Best

This is a great 20's Young Urban Professionals scene. Good DJ on the weekend and for the most part good looking people. Hard to get a drink and long bathroom lines but all in all ...

Worst

. Pros: Good late night drink specials Cons: Weekends

Nice atmosphere but bartender is so rude!! 1/24/2009

I frequent the Loop. I have taken clients there as well as friends and family. I have had very mixed results. I have found the bartender MIke to be rude and only helpful to those he knew. Other times I have been in the Loop and have been taken good care of by the other staff and everything has been wonderful. I feel that when I go in - specifically on Mondays - I wait for service and feel like I am only an annoyance to the bartender. I would not suggest going to the Loop on Mondays because this is when I have gotten the worst service, other nights though I have been taken care of. So, I would give the Loop 5 stars but I could not because I would never give an establishment that high of a rating when one of their staff members waits 10 minutes to greet me each time I am there even though he has nothing else to do. Good food, great service- except for times mentioned above. Pros: food, ambience, most of the staff Cons: parking, some of the staff more

Good food, good happy hour! 1/13/2009

I went to the bar on a Tuesday night for happy hour, which was great: cheap beers and half priced apps! The Artichoke and Chicken Quesadillas were so good, even my friend that doesn't like artichokes loved them. Our waitress was a little slow moving, but seemed polite enough once she got around to talking to us. It wasn't too busy or anything and the enviorment was pretty relaxed. I will definitely check this place out again and for sure on a weekend night because I hear it gets pretty busy. Pros: Food and Happy Hour Cons: Slow waitress more

""Nice"" crowd...? 12/27/2008

I've been to the loop many times and the prices are fair, the staff is always attentive but they really need to have more control of their crowd. There always seems to be people that need to cut off, or kicked out, and they ruin it for everyone else. Last night beers were thrown on my friends by someone clearly needing to be thrown out and the manager on staff refused. We've since canceled the reservation we've looked forward to for almost a month (a group of 15, $$$) and will be taking our business elsewhere from now on. Please take better care of your patrons! more

Wish there were more places like this in Minneapolis 1/11/2008

They've drastically lowered the food quality 12/20/2007

The Loop used to be a favorite place of mine and my coworkers for lunch and happy hour. The food used to be distinct and delicious, from apps (especially the calamari) to salads. Unfortunately, they've drastically changed their menu and the last time I brought my family from out of town here, it was not impressive (borderline embarrassing after how I'd talked it up). The calamari was basically covered in ragu (no chickpeas or capers that brought uniqueness to the dish)- hardly appetizing- and the steak sandwich was soggy, worse than most chain restaurants. To top it off, they've removed some amazing items from their menu. This place used to be a gem- needless to say I was completely disappointed and don't plan on returning. more

Bad Service 9/20/2007

Well it's true. I just got back from the Loop and it was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. Food great, atmosphere great, but horrible horrible service. No attention and there were times we waited for 20+ mins. This is a plea to the owners...I want to come back, I live in the neighborhood and would spend lots of money at your establishment but please train your wait staff and bar tenders!!!!! Cons: BAD SERVICE more

Great new bar 9/5/2007

Fantastic atmoshpere, good food, great single or date scene. Almost every weekend my girls and I love to check out the scene at the Loop. Definitely one of my favorite spots. Pros: Atmosphere, crowd, specials more

Very below average with Upscale price 5/2/2007

I went to check out the Loop Bar Tuesday night with some girlfriends. Great drinks, bar food was okay, but as previously stated, NOT exactly what most professionals and after work martini drinkers are looking for. Moreover, I had horrible treatment at the bar. I nearly waited 5-7 minutes while the bartenders walked by me at least 4 times--notably, there were only a few people sitting at the bar. They absolutely snubbed me, then when they finally did came over, made some snide comment. I ended up not ordering anything further and we all left. Remarkably, one of the waitresses wished us a ""great night"" on our way out. Not taking any notice of the lack of service we were receiving.\r \r I say i'll give it one more shot, but I would certainly NOT recommend it if you've had a bad day and just want to unwind and have pleasant, attentive wait staff. Pros: Nice atmosphere, not overcrowded like right downtown Cons: Bad staffing, needs to spruce up sidewalk seating more

Better for guys than girls 2/3/2007

It was a little more upscale than a lot of places I've been in Minneapolis, but still just a sports bar. The food is basic bar food - not a single remotely healthy item on the menu, but not bad tasting. My boyfriend loves it for hanging out with the guys when I'm not around. Cute waitstaff and the clientele is a lot better than a chain sports bar. more

Horrible Service 1/25/2007

By far the worst serving experience I've seen in a long time. One bartender made brief eye contact twice, but otherwise didn't acknowledge our presence. After being ignored for 15 minutes, I finally gave a shout. 5 minutes later, he comes back and has the nerve to tell my girlfriend that hollering isn't the way to get served. It has a nice atmosphere, and the food looks good, but we didn't stick around to find out. Check it out at your own risk; just be prepared for poor service. Pros: Atmosphere and menu Cons: Service is terrible more

I like it alot (in a dumb and dumber kind of way) 1/17/2007

Great place, very classy. Some of the best bar grub I have ever had. Very attractive clientle, but still inviting enough that you can bring in your family. Great waitstaff. Managers seem eager to please. Definately will be back over and over again. Pros: Hot waitstaff more

Very disappointed! 1/16/2007

My fiance and I were excited to have a new place to go in our area, but were horribly disappointed. After entering the bar, no one approached us and there was no signing to let us know to seat ourselves. So after a few minutes we made our way to one of the open booths. Many waitresses passed us by...several times each with no eye contact or menu drop. After about 5 more minutes, a man who was probably the manager stopped to ask if we had been greeted yet. We said no and he asked us if he could get us a beverage. He returned promptly with our beer and told us we would not be charged for that round and that our waitress would be right with us. Our waitress dropped menus, but after deciding and signaling we were ready by placing our menus on the edge of the table we waited another 15 minutes while our waitress and the manager and several other waitresses continued to ignore us. The place wasn't even full! We finished our free beers and got out of there before any further frustration. Maybe it is better at the bar, but we won't be back to find out. I give it a ""1"" for its central location and comfortable interiors. The waitstaff needs some serious training, it looked as if it was their very first job ever. Pros: Location Cons: Everything else more

It's Time for The Loop 1/12/2007

My wife and I had a greal ood time here. The food and service were outstanding. Tasty, hot, fresh food.and all of it very reasoanbly priced sums up the food offering. . The waitress was relaxed, comfortable with herself and knew her craft as she offered us just the right amoiunt of attention and space. She was attentive to the need for an additional bar order and made good suggestions for diner. Questions about dinner choices were met with straightforward and honest answers. . The atmosphere was friendly and enaging and a very positive energy seemeed to pervade the whole restauarant. Contributing to this vibe were suficient numbers of folks representing sveral generations so that it was clear all were welcome. and could be comfortable here., The televisons were humming with the night's college football games which was available for those who wanted to watch while others simply carried on their conversations and partying right here and now. It was all good. RIP: Mel'ls Beauty Bar : it was a nice run. We'll rremember you. It's time now for The Loop Bar & Restaurant. We'll be back and we'll be back with friends. See you there!! more

Good looking bartenders 1/12/2007

I went to The Loop for my 27th birthday and we had a great time. I loved the atmosphere. It had the feel of a more upscale bar, yet they were replaying the playoffs on the tvs. The mix of people was great. Age range was 20's and 30's and a fairly good looking crowd. The bartenders have a tendency to spill some of the drinks, but they are very cute. For a bar that was as crowded as it was, the service was pretty fast. Make friends with one of the bartenders, and I'm sure that will help you out-I personally liked the one with the shaggy hair. All in all, I really liked this place. I have been looking for a place with a post college aged crowd for awhile now, and I think I have found it. Pros: great mixture of people Cons: the set-up is a little odd more
