Best

Pretty typical prices for sushi at about $13/roll. The unagi is excellent and the rolls we had were all awesome. It is small, though, and it is very easy for it to get full so c...

Worst

My husband and I have eaten at this wonderful establishment more times than I can count. It is on our list as one of, if not the, best places for sushi in Austin. That being sai...

Wow. 7/7/2003

This is absolutely the best sushi in Austin. Fresh and well-prepared, it is worth the wait you will probably have to endure to get it. Try the Tuna Tataki appetizer - it is simply amazing. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: Crowded atmosphere, Inconsistent service more

Sit at the BAR! 2/24/2003

Here is my testimonial... I was just introduced to Sushi a few years ago and Musashino is one of the best all around Sushi bars I have frequented. The staff was very attentive and professional. The avocada kama is insane for an appetizer. The sushi is always delicious and fresh. If you can hang out and wait for a seat at the bar it is well worth it. The ambiance is totally Austin and the sake bombs are the BOMB! more

Disappointing 1/30/2003

I am very disappointed with Musashino. Mushashino used to be my favorite sushi place in Austin. However, when I visited few weeks ago, food there was just horrible. I wasn't enjoying the food at all. I am Japanese and I have been eating sushi for quite a long time, and I can tell that their fish is not as good as it used to be. When you eat a bad fish, you can easily tell because it has a bad after taste. Because of that experience, I don't feel like eating sushi for a while now. Pros: Ginger dressing Cons: Service more

Mouth Watering 12/19/2002

This is the best Sushi Restaurant we have ever encountered. We have visited numerous Sushi restaurants nation wide and not won has compared to this one. The people are friendly. The fish is very very very fresh. We visit this place at least once a week. I wish they were open for lunch? Pros: too good more

Sake it to me 11/12/2002

Excellent food, cheap for sushi, and great service! This place has some awesome sushi, I have never had better! Pros: great food Cons: far from where I live more

Authentic Sushi! 10/23/2002

This is the ONLY place that serves really fresh and authentic Sushi! As an American of Japanese heritage who was raised on the West Coast and in Japan, I've had alot of Sushi and was brought up with it to know the what to look for. This is the real McCoy! Anyone who wants to experience what Sushi is suppose to be all about should go here before trying any of the other places who are less than satisfactory! Pros: Real Sushi, Fresh Fish, Authentic Cons: Need more parking more

Chop full of yum 10/19/2002

I love Musashinos! It;s THE best place for sushi in austin. I first heard about it through a friend of mine, whose mom has been to Japan multiple times, took my family there. I didnt have anything to compare it to but i thought it was faboulous! She thought it was aas good as most of the sushi she had in japan. Its always the place i choose if im going somewhere special! Pros: decent parking, GREAT sushi, good edemame Cons: bring a sweater, might have to wait more

Great choice 9/14/2002

Musashino could possibly have Austin's best sushi. After living in New York, I thought that you can't get better sushi. I must admit, Musashino holds their own. I was very impressed with the quality of the fish. Not to mention, if you like special rolls, this is the place to come. They have about 20 to choose from. It is also a great place to come if you are with people that don't like sushi. They can order off the Chinese menu from Chinatown upstairs. more

Love it, but will leave it... 8/11/2002

I was craving good sushi on my birthday, but was severely disappointed with the aweful waitress. The waitress spilled hot tea on the table, didn't apologize or clean it up. Too bad good food and good service doesn't go hand and hand at this place. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll take my order to go. Pros: good quality food, nice to be greeted Cons: young rude staff, relatively expensive more

Easily one of the best 7/28/2002

My girlfriend swears by this place, and it is good but not worth a lengthy wait. The sushi is very good, fresh and well presented but the portions leave much to be desired. The Avocado Appetizer is a definite MUST...you have the option of Shrimp or Mussels both are excellent. They have a good selection of tasty rolls and the Spicy Sauce is awesome. Weekends are crazy packed so go early or be prepared to wait. Pros: Avocado Appetizer Cons: Small portions/$$$, Crowded more

what others need to live up to 7/26/2002

I judge all sushi place in comparison to Musashino. I cannot afford to go too much, but the times I have gone have been a treat. I had a hilarious experience with a dish that arrived on my table with moving fried benito flakes. It looked alive. I stared for quite some time, because it looked so unusual. Then I stabbed my fork into it and loved it. Anyway, the sushi is really fresh, and I do like the atmosphere. Pros: sushi, service, atmosphere more

Great sushi! 7/23/2002

Okay, this IS the best place for sushi in Austin, unfortunately everyone knows it! Depending on what day you happen to go, you might encounter quite a wait -- basically the closer you get to the weekend the more crowded it is. Very traditional preparation with a courteous, but quiet staff and an extensive menu. They even have a few non-sushi options for those parties that have a couple of squeemish ""don't do"" sushi-types. Cold soy beans are a great starter. We always get the spider roll, california roll with masago, spicy tuna roll (their spicy sauce is AWESOME!) and a few others. Pros: Great spicy sauce, Cultural interior Cons: Wait can be long more
