Perfect Evening 5/15/2006

We were only spending one evening in Scottsdale and looked on citysearch for a good restaurant near the place we were staying. La Hacienda had the best ratings and the few reviews were positive. We were thrilled with the choice - we followed our waiters advice and did not fill up on the bread and tortillas served before dinner. They were enticing but the appetizers (ahi with jicama tacos and the house quesidilla were outstanding...the entrees were equally wonderful and combined interesting tastes and textures. We didn't have any room for dessert so cannot comment on that. Service folks were friendly and helpful. We will return to this restuarant in the future when we return to Scottsdale. Pros: interesting food, relatively quiet, helpful waitstaff Cons: none on this trip more

Dinner and a Show 7/12/2004

I never thought of Mexican Food as Elegant until some friends took me to La Hacienda. Our server was more than helpful with explaining the menu and guiding us to some mouth watering choices. The flavors, textures and presentations of everything we ordered were right on. I didn't think it could get any better until we ordered one of their flaming coffee drinks. The server prepared the drink table side, it looked like a mini fireworks display coming from the glass. The desserts were also just as amazing. What realy topped off the evening was strolling the well manicures grounds of the Scottsdale Princess afterwards. I can't wait to go back. My opinion of Mexican Food has changed forever. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Friendly Service, Amazing Food more

Mexican Flame 8/11/2002

The restaurant has a somewhat limited menu, I expected there to be a little more of a selection. There were no specials the night we ate, that may be attributable to the fact that it was not high season. The service was outstanding and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, his recommendations were very good. The after dinner coffee selections were unusual, there were six choices of coffee with liquor, each of these flamed and the glass was crusted with burnt cinnamon. while the selection of menu items was not large the food was exceptional. The prices were also lower than we expected, entrees were between $21.00 and $33.00 for a lobster dish. We had a very enjoyable expierience. Pros: exceptional service, outstanding food Cons: limited menu, too dark more

  • In Short
This rambling, two-tiered resort restaurant, sumptuously decorated with expensive wood, fine upholstery and heavy furniture, is as upscale as Mexican food ever gets this side of Mexico City. Start with Antojitos Mexicanos (an appetizer platter) or the daintier pasteles de jaiba (plantain-crusted crab cakes served with chipotle oil). Entrees include roasted stuffed quail and seared duck breast served with three-bean melange and prickly pear sauce. The restaurant's signature entree--roast suckling pig, carved tableside--is a knock-out, but nothing tops the spectacle of flaming coffee drinks, served as a grand finale.
