Madigan's Waterfront

Once again Madigans was a hit with our friends. We all shared some crab and shrimp nachos & brie and fruit. The chicken oscar was great but I think the cowboy ribeye was the best choice for the meat. Danny had the surf and turf which was hard to eat because he had to hold the rest of the table away from his lobster with a fork. One of these times I'm going to try and save room for dessert. Beautiful location, water view, excellent service. Each person loved what she/he ordered, from hamburgers to fried seafood to outstanding chicken salad, fresh house salad and wonderful she-crab soup. Enjoyable experience. Check this place out. more

We randomly ended up going to Madigan's on Father's Day, and it was perfect. I'm actually surprised to read some of the bad reviews, because we had an exceptionally good time. The location was great, and it appeared to be the only place in Occoquan that was doing something special for Father's Day. I had the filet mignon in the peppercorn sauce, which was AWESOME, and he had the soft shell crabs, which he enjoyed thoroughly. Our server, Lisa, was great, and provided wonderful customer service. more

I loved everything, The food was great, we had shrimp and crab nachos that were fresh and crispy. My burger was cooked just right and my wifes crabcakes were full of jumbo crab meat. The drinks were cold and the music on the deck was pieceful. Even the ducks were having a good time. You can't beat the service or the view. we will be back. more

I'm a bi/tri monthly visitor, and the southwest grilled chicken sandwich is my favorite, by far. Everything is excellent, and theyâ??ve got an impressive tiki bar. I definitely recommend them. more

OMG, I wonder how we could have gone to the same restaurant.... With all that experience as a critic, you must have gone to a different restaurant than we did. 201 Mill St, right? We had an awful experience. The hostess orginally told us the wait would be 25-30 min. I can only assume she never had worked at a restaurant before. After 1 1/4 hours we were finally seated. When we approached the management about the extensive wait and that the hostess' might be better off setting more realistic wait time expectations, he said ""I can't babysit the front, because I have the kitchen to manage."" And yes, he said he was the manager for the entire restaurant making me wonder who hired this guy. What was even more amazing was when he told us that ""at least we don't have to wait another 30 minutes."" After asking 4 times for silverware, and some bread, we were finally served our food. It was all overdone and tasted like it was fresh... from the freezer. I'm praying I don't get sick from the food, but at least I could sue for food poisoning. Even the drinks sucked. Not sure how they can serve such slop and still stay in business. I wonder what Gordon Ramsey would say to the owners... perhaps that they would be better off opening a shoe store? The steak certainly tasted like shoe leather so I guess they would have a head start on stocking it. The only redeeming aspect of this restaurant is the view. I hope I always remember this place, because I don't ever want to go back. We stopped at 5 guys on the way home to get something decent to eat. Happy Mother's day to my wife. I am truly sorry. more

That guy sounds like a customer turned down by a waitress or couldn't convince the waitstaff there was a fish hook in his primavera. I'm a seasoned critic, rating Culinary Gurus such as Giada De Laurentiis, Emeril Lagasse and Mario Batali. This is Occoquan,VA and not NYC, this little pearl would measure up.(1) suggestion, dont be afraid of Parsley,such a pleasantry for the senses. Sorry for the lack of an official critique, but was rushing to Charleston, didn't have the means to record the entire meal, atmosphere and staff (which was top notch).MGR on duty (claimed it was his 1st week, but was confident, kind and in control) was every owners dream. This the old C&C's restaurant. I have tried this restaurant 4-5 times since it became Madigans and frankly it has gotten worse over time. Emphasis on is on fried food (which all seems to come out of the same deep fat frier). The view outside on the deck can be (very) nice; however wait staff seems distracted and disorganizied. I tried sitting at the bar with my wife on one occasion, only to have to leave (pretty rowdy spot-bartenders and wait staff included). All in all, a great location for an under performing product. I'll wait for the next owner, thank you. more

My husband and I were looking to have a very budget friendly wedding. We have a two year old little boy so we were not in the position to go crazy with our wedding. I met with Cathy Madigan, owner of the restaurant, and she is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! She believes in a 1 stop shop. Our price included the cocktail hour food, dinner, wedding cake, center pieces, linens, and the beautiful setting. The location is absolutely perfect also. We were married September 19, 2010 (last weekend of summer) and with the weather being so nice, it couldn't have been a better setting than having our reception right on the water with our own private deck for our guests. For those looking to marry in this area, I recommend having the ceremony right outside at the town gazebo. The ceremony itself cannot have more than 40 people, so we just had our family at the ceremony, and then family and friends at the reception. The gazebo was $250 to rent, but $100 of that is refundable. more

Madigan's is a great place from which to boat. We love the restaurant and it's outdoor deck facing the river. Our boating club (Carefree Boat Club) is getting ready for the boating season. Ten of the twelve boats that we keep at Madigan's are already at the dock. Can't wait for the boating season to begin. more
