I went in for happy hour great prices. the food was decent a little pricy the portions were a a good size a little skimpy with the chips and salsa. The service from our waiter was...

Awesome service, fun management!!!! 1/27/2009

A group of us went in for Happy Hour. The manager told us she would give us a fun waiter, since we were out to have fun! Our server's name was Dean, and he made us laugh all night! He even sang for us! The manager kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. The food and service were both wonderful. GREAT margaritas!!!! What started out as drinks with the girls became the highlight of our week. We will be back!!!! more

Worst overall spot in the Galleria Area 1/27/2009

Wow. You want to see what happens when new ownership completely destroys what was once a decent venue? Look no further then Maggie Ritas. Where should I begin... First of all, the salsa comes in thimble size containers and it takes an act of god to get a refill. For happy hour this place advertises ""half price appetizers"", but when I received the check I was charged the full amount. When I inquired about this questionable practice, I was told that the discount only applied to half size appetizers. Whatever that means I do not know because there are no half size appetizers on the menu, nor is there any other indication of such a limitation. This is a deceptive trade practice to say the least. If you order the ""chili con queso"" and you expect to get actual meat product with the cheese, you will pay an extra $1.50. I guess chili con queso does not translate the same for all of us. Additionally, the ""house margaritas"" taste like the mix you would get at a discount liquor store minus any tequila you would actually mix it with. I did not know I was ordering virgin drinks. Overall, this place is absolutely a terrible value. The menu is deceptive in nature and has been altered so much from the spring of 2008 that it has lost all its original dishes. My advice is simple, spend your heard earned money somewhere else! Pros: Location Cons: EVERYTHING more

What happened to a Great Place?"" 1/13/2009

""What a fun place it use to be!"" If your looking for a lively group of people and crowd to go with friend or coworkers, well this is not the place anymore. That is unless you want the manager thinking you have become best friends and then she will not leave your table. I guess she is nice but ""com on know"". Also you can not get a signature margarita because wait staff does not know what they are anymore. New management forgot to keep those. I miss the old Maggies and it will be hard to find the same again. Maybe another will take it""s place since it changes fast. Pros: Location Cons: Management more

3rd visit 12/28/2008

I was surprised to see that ownership/mgmt of maggies had changed. Food was pretty fair before, now mediocre. I was glad to see the sleazy hostesses gone. It was somewhat disturbing to dine in and have girls all over the old men at bar. \r \r wont be back more

AWESOME HAPPY HOUR!!!! 11/22/2008

Group of us went in to try this place out. Had a great happy hour going! Great margarita's for $3.00!!!! It's right near the Galleria, but at West Alabama and Sage, so traffic wasn't so bad. We had such a good time at the bar that we all stayed to have dinner. Food, service were GREAT. The portions were more than any of us expected. Really nice staff!!!! We will be back, and will bring lots of friends. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. more

BAD FOOD.. TERRIBLE SERVICE 10/24/2008

Food was dry, over cooked and didn't come with enough guacamole and sour cream to cover 2 tacos and they charge you when you asked for more. The service was the worst in Houston. Our order was taken and then the person disappeared. We went for lunch and it took over an hour and the place had 2 people in it! We had no refills of drinks offered to us, food took too long, and couldn't find someone to pay our bill. When we tried complaining - there was no manager on site!\r DO NOT GO to this place! Pros: Location - convenient Cons: EVERYTHING more

Will NEVER visit Maggie Rita's again! 10/1/2008

My group had been meeting at Maggie Rita's for over a year and was on the calendar for the remainder of 2008. When I arrived last week I was abrubtly told that they were under new management/owners and that the room had not been set up for my group. The OWNER then came over and said while they would accomodate us today, they would no longer accomodate my group in the future. When I asked why, he simply stated again, we need more money for the room and we will no longer accomodate you in the future. He was very rude, loud and condensending. I have never been treated so rudely by an owner in my life, especially one where I was conducting regular business. They really are overpriced and I will never set foot in that establishment again. I wouldn't waste my time or money. more

Awful!!! 9/11/2008

I was so disappointed. It was hot and humid in there when there wasn't a crowd at all. It smelled bad. The service was poor, couldn't get my tea refilled. The food was gross, didn't even get halfway through my meal, quesadilla's has grisley meat and were dripping with grease. \r Bad experience overall and they weren't even crowded. I was one of only about 3 or 4 tables with customers. I've always wanted to try this place, but I'll never return. Pros: Cute name, good location Cons: everything else! more

I have a Maggie Rita's Addiction!! 8/3/2008

I have been to Maggie Rita's numerous times and each have been amazingly delicious experiences!!! My friends and I LOVE the chips and salsas. So far we've had the nachos, enchiladas, brisket, and beef and chicken fajitas. All have been outstanding!! The portions are plenty, the drinks are fabulous, and servers are very attentive. Everyone should give Maggie Rita's a shot. Pros: Food, Drinks, Service, Plenty of Parking, Atmosphere, Patio more

Went from not-so-good to bad. 7/24/2008

I would like to start things off by pointing out that the ambience and settings are nice. People just tend to have a good time regardless of where they're at. So with that said, I can't completely knock this place. But looking at the subject line there are some things that need improvement. Our waitress seriously needed some Prozac. Try being a little more optimistic about things baby. Don't look so down and smile! Drinks were a little watered down, so forgot about the happy hour specials. Just pay the whole 9-10$, and you'll get your moneys worth, kind of.\r This is the ticker: If you choose to pay with plastic, be on the lookout on ya'z statements. I got a 'funny' bill and some charges not done accordingly! Pros: Nice setting Cons: Check it out for yourself more

Below Average 6/4/2008

In houston, you have to know how to do Mexican food and this place doesnt have much of a clue. We went for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night and the place was so empty we almost left. Unfortunately, we stayed and had overpriced margaritas and bland fajitas. Not recommended. more

Why did Houlihan's bail? 6/1/2008

What a disappointment. Food was way , way overpriced, and very, very average, so were the drinks. The place was deserted in the middle of dinner hour on a Sunday - guess that sould have tipped us off. And now they are trying to salvage things by dropping Carlos Mencia's name ""Carlos Mencia's Happy Hour"" - if I were him I wouldn't allow it. more

Terrible food, terrible service, terrible employees 5/28/2008

An employee stole my cell phone here. I was on a business trip, and my co-worker and I decided to try this restaurant since it was only a block from the hotel, and recommended by the hotel staff. The food was not so great. I mean, maybe there aren't many ways to ""spice up"" a taco, but if I ever have a choice between the two again, I'll go with a ""fast food"" version for 79 cents. We were the last group of customers to leave the restaurant, and when I got back to the hotel I realized I'd left my cell phone and case on the bench after reading a text message. I called the restaurant and was hung up on the first time. The second time I was put on hold for a while so that the employee could ""go look for it"". It was never found. The next morning I went back to the restaurant to see if the phone had been turned in and spoke to the manager. She was very nice, and really did try to help locate the phone, but it was long gone by then. There were three to five employees there that night, and one of them has a new cell phone. more

Never going back 5/13/2008

We got there right after work and we were the first ones there. Seated in a place where we knew right off the bat it was going to be a problem because no one could see us. We ordered their margaritas (strawberry) and when we got them I could barely even take a sip. They are soo sour! I then ordered a beer to play it safe but my aunt ordered another type of margarita and it was drinkable, but not anything to write home about. When our 3rd party came it took forever to get a waiter to come and take her order and for us to reorder. We ordered our drinks and a large nacho to share and after we finally got our drinks we got our nachos and they were cold and maybe a half and order. By this time there was probably 15 tables with people and they seemed to be getting their orders but they were all at tables and not at booths or at least not at the low booths. We were there for 3 hours and we probably saw the waiter about 5 times. the fastest he came back to our table was to come pick up the check to see what his tip was and I think we may have left him 1%! It was rediculous! We did inform the waiter that we were not happy and he informed us he was busy. With what?!?!?!\r \r Slow service, horrible cocktails and way overpriced for the quality and service! Just because you're in the Galleria does not mean you are elite! Train your waitstaff and lower your prices until you get it righta nd you may have a chance. Will never go back and will never recommend this place. I don't see it being there for long. Pros: location Cons: everything else more

Tex Mex - samo, samo 5/1/2008

Lets be honest, Tex Mex is all the same. Same ol' food, wrapped differently in a combination of breads, pitta, taco's and anything else that disguises the cheap cuts of meat and wilting salads. Some restaurants look better than others, some have better service, but in the end you go for the food and the drink. Maggie's food is somewhat over-priced, but you're paying for the ambience, atmosphere, decoration and location, so you shouldn't complain. A pick up joint during ""happy hour"" times in the week, pretty much empty during the weekends. Bar always seems under staffed, even when there are 3 or 4 behind the jump, they seem to be doing other things, rather than serving customers. Pros: Location, ambience Cons: It's Tex Mex? more

It was just okay 4/26/2008

the service was good, but there was no one but 10 people in the whole restaurant at 7pm on saturday so it better have been good!\r the margaritas were strong, yummie\r the food was average, i did not find that it could compete with all the other 50 millions mexican restuarants in houston Pros: margarita, ambience...the restaurant decor was nice Cons: food was average more

won't go back 2/18/2008

the food was ok, but what i didn't like was how they ""ho""stess kept getting grabbed on by the men patrons as they came in. not just a friendly hug, i mean a grab on the behind, kissing on her neck, and rubbing on her leg. so how am i suppose to explain this to my child that is 5 asking me why they are grabbing her like that, because she is taught that people aren't suppose to touch you like that. i was just disgusted by the whole thing and won't be going back. more

Best New TexMex in Town!! 2/12/2008

I love Tex-Mex, and I know GOOD Tex-Mex. I can honestly say MaggieRitas sits at the top of my list! Service was quick, waiters are always friendly and the margaritas on the Rocks are supurb! I will admit the frozen ritas weren't my favorite. But I have nothing but positive things to say about MaggieRitas! I have been back twice in the last month, and I dont live close to the Galleria area. The crowd gets busier on Friday and Saturday evenings, but it ususally is pretty empty... so fill the seats, cus I would hate to see this place go. I love it so much I am calling to see if they have a private room for my wedding rehersal dinner!!! Enchiladas are awesome -- pretty much a build your own type thing, which is really cool. They offer lots of options. But the fajitas are my favorite. Chicken and beef was great and the brisket is even awesome!!! I love that this place offers something new and a varitey. Amibance it neat and I love the outside sitting area off of the bar. CHECK IT OUT! I dont think you will be dissapointed. Pros: Excellent food, ambience, and serivice. Cons: Frozen Margaritas a little sour more

Poor food, even worse drink prices 1/22/2008

I've been here three times and every time it seems to get worse. Needless to say I wont be back there. The food quality is extremely poor from the cheap fat riddled beef fajitas, to the extremely salty ground beef. The drink prices are extremly unjustified. Stay away from the frozen margaaritas at all cost!!! They taste like sour metal!!! The happy hour prices are not that not that happy. The only plus is the decor and cool waitstaff. I've had better food at nearby taquerias that don't charge ridiculous prices for food thats twice as tasty. I think they feel justified in charging waht they do because it's so close to the Galleria. more

3rd time's the charm 12/11/2007

After short lived stints as Houlihan's and The Sage Grill, I think Maggie Rita's might stick around. Food choices were varied and everyone at our table enjoyed their orders. Prices were pretty reasonable for upscale Galleria locale. Didn't have the margaritas, but will definitely be back to try. Staff was very friendly. Bar is definitely a focal point so leave the kids at home. View into kitchen should be great at night. Pros: Atmosphere, food choices, prices Cons: A little tricky to get to if you don't know Galleria area more
