Cozy, traditional American food restaurant! 10/11/2009

This is a great place for cozy dining, and home-style All-American food. The atmosphere is warm, with American historical memorabilia on the walls. The wait staff is friendly. And the food is traditional American food, like mac and cheese, hamburgers, and apple pie. I love going to this place, but you have to know what to order. Some of the food is amazing, while some is nothing special. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: Hit or miss food more

Great Place for American Favorites 12/4/2008

I have dined with friends on a number of occasions at the Liberty Grill. I've enjoyed the ribs, crab cakes, burger and fries and grilled salmon dishes. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The service is good. Best of all - it is reasonably priced. Great Bar!! Try it out when you are visiting the downtown area. You will be pleasantly surprised. Pros: Good attentive service from all employees Cons: Parking more

Fair, Average, run-of-the-mill, nothing special 7/27/2007

Very over-priced for the quality of food. Meatloaf was slightly better than diner quality. ""Short Ribs"" should be renamed ""Short Rib"" as I got a single piece of meat for $23.00. A total rip off. The veggies were fair but the mashed potatoes were plain lousy, as if they were reconstituted from the day before. Service was good (the place was empty) Patio seating was pleasant. Will not return or recommend. Pros: patio Cons: food, price, value more

This place is great! 12/22/2006

We tried out the Liberty Grill last night, and we were very pleasantly surprised. It was very comfortable and cozy inside, and the service was attentive. We had the artichoke dip (which was a little greasy, but the tortilla chips were awesome), the Chicken potpie special (great!), and the Braised Short Rib (delicious). The only downside is the valet parking is $8 which I think it a little too high, but we did find street parking (free after 6pm) a short distance away. A great addition the downtown LA restaurant scene. Pros: Good food, reasonably priced, seated right away, casual environment, good service Cons: Expensive parking more

Unimaginative Downtown Disater 12/2/2006

Our eperience with this new Downtown resturant was brief and unsatisfying. We were looking for a reasonable bite before heading to a Lakers game, boy were we sorry. The young and uniformed staff made this place seem more like a fraternity party than a decent dining establishment. The menu was boring and the food was unoriginal and bland. After tastless caesar salad and greesy macaroni bites, we decided that the highlight of the meal was the colorful variety of tortilla chips that came with our salty artichoke dip. While this is the closeet outside resturant to the Staples Center you wouldn't know it since they don't even have a happy hour to take the edge off the expensive drinks. Even the front door is a strange giant piece of wood that slams behind you, clearly they do not want you inside or to leave when you see how terrible it really is. I would rather eat the hotdogs on the sidewalks of downtown LA, at least they taste better. Pros: Nice Patio Cons: Bad Food, Bad Service, Bad Prices, No Happy Hour more
