I was excited when I realized there was a Korean restaurant located so close to me, but unfortunately Koryo misses the mark on most dishes. Far from authentic, a lot of the entree...

only place you can have korean gal-bi with japanese roll 6/3/2008

their food is great, service is excellent! I think things have been changed a bit., since the other reviews are pretty old. they now have japanese roll and entree and they are so reasonably priced and taste is awesome! they are BYOB so if you bring your own wine, they will open it for you. well, what else, I have been there couple times recently. they never let me down. i had a japanese roll as an appitizer and had kal bi with bibimbob as entree with my girlfriend. it is good way to enjoy koryo's speciality where you can have japanese food and korean food with guaranteed taste with fair price I think they no longer open for the lunch. more

Great Food! 6/24/2006

I went to Koryo recently and they have added a sushi bar. I thought I try something from it and they had some great maki rolls. Nicely decorated and rolls that I have not seen in other places in Chicago. They still had the same great Kalbi, bulgogi and other Korean treats. I highly recommend this place. more

Good Intro to Korean food 2/25/2006

This is the first Americanized Korean restaurant I've been to, so I was a bit surprised/amused by the experience. The menu, which is written entirely in English, will help you manage your expectations through the Americanized fare. Good place to take your friends who have never had Korean food, but not a good place to take your foodie friends who demand authenticity. Pros: Service, Ambience, Price Cons: Not authentic more

A Gem 11/30/2005

Small, quaint and eclectic are the first words that come to mind. As soon as we tried the all organic and traditional food, it was heaven. Service was great especially with matching wine to our food. We will be back for sure with friends. more

excellent wine 11/25/2005

Went there with my friend last Friday, we had kal-bi and calamari, the kal-bi's really good!! The waiter(who is also the manager) made an excellent choice of wine, definitely recommended!! The food's great, and the side dishes are awesome, try the fish esp. The services were incredible, the host and the server were extremely nice. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Pros: wine, service, food more

What a suprise 11/13/2005

I cant begin to tell you how many times I have walked past this restaurant. Not sure what brought me in but what a delicious surprise. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and promptly sat. Which of course was funny as there was only one other party in the place. Waiter (which turned out to be the manager) was pleasant, knowledgeable about the food and history, and made some incredible wine picks for us. Music was upbeat and volume perfect. I had the most amazing kalbi I have ever had and my fiance had a great cod. Both were cooked to perfection and were served with rice and several bowls of side dishes of various vegetables and meats. By the time we left place was almost full as it is a later crowd. I definitely look forward to and plan on coming back soon. Pros: Wine List, Organic Food, Service Cons: A little warm, TV more

Can't wait to go back! 7/18/2005

Food is reasonably priced. Good service and the waitstaffs are extremely nice & helpful. Restaurant is located in a convenient location. more

Iced Beverage Fascists 4/19/2005

The food here was pretty good, but they don't serve hot tea or hot coffee between April 15th and September 15th. "It's seasonal." I think such a policy is asinine. more

Finally, Lakeview Korean food! 4/15/2004

Ideally located in Broadway, Koryo is a nice place for Korean food. Included are the standards (kal-bi, bi-bim-bap, etc...) as well as turns on classic appetizers. Wine prices are a bit steep, but the food is good. The ambience is trying to infuse a club-like theme but the music is never loud enough to offend. Lastly, service is always great. more
