the maitre de came over to my table and asked if I wouldn't mind having my after dinner drinks at the bar because there was a couple waiting to be seated. I told him I really wish he would have just asked the waiter at what point we were in our meal. He would've realized I had already asked for my check. Really unforgivable and embarassing considering I asked for the check the minute they cleared our desert plates. I didn't even order coffee. Way to ruin my 7 yr anniversary with my girlfriend. I won't over analyze their motives. Just a very unfortunate experience. more

Great place for a special dinner 7/27/2011

Been here many times before. I have been to the best places in NY and the worst. I try not to let reviewers sway me since you never know their motives. The place is overpriced but the food is great. Never been disappointed. more

Amongst the worst meals ever 6/7/2011

It is difficult to describe the effects of food on a person's palate. My wife and I approached this restaurant due to the promise of a romantic ambience and appropriate decor reflective of our dedication and love to each other. more

Outstanding 5/14/2011

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the village. I first came here 15 years ago and instantly fell in love with it. The Beef Wellington is wonderful, but no matter the dish, it will be prepared to your satisfaction. The service is always personal and attentive. It's located in an old carriage house and the decor is beautiful. Very romantic. more

The Disney World of romantic restaurants! 2/28/2011

Awesome, took my wife recently ... we've been married awhile; this really helped rekindle things! more

going back.....? 2/19/2011

food is as good as i expected based on some reviews. services are better than food level. going back...? maybe... more

ROMANTIC? 2/2/2011

Dined here during restaurant week in NYC. I was super excited because of all the good reviews...but what a disappointment. The restaurant was noisy, the food substandard and the prices outrageous. The only positive was the service is very good. Definately will not be returning. more

Perfect for a romantic date... 1/25/2011

I have to agree that the portions are small, but if you are there on a date, who wants to gorge themselves? It provides a romantic setting(I proposed to my girlfriend here since it's where we went on our first date) and it has an absolutely brilliant wine list! more

romantic 1/12/2011

Great place for a romantic moment. The food is good but a little pricey. It's ok if you want to try a different ambience. more

Let down..... 12/28/2010

the food portions are really small for the amount your paying for it, you'll have to spend at least 50 bucks to get full. I could of went to Burger King and got a bigger meal for 3/4th of the price. more

If you propose here...your a jackass 12/28/2010

This is the kind of place that looks authentic through the window but when you get in you'll see that it resembles more of a 1970's basement refurbish ( with faux brickwork and sheetrock walls that were done over) than an intimate late 1700's eatery. Disneyland does a better job of recreating the era. The bartender was nice, but the waiter was an absentee drone who could care less if we were alive. more

pretty-romantic-overprised place 9/16/2010

we came here for our anniversary, it was thanksgiving night, so we didn't expect we could get a table - but we actually did, and it was not a bad location at all - close to the summer garden and by the wall ( i hate to sit in the middle of the room) we were given a table in 3 min, the servers and the waiter were very friendly and attentive. The battery in camera died, so we asked if the waiter could help us out - and he took our pictures with his camera and e-mailed them to us later on - I was sooo impressed! more

Best desserts in New York!!! 8/31/2010

We were recently at One if By Land... and had a fantastic dinner. The dessert course was the absolute best. It was my date's birthday and they brought out extra desserts for us to sample. The gianduja mousse was ethereal, chocolaty, and not cloyingly sweet. The banana bread ice cream had phenomenal flavor. The almond milk panna cotta was a fascinating study in textures and flavors, pairing side by side strawberry soda, lychee sorbet, strawberry tapioca, and strawberries and lychees. This is the best dessert course to be found in Manhattan today. Thank you to the pastry chef! more

Beauty in vain 6/3/2010

I am puzzled why anyone would give this restaurant more than 3 stars. Aside from the decor, beautiful especially the bar and fireplace, everything else is ghastly. Pros: decor, location, beef wellington Cons: service, overpriced, food more

Most Romantic 3/11/2010

it is one of the most romantic places in NYC. The food is great and the wait staff is very knowledgeable. The desserts are amazing as well. It is worth going there just for desserts, the chocolate one is a MUST! It is home made and is unbelievably good ! If you want to impress someone, that is the place to go but be prepared to pay a lot. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: pre set menus more

Top Romantic Restaurant 2/19/2010

I came here with my boyfriend for Restaurant Week and was truly impressed. It has a great ambiance, excellent service and amazing food. The restaurant is dimly lit and has a piano player on site. It looks like an old castle inside with old oil paintings on the wall. For all the food we got, I love every single dish from the tangerine salad, red snapper to my citrus creme brulee. They also gave us a sample cauliflower soup on the house and it was delish! Pros: Romantic, delicious and good service more

OMG! So romantic 2/6/2010

I love this place! I first came here for a restaurant week deal. I felt this was the best deal out of the restaurant week special. The ambiance was great. the service was good. It was so romantic, I wish I was there with a boyfriend or husband. I want to always go back and try their pre-fixe menu for $78 per person. Pros: If you want to propose, this is the place Cons: A little pricey more
