Best

Probably the best Japanese restaurant this side of the world out side of Japan. Most Japanese restaurants here are either run by Chinese or Korean owners, but this is real authen...

Worst

Pretty average food, but somewhat cheap. Sashimi was a little dry and udon was only noodles and broth....

Who likes to wait 9/3/2003

On the first pass we weren't ready with our order and that ended up costing us 45 minutes to get the server back to the table. Once the sushi arrived it was the worst quality I've had in Seattle. Poor texture, no flavor and that distinct 'old' fish smell. Never never again. Cons: Food, Service, Food more

Worst Sushi Resturant 2/14/2003

The first moment we walked in Maneki Resturant, we were overwhelmed by cigarette smoke. The smoke permeated throughout the resturant so we could smell it when were eating. That gave me a big headache. The sushi was overpriced and not very tasty or fresh for that matter. The unagi tasted very mushy and the sushi rice was too sweet. We ordered Squid sauteed in butter... it's pure garbage. They didn't serve any green tea because they were out of green tea! What the F***? We also asked for water but weren't served that either. The meal came to $42, way overpriced for bad sushi. Cons: smokey environment, crowded and noisy, bad tasting food more

best unagi 1/27/2003

go there at least once a month! love their wide selection of food. two must-eat items: yaki onigiri and shoikara (salted raw squid). the unagi sushi is the best in town! Pros: cheap, fresh food more

MANEKI IS DELISH! 8/25/2002

I love Maneki! The sushi is fresh, delicious, and satisfying. The service is great, the restaurant is clean, the tatami rooms are relaxing & enjoyable. If you haven't tried them yet, you should soon! Pros: Best sushi, Good service, Clean Cons: OK street parking more

The locals' favorite. 7/31/2002

Established in 1911, this is most likely Seattle's best kept secret for traditional Japanese cuisine. Maneki features a variety of local favorites (unagi rolls, salmon skin, etc.) to lesser known dishes such as ankimo, a tasty dish of monkfish liver in sunomono, garnished with shaved daikon. Maneki is also one of Seattle's few places serving fresh sashimi- trust me when I say uni (sea urchin) can only be enjoyed at the very FRESHEST and Maneki has never let me down. Pros: The food is worth it. Cons: street parking more
