THIS PLACE SUCKS 4/6/2012

Maggie Ritas on Kirby at Shepherd Quality of Food has gone down and the prices has gone up. General Manager J.R. Gonzalez is very rude when you complain the service. On April 5, 2012 we made our weekly visit to the former Ninfa's and they were not playing music! The reason that a patron had a sleeping baby so there was no music! What is a Mexican Restaurant without music?? It was like a morgue. They will not survive long! The one in Galveston has already bitten the dust! Bring Ninfa's back! more

never again 5/11/2010

GOOD PLACE TO GO FOR FAMILY AND DATES Pros: great view of patio, GOOD FOOD,GOOD FROZEN MARGARITAS more

I would be embarrassed 4/18/2010

The first time i went there, my girl and i had a few top-shelf ritas on the patio and it was just fine. The patio wasn't busy and the view of the galleria is nice. The 2nd and LAST time i went there with a friend we had some ritas and we actually ate. The house ritas were small and poor quality as to be expected but were still $4 during happy hr. I ordered the beef tacos al carbon and when they came out the beef tasted like a barn! I sent them back and got the crispy chicken tacos that were almost equally bad. My friend got the veggie quesadillas that came out missing ingredients. The bartender ladies were scary looking and looked like they couldn't control a paddle boat together, let alone a bar. There is a very good reason no one was in this place on a Saturday. Taco bell is better. This is Houston! Where there are countless great tex-mex places. This might be the worst i've had. These people should be kicked out of the Galleria area and forced to move to Dallas. Pros: near the galleria Cons: EVERYTHING- Don't GO more

go for the bar and bar staff not the food or waitstaff 4/7/2010

I went in for happy hour great prices. the food was decent a little pricy the portions were a a good size a little skimpy with the chips and salsa. The service from our waiter was horrible, he did not even really give us the time of day except for when we ordered our food and drinks. I had to go to the bar to get my drink, because the waiter did not care to check on us. The bartender was friendly and seemed to be the only staff person in the restaurant smiling. The manager was yelling at everyone there who was working, I do not think I would be smiling either with a manager like that. Pros: good drink prices, good atmosphere Cons: the manager/owner, the waitstaff more

Don't Go 2/10/2010

I had dinner there w/ my colleague, and left not planning to ever go back. We had several problems:\r 1) The guacamole was way too citrusy, and not enough salt. We asked for a new one, and we reserved the same guac w/ some added avocado\r 2) I ordered steak fajitas w/ no onions, and it came with onions\r 3) My colleague ordered a ceviche salad, and again it was citrusy to the point of inedibility. She asked to send it back and decided to go w/ something easy - Cheese quesadillas.\r 4) My colleague is a vegetarian and instead of cheese quesadillas was served a chicken quesadillas, so it had to go back\r 5) At this point I ask to speak with the manager, 20 minutes later the manager deigns to show up\r 6) The manager was very curse, obviously did not care about our experience and was only willing to give us 20% off; his attitude reinforced that we will not go back. \r 7) Our server though friendly struggled to communicate with us, and showed us how she had gotten the order right and the kitchen had botched the order. \r Pros: conveinient location in Galleria area Cons: Poor customer service attitude, food not what ordered more

Awesome! 11/23/2009

The food was awesome and the drinks! I love the patio....the couches are comfortable! My server was Karen and she always had a smile on her face. more

Great Food, Great People 8/28/2009

I was staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to dine within walking distance. I went in to grab some dinner, and was treated wonderfully. The server treated me like I was the only person there, even though he had a few other tables. The manager came by to check on me and asked if my server was taking good care of me. The bartenders made my drink exactly as I asked for it. When I travel it's hard to find a rerstaurant that I feel comfortable with, but this one made me feel more than welcome. I will be back!!!! Pros: Great food and service more

!!!CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD AFTER PAYING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/22/2009

I called Maggie Rita’s to find out how to deal with a problem I’ve had with the server adding on a ‘little extra tip’ on my debit card. After I had been on hold for several minutes, the manager came on the line. I had to explain my problem to her several times because she did not seem to be listening or understanding and therefore asked me the same questions repeatedly. The manager hung up on me, and then returned the call to say they could not help me because it was the banks fault. I went to the bank the next day and a representative helped me file credit card fraud against the company. While the amount was still pending the manager changed the amount back to the truthful amount. The server and the manager still refuse to apologize. Needless to say, I was quite frustrated.\r This place has no integrity so I doubt them food and chefs do as well\r I expected a much higher level of service from the company, and I am quite disappointed. Because I do not want to spend any more time on this problem, I am spreading the word. \r Pros: nothing Cons: no integrity more

Wonderful Experience 8/11/2009

A warm welcome from the hostess greeted me upon my arrival, she had the warmest and most welcoming smile. Big change!! My server was nice also \r Also the food was excellent but I notice the increase in the pricing.Other than that I say welcome back Maggie Rita's and I am going back and also inviting some co-workers and firends to come along! I do advise that they go back to their old prices. Pros: hostess, food, service Cons: Price increase more

will never go back 6/27/2009

the service was horrible. Took forever to get seated and the place was empty! The hostess wasn't where she needed to be in the first place, she was flirting with the manager or owner of the restaurant. I saw bartenders drinking on the job. When we finally got seated it took them an HOUR to bring our entrees. I was ready to walk out but they kept saying the food would be there shortly. The worst part of the night? I saw something crawling on the floor , so we quickly paid and left. I spent the rest of the night wondering if the food I ate was sanitary. Pros: air condition Cons: everything else including the people more

Can't Get One Right!...and Now Two!!! 6/24/2009

My goodness! I went back after I thought the resturant downsized thinking food and service would be better. What a dissapointment!!! The ""New"" restaurant and bar"" uses the same kitchen that Maggie Ritas uses and they couldn't get anything right to begin with. So...now twice the chance to have bad food and service...no thanks, never again.\r \r It reminds me of a guy that has a taco truck and decided to open another window in the back and say it's another restaurant on the back...but he's not fooling anyone, it's the same taco truck no matter what you call it.\r \r Also NO ONE at either side of the partician is in a good mood. No smiles, no ""how are you"", it's like going to a bad IHOP at 3:00am on a Friday night...no one cares, the staff is tired, the food and service is mediocre at best and takes forever.\r \r DO NOT GO!!!! Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Wow I love this place 6/17/2009

Worst Mexican Restaurant in Texas 6/2/2009

DON'T EAT HERE - it's awful in every way. First, the ritas are sour and have no detectable tequilla. You can add a shot which brings your drink price to $9. The food is average at best. I had the pork tenderloin and sweet potato wedges on a bed of onions. Remember when you were a kid, and you were facinated by a fridge that didn't have a defroster? You would scrape your hand across the frost in the freezer and then eat it. It was fun, right? Well, get ready for the french fries that are the stand in for sweet potato wedges - YUMMY! Finally, and probably most significantly - no one on the staff at this restaurant ever smiles - not the servers, not the bartender, not even the hostess. Oh, and don't venture to the restaurant next door - Seppic Grill. It shares the kitchen and bathrooms with Maggie Rita's - so I'm sure you can expect a similar experience. Pros: They have water. Cons: Endless more

NOT AGAIN!!!! 5/15/2009

A group of us went in for a tequila tasting and had a geat time. The waitstaff were happy, and the General Manager made sure everyone had a drink in their hand. We had such a good time that we thought we'd go back for happy hour. When we asked for the manager, we were told that the owner had treated her so poorly that she was no longer there. We asked to see a manager many times, but there was not one there. This place has changed names like most people change their socks. We thought the owner had finally found a manager to keep the staff happy and to make a difference for the guests. Guess he doesn't think that's important. The wait/ bar staff were unhappy to say the least. We won't be going back. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Pros: Nothing NOW Cons: ???? more

First and Last Time there 5/10/2009

My wife and I were looking for a new place. Went there because it's so close to home. Our bad feeling when we saw only 2 clients there when we entered proved to be totally right. They seated us rapidly (OK). The same with drinks (OK). My wife ordered Chicken Enchiladas and Charro Beans. I ordered Rib Eye cooked mid-well. The wait for main course was 25 minutes, unacceptable -they were cooking for NO ONE ELSE (the other 2 clients were finishing). The food was disastrous. My wife got cheese enchiladas, total different dish. She got refried beans, not the charro beans that she had made sure the waitress understood. My rib eye was cooked ""rare"". So pink and bloody in the middle it felt like I was eating meat jell-o. Had to return both dishes. The biggest disappointment in months. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND THE TIME. Pros: Great Location, nice decoration Cons: Everything related to food and service more

Don't waste your time here 5/7/2009

A group of my colleagues and I had lunch at Maggie Rita's on Saturday, May 2nd. When we arrived we were the only patrons in the restaurant. We were promptly seated, but had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come get our drink order and another 20 minutes for someone to take our food order. I ordered the shrimp salad, but it was delivered missing 3 ingredients and I had to ask twice for them to deliver dressing. Another person received the wrong entree entirely. The service was exceptionally bad- she didn't know the menu and had no desire to try to improve our experience. We hadn't planned on leaving much of a tip, but then surprise, we were charged 21% gratuity. There are great Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants in Houston. This is not one of them- you have much better options! Pros: good margaritas Cons: can't list them all here more

Great Rita's and Good Food. 4/29/2009

I have been at Maggie Rita's twice now. Once for lunch and once for dinner. I love the fact that this place is such a secret, it must be as they were not crowded. The wait staff was friendly and fun. The food was very good, fresh, not from a microwave. Give it a try! You can even talk to your eating partner without yelling. Pros: Friendly Wait Staff more

Waited too long 4/10/2009

We were visiting from Kansas and restaurent came recommended! Waiting for a waiter that never came to check on us, or never even got our order! Once we were ready to walk out then someone spoke to us! Also one of the waiters stole my husbands wallet. The manager was not helpfull at all! Would not recommend this restaurent unless you want to get robbed!!!! more

The Negative Reviews are Right!!! 1/31/2009

Putting our experience in words is hard to do.\r \r We waited at the front door for several minutes to be seated. The restaurant was not busy at all; finally someone came out of the kitchen to seat us. The kitchen person tried to seat us at a dirty table when there were plenty of clean ones. We asked to be seated at one of the clean tables and he looked at us as if we had asked him to do something hard. He placed the menus in a pile on the table and walked off.\r \r Several minutes later, the person who would be our waiter took our drink order only. Another employee brought cold chips and hot sauce(s) to us and we sat and waited on our drinksfor several minutes. We ordered and appetizer before our dinner that never came. We asked for water twice and finally got it. Our dinner arrived after just a few short minutes after ordering. It was hot, but the quality of food was very low. We ordered another round of drinks that never came as well. \r \r With all the Galleria Area has to offer, going here is a waste of time. Cons: To Many To Mention more
