Mr. Chow has the best menu! 6/22/2011

They have the best menu. It feels like I want to buy everything from it! Well I ordered their Fried Shrimp and it tastes really good. It's a must try for Mr. Chow. I plan on having our family dinner their this coming Saturday. This is a one of a kind restaurant. more

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE 2/26/2011

I took a client here and we were both VERY disappointed with the food, service and ambiance. The food was mediocre at best. The restaurant looked old and run down and looks nothing like what you see on their website. The worst part, was that after a $140 bill and one hour of eating and socializing with my client we were asked to leave because they needed to turn the table over. I was not only shocked but mortified. I am disgusted by this establishment and my guess is that the only reason why it continues to stay is business is because of it' location. more

Nice Chinese food presented in western style 5/18/2010

I took some Chinese friends visiting US there, only because it's within walking distance from their hotel to the restaurant. So I didn't expect much at first . But we were all surprised and love it - It is authentic Chinese food in Beverly Hills. Can you imagine it? The restaurant was packed that day. We ignored the loudness since the food was so good. Pros: Quality food Cons: Noisy more

Mr Chow sucks! 11/8/2009

avoid at all costs!!!!! after being to the LA and NY restaurants of the Mr Chow chain, i was in London with my parents and decided to take them out for crispy duck - i was stupid enough to take them Mr Chow, simply because i had had good experiences at their LA and NY restaurants years ago. What a lame, terrible, humiliating experience it was: the maitre d', a Brazilian by the name of Marcelo, took my simple order of ""crispy duck for 4"" and transformed it into a tour de force where i never managed to touch my crispy duck. this cheap (as in low and diselegant) restaurant probably wanted to make some extra pounds on my bill, so the emmigr? dumped everything on the menu. i tried cancelling the duck but he made me a doggy bag which i never touched (obviously!). stay away from decadent restaurants, avoid Mr Chow. Pros: ripped off at Mr Chow Cons: terrible service, bad food, decadent more

Impressive 10/7/2009

I've been to Mr. Chow now about half a dozen times with either a client or a friend visiting from out of state. It's by far one of the most impressive dining experiences around LA. The energy in the place is very contagious and you are surrounded by a cool group of people. But what keeps me coming back here for special occasions is the food. The gnoochi with oysters is unbelievably delicious, the drunken fish is another fav and Mr. Chow noodles is a must. I always end up staying longer here because the high energy vibe makes you feel a bit like you're at a super chic party. Pros: Atmosphere, food, and best energy Cons: The wait more

Love it 8/17/2009

My favorite restaurant. Food was so good! And I'm Chinese. more

Had a Wonderful Meal at Mr. Chow restaurant 7/6/2009

I attended the Creme of the Crop BET awards after party at Mr. Chow. The event as a whole was fantastic but the most amazing part was the fantastic dish the chefs prepared specially for the guests at this event. It was a mix of Frida Kahlo tequila, lobster and fresh garlic. It was the best lobster dish I've ever tasted. I want to go back this weekend so my husband can taste the lobster dish too! This is the first time I've ever had a tequila infused dish and i cant wait to go back and have more! Pros: best lobster dish in town! Cons: zero complaints! more

DO NOT GO HERE. EXPENSIVE + BAD QUALITY + RUDE STAFF. 5/10/2009

I wish I had four hands so I could give this place four thumbs down. Cataclysmic. Completely out of this world. Pros: NONE. Read Cons. Cons: Food, Quality, Staff, Wait Time, Price, PRICE and Price. more

Amazing 4/23/2009

Believe the hype.... Great service and most importantly the best food I have ever had!!!!! more

MR CHOW BEVERLY HILLS TWO THUMBS UP!! 4/16/2009

Service was excellent. Once you walk in, you are treated with v.i.p service, noone is left out or treated different. Food was delicious. You have to be a gourmet lover to enjoy this amazing original Beijing cousine. I travel a lot to China....and this is amazing how I could find something with such class and ambiounce, with amazing quality original chinese cousine. I do not agree with some of these negative reviews written. You can not compare original chinese cousine with ""Panda Express. You obviously are not a traveler and you do not respect gourmet food. Pros: excellent service & excellent quality food Cons: maybe expensive for regular outers..First Class Service! more

Horrible 4/7/2009

Horrible food, expensive and small, rude workers. Everyone makes this out to be such a great place, it was awful, id rather go to Panda Express more

Do believe the hype!! 3/21/2009

I decided to take my wife for our anniversary, it was a friday night. The place was bumping with energy. We arrived at our table and we let the captain take care of us (we had a choice to look at the menu, but when in Rome...) The food was delicious and visualy interesting: apps were..squid ink noodles and scallops. Mains were.. miniature jumbo prawns, fiery buffalo, fried rice and baby bok choy. The thing that impressed me was to get this kind of interesting dishes, usually happens in a more sedated scene. But here, the place was alive, classy not cluby, and the staff was cool and efficient. We loved it and we'll be back asap. Pros: surpassed my expectations Cons: wish i could go there more often! more

Nothing boring about this place! 2/15/2009

I have been going to Mr Chow for about 8 years - not regularly probably 12 times in all - but everytime I go it never dissapoints. What a great place! Absolutely unique. The food is great - not your average boring fine dining fare really varied selection and presented in a fun and friendly way. I love the dumplings , ribs, satay, lobster, and the filet Mignon. the ambience at 8.30 is electric (be prepared to wait for your table) but dont worry this place has some great characters to amuse you and I dont mean the workers; the crowd is the A list in sport, music, film and TV, sometimes there is no wait so tell 'em you want to have a drink at the bar first- you wont be sorry. If you like some fun -and can tell quality when you see it -this place is classic! Pros: fun great tasting food, Cons: If you cant stand having a drink and waiting 30 minutes - dont go! more

amazing!! adding to my list of favorites! 1/3/2009

Ok it's expensive yes we get it, but it is well worth it. Just the decor alone is worth the visit, i mean Cy Twombly plates, Joseph Hoffman chairs, Andy Warhol screens, Jean-Michel Frank lights, awesome! I am not being a snob it's just give credit where credit is due! it's also a fun time capsule of early 80's nightlife. Pros: food, decor, service Cons: pricey, but it's worth it more

Did not live up to the hype, not by a long shot! 11/15/2008

I would not pay so much for Chinese food, personally, but, I was on a date with a pretty successful and well known athlete who heard Mr. Chow's was great. He heard WRONG! The server took forever to bring us our drinks, apps took 20 minutes to arrive at our table & the food was cold when it arrived. Even worse than being late and cold, it needed more seasoning. We went elsewhere for dessert. more

Overrated II 10/19/2008

Several friends and I attended dinner at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills. Dinner ended up costing us $100 per person, and the food and service did not live up to so called publish reports. Completely overrated! Yes, there were some celebrity sightings, but not enough to soften my view of this restaurant. Pros: People sighting Cons: Food, value, noisey and service more

  • In Short
Hot spots cool fast, but Mr. Chow has held the eternal flame of see-and-be-seen dining since 1973. The decor is stark and modern, and the vibe is clubby and buzzing with energy....
