This place has the kind of menu that's so extensive it makes your head hurt. They also serve cocktails. The food is perfectly sufficient, but the prices are higher than they ought to be. I've definitely waited half an hour without so much as laying eyes on my waiter. This place certainly isn't terrible, but there's better stuff close by. more

Hyde Park Chow 1/5/2006

Being cool in Hyde Park has always been important, and I'm talking attitude here, not temperature. Mellow Yellow is cool, as the name implies. Of course using a '60s song by Donavan as your restaurant title gives away the target market for this place: Hyde Park boomers. They are found in abundance here, in addition to younger folk. The place is known for its chili, and deservedly. Especially in cold weather, it is a treat. They have several varieties, all good. They also make some righteous crepes. Check 'em out. more

Horrible service. 9/11/2005

Mellow Yellow is a small Hyde Park restaurant that serves a wide variety of dishes, including chili, crepes, sandwiches, and salads. The food was decent, but the service was horrible. Our waiter was very rude and we had to wait to be seated, even though the restaurant was almost empty. Then we had to wait a long time to get our drinks and food as well. I will not be going back. more

Good Neighborhood Place 9/2/2005

Mellow Yellow has everything you would want including breakfasts, BBQ chicken, and mexican options including very good chilli made several different ways. This is a good local neighborhood restaurant. more
