I used to go here in High School and college to get a cheap nice $25 hair cut and never have to worry about walking out looking like a suburbanite. Alas, in the past years they've gone to a graduated pay scale. The stylist I used to see now charges way more for her cuts then she used to (even after HS i was only payin 30-35) now I can only afford to get my hair cut there once a year. I maintain my cut by going to the Hair Cuttery in Evanston inbetween. But Adele is the best stylist in the city I swear by her! more

I had a great coloring job done here, the only complaint I ever had is that I went in with long beautiful hair. I asked the stylist what they thought would look good and how I should go about achieving my look. Without my permission they chopped my hair off to above my ears. Needless to say, I have not gone back. Just make sure that you know what style you are going to get, and that the stylist is aware of it too. Definetly great for getting those unique hairstyles as well. more

You can get your hair cut by a professional for half as much as going to Aveda or other local swanky salons. I feel comfortable going to this place, because they don't try to put on the whole pretentious upscale boutique that looks down on everyone. As you can tell, I am holding a grudge. more

This place is a great place to go for your hair, but there is a mistake that you need to not make. The people there are all rated by their experience and quality. You can get a really cheap hair cut and go with the new guy who just got there, or you can go with the woman who knows what she is doing and has been there for a long time. Pay the extra amount and get a great hair cut. Sit back and let them do their thing if you are going for something new. It always turns out great! more

I've been getting my hair cut here since I was in college, when they offered discounted do's to students, and I'm always happy with their work. Because of my hectic schedule, I'm usually not able to schedule an appointment in advance, which has never been a problem for them. I've also rarely been able to get the same stylist twice, and that has never been a problem for me. Everyone they hire has amazing talent for hair. The place is huge and open to every walk of life. They are so far above the snobbery of places like Aveda, (although I think Aveda has amazing products, they are just not as welcoming). Feel free to walk into Milios looking like you just got off of a 12 hour work day and you're too bummed and tired to speak. They will fix you up and make you look and feel like a million bucks. They're prices are very honest and they have a pay scale. You can choose to go with a more advanced stylist and pay a little more or choose a novice. Honestly, they all do a great job. I can tell the difference between those who have more experience, but if I can't afford it, I am just as happy with a newer person.. more

This edgy salon has some of the most creative and gifted stylists you'll find. Whether you're looking for a conservative style or bright orange dreads this is the place to go. Everyone here is great at creating a look just right for you. The prices are also much lower than at some of the more pretentious salons that dole out cookie-cutter looks. more

I have known Ekelo for about a year and he really is the only person I trust when it comes to hair. He really listens to what I need and gives me something that always looks great even when it's growing out. The thing I love about Ekelo is he does a lot of hair shows and the knowledge he gains from these shows he uses at the salon. I really like the fact that he constantly educates himself on the latest techniques. I have recommended him to my most picky friends and all love his technique. I can't wait until he opens his own salon. more

A popular place in Belmont to get your hair done - it's within very short distance of the Red Line stop. Although Milio's is somewhat edgy - for example, their advertising attempts to cater towards the more punkish / more hip crowd, they are perfectly capable of executing standard hairstyles as well. So don't worry, they're not likely to mohawk you without asking. As a plus, they're quite reasonably priced. I have never talked to anyone who had a tattoo from them however, so you might want to investigate that further. more
