This is decent Thai - I especially like the freshrolls and the eggplant basil dish. more

I order grubhub from here probably twice a week for my office - always amazing - lunches and dinners both. Huge win. more

Their delivery service and team sucks. They also fail to acknowledge that you've placed an order, so you're constantly left wondering when your food will arrive. I have also experienced times where there were no order conformations and when calling the restaurant, no one answers the phone... for about 30-45 mins. The food is good, but for service as bad as Koh Samui's I'd prefer to order elsewhere. more

Good Thai in the city! 6/29/2009

I recently moved to San Fran from Seattle and one thing I miss is the great thai place I would frequent on cold days for a bowl of oh-so-good tom yum kung! more

Service Was Very Poor 11/29/2008

This previously was one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. However, tonight, I ordered fresh spring rolls (rice noodles, shrimp and mint leaves), as I have done every time I have eaten at a Thai restaurant, and was brought vegetarian rolls (lettuce, cilantro and tofu). The waiter argued that he had brought spring rolls and that there were shrimp and mint leaves in the rolls. I disected the rolls for him and showed him that they were, in fact, vegetarian rolls...no shrimp, no rice noodles and no mint leaves. He then, once again, brought me vegetarian rolls and we went through this routine a total of 3 times!!! I finally gave up on the fresh spring rolls and ordered another appetizer, which arrived after we had finished our entrees. When the waiter brought us the check, he advised that he had not charged me for the rolls, which I had sent back 3 times and never ate. The situation was totally mishandled in the first place, as he should have ensured that he brought the correct dish and after serving the wrong dish 3 times, he should not have charged me for the appetizer I finally ended up ordering instead. I am really disappointed with the service I received and probably will not be back. Pros: Food and ambience Cons: Service more

Best Thai food Ever 12/24/2006

Four of us went to dinner here and ordered a sampling of appetizers and main courses, and we were blown away. It was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend as starters the Mieung Kum (magical concoction to be eaten on a large spinach leaf, wow!), fried pea shoot salad (one of the specials), and for main courses, the Madame Sea Bass, the Seafood Claypot, and we had a side of the spicy green beans with crushed peanuts. On a previous visit I had also tried something from the specials menu that was a marinated sauteed beef (emperors beef). Half of us liked the fried corn patty starters, others found them too doughy. The chicken curry was ""correct"" as they say in France (as you would expect). Staff was friendly, and service was prompt. The worst thing about the place is the bar chairs, which I sat on on a previous visit, and both my friend and I found those chairs uncomfortable, digging into the backs of our thighs. So go, try new things, take recommendations from the staff, and some of the above items! It is delicious! One of us walked out saying it was the best Thai food they had ever had, and none of us disagreed, even those of us who had been to Thailand. more

Bad Experience! Hair in my drink! Cold Food! 12/3/2006

Have been to the place a few times mainly due to convenience. Had ok experience before but this time just did for me. Found my food cold, my husband's drink had a big piece of hair. The worst thing is that when we shared our concern with the waiter politely, he said that all he could do was to say sorry. Then we asked to speak to the manager, apparantely the manager is not there on Sundays. Then the waiter rudely gave us our check and we left our food pretty much untouched. Will not go back again ever ever... Cons: Bad customer service, health hazard, more

Authentic Thai Food 11/15/2006

I felt like I was in Koh Samui...excellent food, excellent service, beautiful decor. Even the dishes were beautiful. We dined as a large group on a weekday but I would definitely consider it for a date night! Pros: street parking Cons: little pricey more

trendy thai 11/15/2006

Fitting in with the SOMA scene, Koh Samui is a very stylish space with some excellent food. The dining room fills up quickly, but the bar usually seems fairly empty. The pumpkin curry is a must, and is the one dish I always get. They do not have as many noodle dishes as other Thai restaurants, but the menu is definitely interesting. Pros: Food, decor Cons: not much more

Fantastic curry, nice atmosphere 11/4/2006

Some friends and I went here for the first time this weekend, and we were not disappointed. We all tried something different, and everything was delicious -- especially the red curry vegetarian dish! The waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable, but was friendly enough. The atmosphere was nice- lively but not too loud. We'll definitely be back ! Pros: Great curry! Nice ambience Cons: Mediocre service more

The Best Pumpkin Curry 10/18/2006

I am obsessed with this restaurant. The pumpkin curry is to die for. There are big pieces of the pumpkin and the sauce isnt too spicy but has an edge. Delicious peanut beef over wilted spinach leaves. They also have a variety of thai beers to try which is kinda fun. I could eat here every night... Pros: sticky rice is "sticky", anbiance Cons: waitstaff can be slow at times more

Average at best 9/4/2006

I love thai food and being a neighbor to this place, thought it would be convenient to have a local take out joint. The food is forgettable, it really is. The crispy tofu was underwhelming and basic - fried tofu with sweet chili sauce from a bottle. How creative is that? They also have tiny portions for most of their dishes and I could not help to think...why bother? It is clear that the chefs at this place either do not understand thai food or, worse, just do not care. I would not drop another $50 here, when there are so many other great thai places in the city and in fairly close proximity to this one. It is over-priced yuppy chow, typical for the neighborhood. Pros: Location - one of the only thai places in its proximity Cons: The food is bland and portions too small for the price more

Great Food, Great Atmoshpere, Good Prices, Good Experience 8/20/2006

I was taken here by a friend and just totally impressed with the decor and the cleanliness and the way the room is set up. It's so open and cheerful. It's a perfect place to go with a friend or on a date. It's casual and dressy at the same time. It's just pefect. The food is really amazing and they have nice cocktails. I go back whenever I can. Yummers is the soup. Pros: Great Food and Great Ambience Cons: None that I can think of more

No flavor food 8/15/2006

The initial impression seemed very promising. The wait staff was nice and we were promptly seated. They had a ton of choices on their menu and my partner and I decide to order a bunch of appetizers. I think that's where we went wrong. Everything on the menu seem interesting until you actually got the food and tasted it. Talk about disappointment. The seafood soup was hot but it didn't have any flavor. They had some nice seafood in there: shrimp, squid, and two tiny crab claws but it wasn't worth it. The chicken satay came out nicely on the skewers but tasted a bit chewy. The beef appetizer was the real surprise. It turned out to be simply dressed-up beef jerky, with two small scoops of sticky rice. I'm not kidding you here. It's literally beef jerky with Sriracha hot sauce for dipping. We ordered a few other dishes but nothing stood out as great or close to good. For a mid-tier restaurant, it was disappointing. There are plenty of Thai restaurants out there that have better food and I'll be bringing my business there. Pros: Nice interiors, nice wait staff Cons: Tasteless food more

Good food and nice ambiance 5/3/2006

Had a weeknight dinner here with a friend and it was yummy! The service was great--food came quickly and waiters kept refilling our water glasses. We had the two soups--really yummy but keep in mind the coconut milk ""soup"" is almost like a dish in itself so it fills you up! I got the pumpkin chicken curry (red curry) which was delicious and we also ordered the asparagus with prawns, which was a good ""green"" thing to add. The place has a nice trendy feel, and it was very clean. The bathroom has fun things on the wall... Definitely recommend it. Pros: good food, not too expensive, clean and quick Cons: finding parking more

Fairly Good Thai At A Fairly Good Price 2/27/2006

I have eaten lunch here and found the Thai food to be pretty good with a nice price to match. The only negative is that it gets pretty busy for lunch during the week and the place can get extremely loud. Pros: Good Thai Food, Good prices Cons: Loud, No Parking more

Absolutely the best Thai in SF! 2/26/2006

I love this place. The food is amazing and the place is happening too. The salad with the beef is to die for. The beef tastes like super top notch quality and I should know being from Nebraska. Everything else is really good too. Love this place and its sister restaurant in N. Beach but this one is better I think. Pros: delicious, decor more
