Editorial review from Citysearch 7/24/2012

I had a gift card to this place and never got to use it, I would like to get my money back considering it was for about $260-300, my mom bought it for me for my birthday and her information was in your system, and got no notification that it was closing down. If the owner is looking at this how can we go about this? more

So i found out that jewel spa has 5/29/2012

So i found out that jewel spa has closed.. I guess block E wants to really make that casino happen. I enjoyed the spa services there especially their signature massage. I was looking around to find out if there was a place in the same area with great quality customer service and great services and i noticed that there's a new spa in the skyway right by the Macy's men shoe department called Lontis Day Spa & Salon. They offer similar services for a better price then Jewel Spa did and they also have one of my favorite massage therapists from Jewel as well. Connie does amazing massages and knows a lot about reflexology. There's also a blow out bar that's only $25 during their happy hour!! If you loved Jewel spa and need to find a place in the downtown area that will treat you well and give you a great massage (they do other stuff too - full service salon & spa) go to Lontis Day Spa!! more

Scar from curling iron 7/17/2011

This salon burned my forehead with a curling iron. Not only did they not apologize, they tried to blame it on me, claiming that I had moved my head. Weeks later, I still have a discolored scar on my forehead. more

WORST Spa Salon 7/5/2011

The WORST Spa Salon I have ever been to. Our group decided to start the bachelorette celebration day from the Jewel Spa, where we ordered a number of services starting from facials to hairstyling for the evening. \r The facials were not so great, especially following day when 2 of the girls had bad rash. The manicure we received there started chipping off the same evening. Although these services were way below our expectations, the worst had yet to come. The future bride did a down due, where she had her hair curled. The hairstylist that did her hair burnt her forehead with the curling iron. In 20 minutes the burnt spot (about 1 inch wide and 1.5 inch long) was really showing as there were a number of skin layers taken off. By the time the bride got to her room in the hotel (hotel in the same building), her curls were gone and the hair was flat. Jewel Spa wasted additional two hours of our time trying to fix everything, but at the end of the day bride more

Lost Appointment 11/9/2010

My wife had called the spa between 12:30-1:30pm on Friday to make an appointment for two, 90 minute massages for herself and I on Saturday at 5:45pm.(the next day) They lady on the phone took down all of her information, including contact phone number. Saturday arrives and we leave our home from 3 hours away to come to Minneapolis for the Vikings game. We get into a taxi and my wife proceeds to call right before our appointment to tell them we were going to be 5 mins late. The lady on the phone tells my wife that there was nothing under her name, and no massages scheduled at 5:45 for two people. Nothing wrote down at all. The lady, whose name was Kennedy apologized for what had happened. I called back and wanted to know what exactly was going on. Kennedy asked if my wife wanted her to stay and give her a facial. She also said that she could see if someone could come in and give just my wife a massage. I didn't think that was necessary, or fair to the person who had to come in on their day off, or after their own shift. Also, why would we want to give this place our money after such a big screw up? She took my information and said she would call the owner and see if there was anything that could be done on Sunday before the game at Noon. Never received a phone call. Kennedy did try to make it somewhat right for the other girls mistake, but then fell short in not even contacting us the next day. It would be great for the owner to find out who it was that was working and make sure this type of thing doesn't happen again. more

Hidden Jewel 7/12/2010

With it's semi-hidden location, next to the Graves 601 on Block E, Jewel Salon and Spa is a secret that must be shared. \r \r Upon entering you are greeted by friendly staff then taken to a private waiting room away from the public lobby. In this room there are other spa patrons sipping cucumber water or tea, lounging in plush chairs while watiing to be wisked away to their services. \r \r Jewel offers individual treatments and spa packages, cutting and styling, and employs some of the best massage therapists and estheticians in the city. \r \r Be sure to book early if you want the spa to yourself for a bridal or celebration party. You are sure to leave feeling pampered and content. \r \r Pros: Nice atmosphere, skilled staff, great location more

Started out great but is declining 11/16/2009

I have gone to Jewel for 2-3 years now anywhere from every three months to 2 time a year depending on whats going on in that year. The service started out great but I've noticed it's slowly starting to decline in both customer service and quality/skill of employees. The spa itself is a little small but nicely decorated. There are only four treatment rooms, all with thin walls, its a little hard to relax during a massage when you can hear doors slamming, as well as giggling and gossiping from the hallway and salon area. \r The last time I was there I just stopped in for a quick brow wax before going off on vacation. The woman who did my wax not only let me leave the spa with wax still in my brows, and hairline (not even sure how that got there!) she ripped off the skin along my brow line! I ended up on vacation in Los Angeles for a week with obvious wounds/scars above my eyebrows for. I tried contacting the spa owner by both phone and email but never got a response. I will be looking for a new spa to visit, The Ivy Spa club has gotten some good reviews on the net and from a few people I know so I'll be trying there next. Pros: Massage Therapists Cons: Hours, Waxing, thin walls. more

My Partner and I went to Jewelspa for their Business Traveler package. It included facials and a couples massage,( they add a mini back scrub and some hot stones to their massages) it was very pampering and relaxing! We can't wait go back! Pros: very friendly atmosphere, skilled therapists more

Amazing hair stylists!....Great spa! 6/13/2007

I have made Jewel spa one of my favorite places to escape to. They are very helpful with walk-in apt's, which helps a lot with my schedule. I first went there to get a style done for event that i had, Taylor was my stylist and she helped me through that chaotic time and made me beautiful, she was wonderful! After attending Jewel and seeing Taylor for my hair and nails, she referred me to Susan who is a massage therapist, oh my gosh...again wonderful! They really know how to take care of their clients! I even get to drink wine! This will also be the perfect place to hold my bachelorette party! Jewel spa is an elegant yet very cozy place to come. I just love it! Pros: Multiple services to choose from Cons: Parking can be hard, but there is a ramp below block E. more

Very cute spa 11/19/2006

Not a lot of pedicure or manicure seats so dont plan on going with a group. The waiting area is right in the middle of it all. Treatment rooms are very cozy. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Overpriced for being in a bad location more
