Amazing Steaks!! Fantastic Service!! 8/12/2010

We had a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the restaurant! The hostess was friendly, the manager on duty seated the 4 of us in a cozy booth, our service was simply fantastic! The food - AMAZING! The steaks (Prime Rib, Filet Mignon, Bone-In Ribeye) were the best we've ever eaten and cooked to perfection! We can't stop talking about our experience and will be back in again soon! more

Best Steaks & Service Anywhere!! 8/12/2010

From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs! The service was amazing, the food was incredible -my husband said it was the best steak (bone-in ribeye) of his life-, and the overall experience was simply the best!! Thank you for a wonderful night! We will be looking for an excuse to come in soon! more

Best upscale dining... 5/12/2010

Thank you to Darren our waiter and Michael the GM. I brought my boyfriend in for a celebration from his Navy Retirement.... He had never dined in such upscale elegance.. and I knew I needed to take him to where it would be perfect. The waiter was attentive and just enough fun to be an addition to our evening and the GM came buy to chat him up about the planes he knew that a Navy guy would have worked on. It made my date feel right at home and over two hours later we were still lapping up the last of the chocolate cake, sipping wine and already reviewing the amazing ribeyes, the shrimp alexander and the crab cake.. (a crab cake I am sure I will be hearing about for days to come he was so impressed by it)... thank you.. it was a great memory and he is already talking about taking his dad to the one in San Antonio.. ...so that is the best compliment ! Pros: not rushed, attentive waitstaff, food... did I mention food? Pros: Attentive Waitstaff, amazing food more

Um...not so good 11/5/2009

Well...why we had to wait until well after 8 to be served when 15 of us got there a bit before 6:30, I do not know. What was special about the $48 lump of meat we got? Nothing. Was the $10 soggy steamed broccoli and thin hollandaise sauce worth $10? Hardly. How about the Morton's salad. No-o-o-o, painfully ordinary. Were there a lot of other customers ahead of us keeping the staff busy? No. And the final fillip, two days later, several of us realized we had one another's credit cards. The french fries were good, but I can get an excellent fry at Red Mill Burger also. I cannot recommend Morton's. Pros: nice staff Cons: cost, quality, service more

Remarkably disappointing service 9/11/2009

We went there for a pre-show dinner. We sat, ignored, for a dreadfully long time in a not busy restaurant and walked out. We opted instead for dinner over at Ruth's Chris was fabulous and so was the service. Cons: terrible service more

Worth it 5/27/2009

From start to finish we got the VIP treatment, even though we arrived brandishing a promo certificate for our meal. The food was excellent. Lastly I'd like to recognize the great effort and service from the general manager, Michael Hanke. Pros: Great service Cons: Too much food (if that's a con) more

Keg quality food and ambiance for Four Seasons/ Metropolitan Grill Prices 2/16/2009

Completely overrated and over priced. Felt like you were sitting in the basement of an outdated hotel... which is strange since this place was only built less than 10 years ago. For what it was, the prices should probably be a quarter to half of what they are to justify even setting foot in this place. Literally any other Seattle steakhouse would be a better bet. If you're in the downtown area, skip this place and go to the Metropolitan Grill. Pros: ?????? Cons: over priced, over rated, outdated decor, basement like ambience more

Morton's fails miserably at keeping resv's They ask for 15 min but relay on 30 min or better to market DRINKS! 8/18/2008

Our res'v was for 8:45, at 9:12 I asked for the Maitre d', at 9:15 we were still waiting to be seated. It's understood that situations occur. There are many that accept this deplorable treatment, however I believe that a,"Man's Word is His Bond". That having been said, if Morton's can't keep their commitments they should accept them! Their corperate policy according to Morton's regional Mgr.of Atlantic City, is 15 minutes past one's scheduled commitent. I should think then, that over 30 minutes would be unacceptable and unreasonable........BUT IT'S NOT.... When a customer finds this treatment offensive, and complains, the Matire d' believes his responsibility to provide manner instructions. After having been called the next business day by their Corporate Regional Manager.. I now know why the local operating managment believes it's prudent to antagonize..a customer. Morton's policies seem to replicate those of Doctor's office visits. So much for customer service. RUTH CHRIST always within 5 min keeps it's commitments, my kind-a Gourmet Steak House! Pros: Average Steak for a Steak House Cons: Don't bother with resv's it will always be 30 + minutes past that time commitment! more

UPDATE YOUR DECOR! Ambiance needs help! 12/26/2007

Went to Morton's for the first time for Holiday dinner. The ambiance is old and dated. I know steak houses traditionally have dark wood, soft lighting, etc. This place looked straight out of the 70's! Morton's should go check out Daniel's Broiler on Lake Union or Ruth's Chris at the Hyatt on Pine to see their competition. The service was nice, the food was really good... next time if I'm paying that much for dinner, I'll go back to the other two mentioned above. It wasn't horrible but I was expecting much more. Live and learn. Pros: Steak, lobster, service, good martini Cons: Bad decor, not very many booths more

Very disappointed 9/8/2007

I went to Morton's with a party of six, it was the first time I had ever been (and the last). Overall it was a very negative experience and several of us were unhappy with our meals. I ordered a double cut filet mignon, medium rare. When it arrived my steak was visibly sub-standard, I should have returned it right then. It was visibly smaller than the other two filet mignons ordered by our party and ? of it was already separated due to a ribbon of fat. I cut into it and took several bites before I realized it was much too rare, the center was like jelly. I sent it back. I ate a bit more after it returned but the meat was chewy and tasted mediocre. One of our party ordered their celebrated 4lb. lobster. It was overcooked and dry. Very disappointing for a $100 lobster. Overall the service was fine, but the meal was lousy and the prices seemed higher than some of the better steakhouses in Seattle. The experience was bad enough to prompt me to write this review. more

excellent steak, unique & romantic ambience 6/2/2007

i have been to morton's in seattle once with my wife and another friend. immediately when you go in the door, you walk down stairs, which threw me off. i have also been to el gaucho and the metropolitan grill. at morton's, i had filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. the helpings were huge and delicious. side dishes are usually only big enough for one person. the sides at morton's were plenty for the three of us to share, the waiter even recommended that we not get one of the sides we were going to because he knew that it would be too much food for three people. prior to ordering our steaks, they had a platter with their different cuts on display for us to see. the steak definitely had a good aged taste and unique seasoning to it. they had a huge liquor selection, including some more uncommon items-such as a 32 year oban scotch and stolichnaya elit vodka. it was a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. i highly recommend morton's for a special occasion or a romantic evening. Pros: excellent steak, unique environment Cons: i dunno, walking down the stairs and then back up? none!! more

good steak 5/6/2007

they are definiltey sales people. they want you to buy all the a la carte. too bad you get full just by eating their petit fillet mignonne. their service is good. but the fact that you feel guilty for not ordering is NO GOOOD. but the fact that their service is extroadinare and their food is bomb, you'll keep going. and let me remind you. for 5 people the bill came out to 300 dollars. and thats just from ordering 5 dishes plus 2 a la cartes? Pros: food, service, choicees Cons: parking and price more

Place for Special Night 11/29/2006

Decided this was the steak place for Prince Charmings Birthday. What a terrific place. Mary was our waitress and she was friendly without being fake or too much. The visual menu was fun to talk with her about and her description of the chocolate dessert had me wanting dessert first. Since they knew we were there for a celebration, Mary was attentive but also gave us privacy. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the asparagus was tender and a bit crisp (the way we like it) and the holandaise sauce was so creamy and added that extra touch. We bought the cookbook to see if we can make the sauce and the chocolate dessert at home. We were there on a Monday night, so there was no crowd and the place was very quiet, but I can see on busy nights it might be pretty loud with the seating so close together. I recommended this place to anyone who is a steak lover and for those evenings you want to remember for a long time. Week nights are quiet. Thanks again Mary, you made the evening very special for someone that is very special to me. Pros: Service, food, red carpet entry, personalized menus more

not a steak fan... 11/21/2006

...but I still enjoyed my time at Morton's. We ordered a steak and seafood combo (a promotion that was being run a couple months back), and were very happy with our choices. The prawns were enormous, and each one felt like a meal within itself, while the side dishes were equally satisfying. I know that Morton's offers pre-theatre dinners that offer a variety of dishes. I think that I will take them up on that within the next few weeks! Pros: great service Cons: parking, unless you valet more

Morton's Seattle not a good reflection on the chain.... 10/7/2006

We've have dined at many Morton's across the country. It's always been a special experience. Last night we dined at the Seattle restaurant and it was very disappointing. I realize they have to cater to the Seattle shopping crowd, but people showing up in sweats and tennis shoes completely detracts from the fine dining experience. Then there was the server who when I told him my martini had a strange flavor and to please replace it he stared at me blankly, did not utter one word, and took it away and replaced it with a martini that was not the same as I had originally ordered. He handled the matter really, really badly. The restaurant was super busy and it felt like I was at Stuart Anderson's. The food was ok, steak was good enough, but it will never hold a candle to Daniel's or Canlis or even Ruth's Chris. It used to, but not anymore, sadly. Pros: Nice wine list Cons: Poor service, poor drinks, lack of dress code more
