I took my girlfriend out to Mona's last Friday night for our weekly date night. When we arrived (around 6:30pm) the lounge and dining room were already busy, but we were greeted ...

My boyfriend loves this restaurant and has been raving about it since the day we met so we decided to go for dinner on Saturday night. It was a pleasant night and not too busy. t...

new chef at Mona's 9/16/2006

I loved the food and atmosphere of this little gem. My friends and I tried both the meat and meatless dishs prepared by Chef Micah Windham, (He came out and personally checked to make sure that everything was just right... and he was sooo cute!) and while talking we found out that he recently changed the menu quite a bit. I don''t know what the old stuff was like but the new foods were Great! more

Great atmosphere 5/4/2006

When you walk into Mona's it feels like you've found a little gem, rather than just stopped in to fill your stomach. It's a great place to go have lunch with the girls, or have a special date night with your guy. I always have a good time here. more

A no smoking Mona's is a better Mona's 3/27/2006

This great little neighborhood restaurant just moved up a notch on my go to list. The No Smoking ban has made me say "Yes!" to Mona's when girlfriends call instead of "Can't we find some place with no smoking." This is because I love the intimate environment, their wonderful menu and their consistently good cosmopolitans. They have great appetizers that make a perfect meal. I particularly enjoy their unique antipasto, which is more NW than Italian, their tasty spicy chicken empanadas and, my very favorite, mussels cooked in a wonderful broth with crusty bread for dipping. If you haven't been to Mona's in awhile due to the smoke then give it another try. more

A little average 1/17/2006

The first time I went here I was charmed. The music was wonderfully esoteric and the wine list seemed to be moving in the right direction. The last time I was here though the place had been redesigned and place seemed to have been restructured to make conversation impossible. Also the the drink menu had not made the much needed additions to its wine list. Food and drink at Mona's is very overpriced and customer service simply did not exist. more

Beautiful atmosphere, maybe not so great for vegetarians 1/4/2006

I think this is the perfect spot for a romantic cocktail, especially if you like jazz and you don't really want to talk but would rather drink a sexy drink in a sexy place listening to sexy music while stealthily running your hand up his leg under the table. Ow! On the other hand, the vegetarian dishes really aren't that great, but I've heard that the non-veggie dishes are pretty pleasing. more

Most Romantic Dining Room! 12/5/2005

If you are looking for the most sumptuously decorated, romantic and loveliest place to take your sweetie, take them to Mona's. The diningroom is beautiful with all the purples and reds and it is the ONLY place in all of Seattle where I know to get Duck Confit (which if you don't know is a duck hind quarter, slow roasted and then sealed in its own, rendered fat for weeks and then fried to maintain it's crispy, mellow flavor) which they rotate monthly through a variety of sauces. They have extraordinary salads and soups. Their menu is limited, but it offeres something for everyone, whether vegetarian or carnivore. A short menu is refreshing if you have ever waded through the menu at Cheesecake Factory or Claim Jumper and found it overwhelming. I don't know if they have good desserts or not because we always fill up on duck! But I'm sure they are as wonderful as the rest of the menu is. more

What happened to Mona's 10/30/2005

This place used to be so good! It was always busy and the butternut aquash ravioli was super. Well, I guess they decided that their bar business was more important than their food. They remodeled the restaurant to expand the bar, now it feels more like a bar that serves food too. Also, they changed their menu so dramatically that it's nothing like what it used to be. I love having great food in fabulous places and I love having great food in crappy places, but if the food's no good...Why would you go? Don't. more

Mona's 8/16/2005

Mona's is a swanky but friendly neighborhood restaurant and wine-bar. It's also a really fun place to go for martini's or other fancy drinks. It's the kind of place you might to go smoke a cigar. The food is also good, a little heavy on the meat. We tend to stick to the drinks. The decor is a bit dark, red, sometimes a bit smoky, in a good way. It's the place to go when you want to dress up a bit and be a bit fancy without being snobbish. more

  • In Short
The art-filled, ruby-colored walls make this Latona hideaway a romantic mainstay, while floor-to-ceiling windows create an airy European feel. Most weeknights are ideal for quiet dinners or casual cocktails, while the festive crowd and live jazz combos on Thursdays and Saturdays can make things noisier.
The changing menu offers Mediterranean-flavored seasonal dishes, like Pork Loin Saltimbocca with apple and parsnip-stuffed gnocchi or duck confit with lentil, carrot and feta salad.
