With the decor somewhere between a postmodern train station and a Soviet bunker, there is still something oddly captivating about this club. The modular seating cubes and low level of illumination complement the eclectic group of people in attendance. Although it was rather empty despite the lines outside (on a Thursday night), Nacional possesses a bizarrely striking and (if nothing else) interesting experience in the heart of Hollywood. more

Horrible customer relations, bad employee attitudes, they seemed to take advantage of the customer at every opportunity! Grade: F- This place needs new employment and or a new attitude! I will never go backand nor will I recommend it. If this place doesnt change, I dont see it lasting very long. Plus, I hate bars that make you wait outside for their own free promotion! You think somethings going on when its not. When I finally got insideit was empty. >Lame< Also, I guess being on the list doesnt matter. Can I say~~~New Door People!!! Bouncer was rude. Me and four other girls went to Nacional and were the second group in line and waited 1 hour to get in. If you had some kind of gift in your hand for the birthday boy you didn't have to wait in line. I should of just bought a birthday bag and stuff it with tissue paper. Don't waste your time! It's not worth it. We went to another bar and had a great time. Think twice about going there, even if you're on the list. Pros: music was good inside Cons: Rude bouncer more

i love the place, it was amazing. the music was off the hook, the DJ flowed great, its a little hard to get in, but once you are its really worth it. im cuban, born and raised in Miami Florida, and i have to say it could of used a little more cuban music mixed in just to give it some flavor to the decor they were going for, but other thank it was an very good experience, i look foward to going next week... I went to Nacional on a Wed, night. There was no line really, maybe because I got there at 11-ish. Me and my girlfriend got in free but my guyfriend had to pay 10 bucks... so guys if your not on the guest list be prepared to pay...even if you come with girls. There wasn't that many people there and the people who were there....eh. Good looking girls, the guys are alright...you kinda have to search. The dance floor nice, kinda small and the DJ was pretty good. It was a laidback feel ( but I assume b/c it wasnt a weekend night) and had nice decor, but I paid 13 dollars for a long island...what the hell! Went with my girlfriend on a Tuesday, so bypassed everyone else in line (stayed in the line less than 1 min.). This is definitely the best night to go - the best crowd any other day of the week. Bumped into Kevin (BRB), & saw some other TV celebs (w/ matching flock of paparazzi outside). The music was a mix of hip-hop, pop & 80s, so it was good for dancing. Drinks typical ($ avg. 9). nacional is a cozy bar/lounge with a small dance area. the people are more of the 'young' and 'hip' variety (not quite trendy) for lack of better words. i didn't find this place pretentious at all. loved the lighting at the bar. there was definitely a good crowd all the way to closing. as for the 'velvet rope', i was lucky i went late, and the bouncer was in a great mood so he let us right in. I thought this place was fantastic. The doorman was really sweet, the space is gorgeous, lots of room to sit and chill. This place is not for people looking to dance, although there is a small dancefloor, but if you want a great place to chill with friends and listen to great music, this is absolutely the place. Hey Folks! Let me just tell you that Nacional is at it's best only on TUESDAY nights. All the famous and cool people of LA come out then and the only way your getting in is if you either know Travis at the door or Allison inside, so if you don't, forget it. And guys, don't even think about coming unless you want to stand outside all night. I came with a guy last week and I go pretty much every week and the guy at the door said NO! and I know the owner and he couldn't even do anything because they get all antsy if you disrupt their door policies. If you think your hot enough and want to try your luck, come on Tues. because that is the best! Cheers people!! Pros: strict door policy, hot people, good atmosphere more

It's a pretty cool place to hang out and have some drinks. Don't expect to come and dance the night away. We went on a friday night and it was pretty crowded..beautiful people too. We got to the bar around 9:30. Some guy tells us they are open at 10pm. So we go down to cinespace few blocks down to have a few drinks. That place is nice and trendy. Anyways, we go back to Nacional around 10:30pm bouncer was being an ass. He said guestlist only and the funny thing was there was NOBODY inside. I guess that place doesn't want our money. So we went barhopping and went to Cat & Fiddle, 66, 4100, and The Well instead. There are alot more trendier places than Nacional, you don't need to put up with the bouncers attitude.... This place has had it's five minutes, people. If your social life centers around Brent Boldhouse, you've already moved on to Ivar. If your social life centers around star-gazing, you are probably still trying to get into Las Palmas or (gasp) BarFly. So, who does that leave for Nacional? I guess the legions of bridge and tunnel types who figure out what's cool on Citysearch. And of course fans of velvet ropes. more

I showed up on a Sat. night with 3 guys and two good looking women, before 10pm, and the bouncer immediately told us there's no way we were getting in. Apparently whatever palm grease we had wasn't good enough for him. The woman on the phone only told me to arrive early, not that I had to be on the list. "Thanks ma'am." The atmosphere inside was very cool, very sexy. The music was being spun by the drummer of Faith No More. He was playing a blend of weird stuff, mostly rock, that just didn't match the mood inside. But the interior was decorated incredibly, and done with good taste. The fireplaces, smoking lounges and co-ed sex bathrooms were also very nice touches. Great design, but NOT worth it! I understand the professional attitude at some Hollywood clubs, but at Nacional... some of the staff think they are superstars for tending bar??? Watch out for Misty in particular - a wanna-be actress who's angry about having to serve the sucessful Industry crowd. If they took some tips from the other high-end bars in town they might be a success. Pros: design, outdoor/indoor room, sound system Cons: attitude from staff, sketchy neighborhood, overpriced drinks more
