I was visiting Los Angeles with my wife and two of my children. We made reservations at Mr. Chow after hearing that it was such a good restaurant. When we arrived for our reservation, it took nearly an hour before our table was ready. My 13 year-old son had a good time chatting it up with the paperazzi that were hanging outside. Once we were seated, the waiter recommended making his own suggestions for our dinner; however we informed him that we would like to choose off of the menu. We each got different dishes, and all of them were extremely small portions. I realize that there are a lot of very weight conscious folks in LA, but these portions were not much more than appetizer sized. I ordered the crispy beef, and when it arrived, it was crispy, but as with the old Wendy's hamburger commercial, I was asking ""where's the beef""? None of the food tasted bad, but at best it could be described as average. I don't mind paying good money for high quality, well portioned meals, but I can get a much higher quality, tastier Chinese meal at one of several restaurants where I live in the Baltimore area for a fraction of the cost. My wife and son thinks that the meal was worth the price because Sandra Bullock was seated across the room. Personally, I think she's quite attractive and a wonderful actress, but not worth adding an additional $125 to the cost of the meal. If you put this same restaurant in a less glitzy location, and the high profile limos with thieir high profile celebs didn't freqent the place, it would go out of business unless the prices dropped significantly. What is most surprising to me is that the upper crust of Beverly Hills and Hollywood don't find a place to be seen that actually has food in the same league (with respect to quality) as their Astin Martins, Bentleys, and Ferraris.
Pros: Good place if your into the celebrity watching scene
Cons: mediocre food, miniscule portions, and exorbitant price for what you're served
