Jose's - Good Food - Friendly - Great History 9/1/2010

As a long time Littleton resident, we take the opportunity to eat a Jose's often. We love the food, best Mexican Food in the city, we love the decor and it's history. The owners are gracious and the service is always prompt and courteous. It is always fun to meet our neighbors there as we then make our way to Littleton Town Theater. They support this by offering theater goers a discount. Always love the flowers they bring to share. They grow them in their own garden. Anne more

Anything but bland! 3/16/2010

This restaurant has been owned by the same couple since it opened 43 years ago and I know the family very well, so im not sure what ""new ownership"" you are talking about, roxy1697. The mural was painted years and years ago by someone very dear to the family and they are very proud of it. And who hasn't risen prices a little in the past few years? The environment is welcoming and the staff is more than helpful. Jose has been serving the best mexican food in Littleton for so many years and in doing so has aquired many regular customers and families that love what they have to offer. If the food was so horrible, do you think they would still be open after 43 years? In this day and age restaurants are lucky if they can stay open 5 years. This food is anything but bland. If taco bell is your thing go for it, but if authentic handmade mexican food is what you want, give Jose's a try. Pros: Family owned more

Bland Mexican Food 2/15/2010

Green salsa tasted like glue; more cheese on top of cheese enchilada - no sauce; food had texture but little else. I've had mexican food in several restaurants in Denver, Colorado and in Mexico. This was the worst. Chips were way salty and stale (and cost extra); combo plate included one cheese enchilada and one chili relleno (also no taste or spice) for $8.00. Will never go back. Cons: Tasteless food - bland more

Garbage on a plate 7/18/2008

I went to this drab, gray, windowless brick box about 2 years ago when i hardly paid attention to how horribly an establishment can be run. And I hated it then. Granted we were in there right before close, the food was hastily prepared, and the service was garbage. So out of the goodness of my heart today i was willing to give it a chance. OK besides the fact that the walls resemble a stupid landscape that you painted for a diorama in 2nd grade, and the atmosphere at a Perkins is warmer and more inviting,At least the old people number about the same. Pros: Toilets, electricty Cons: everything else more

Worst mexican in Littleton 6/19/2008

I read the reviews for Jose's on here before going. Let me just say that the review from Roxy1697 has this place dead to rights. The meat was bland and dry. The portions were small. The price was rediculous for what you get. 2 dinners (no alcohol beverages) came to over $28. They charge extra for the chips and salsa. The salsa is a joke...it comes in an IHOP syrup container. Pace Picante salsa in the jar is WAY better than this stuff. Save yourself some money, try somewhere else. We should have listened to you Roxy! Pros: The people were polite Cons: Everything else more

Great As Always 5/15/2008

For those new to dinning in Littleton, I believe the review from ""Roxy"" is actually about a restaurant somewhere else in the country. I'm 40 and have lived in Littleton my whole life, as have my parents and sister. My sister, parents, or I, eat at Jose's at least once a week and I can assure everyone that Jose Trujillo (the original owner) still owns and operates this Littleton landmark restaurant. Jose uses authentic mexican receipes from his mother and they are as delicious now as they were in the early 70's. The prices have gone up since those days but only in keeping with inflation, and the service is still top notch although some of the waiting staff has retired. Jose's is great food, good prices and one of those restaurants that makes one feel welcome and at home. Because of these facts Jose's Restaurant is busy lunch time and dinner time every day they are open. But hey ,they wouldn't be a landmark if people weren't there eating. more

Small Overpriced Portions 1/29/2008

Jose's used to be gret but it has recently been taken over by new ownership. Every time I go in there ther's less and less people. The owner was hostessing and she was not even polite or welcoming. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable. The meat in the tacos were very bland and dry. The shells were soggy. The portions were small and very overpriced. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody who enjoys good friendly service, good food or good prices! more
