Janet is amazing 4/5/2006

I had my hair highlighted by Janet and she did an incredible job. I get compliments all the time and I couldn't be happier with it. The entire staff is extremely friendly and Janet is top-notch. She is down-to-earth and a great stylist. She picked the perfect color to compliment my hair and skin tone. It's a little on the expensive side but it's well worth it for the results you will achieve. I couldn't believe how good my hair looked. When I asked her how she would cut my hair she examined it and spent time explaining exactly what she would do. I plan on going back to her for my haircut and I can't wait. more

Can't wait to go back 3/30/2006

I walked into the Palor just to check out their hard to find line of hair care products Davines, and ended up getting a haircut and deep conditioning. I am so happy I decided to stay! The staff was genuinely warm and welcoming and my stylist Eddie was amazing. He really listened to what i wanted, and I got a perfect cut and style for my type of hair. Being that i have curly hair, it is very hard to find someone who knows how to cut it right, and Eddie did just that. I am so happy and relieved to have finally found a salon that I can continually go to, knowing I'll get something great each time I go. I can't wait to go back and get my hair colored! What a great place - and free bagels too!! 3/23/2006

This is a great salon with a wonderfully friendly atmosphere where the staff seem to genuinely care about their customers (also evidenced by the free coffee, bagels and muffins on offer!) Have recently started going here regularly for my weekly blowdry and can highly recommend Eddie who's a genius that can turn my frizzy, uncontrollable mop into sleek, shiny waves! I always leave the salon looking and feeling wonderful! Pros: Friendly, Professional, Free bagels!! Cons: Bit pricey more

Janet is excellent for natural blonde color! 3/21/2006

I went to Janet Rufin's Parlor for the first time and my hair was a total mess - multiple shades of blonde, dark roots and dark underneath. Janet did an incredible job and made my hair look completely naturally blonde and beautiful. My friends and family - all critics - are exceptionally hard to please and they absolutely raved also. I have been searching for someone to stick with in the city for quite some time and I've finally found it in Janet. I've been everywhere from Dramatics to Warren-Tricomi - and I think Janet is the best by far. more

The most sincere and talented salon 3/4/2006

EVERYONE at Janet Rufin's Parlor is sincere and personable, a rareity in NYC. They take the time to tell you what will work on your hair's texture, color, etc., and what would go best with your face, skin tone and lifestyle. I'm always happy with the haircuts and highlights I've had there and would recommend JRP for anyone with ideas of their own or those who could use some suggestions. I GET MY HAIR COLORED BY THE COOLEST GIRL I KNOW, KAREN. SHE'S GOT THE WILLIAMSBURG CHIC WITH THE MANHATTAN SKILL!!! SHE IS DEFINATLY THE BEST HAIRDRESSER EVER!! Janet saved my hair!!! 2/2/2006

I started going to Janet about 1 1/2 years ago. My hair colour was a mess, and my hair was incredibly unhealthy. Janet truly saved my hair, and I wouldn't trust anyone else. My highlights are amazing, and my hair is the healthiest it's ever been since I started highlighting it years ago. Also, Janet's Parlor is beautifully and carefully decorated, with no expense wasted - anything from the ceiling high mirrors to the gorgeous (and comfortable) chairs. Janet's staff is extremely skilled and professional, yet extremely pleasant. I love this place!!! Pros: highlighting, location and space, worth the money more

i am letting my hair grow, it seems flat, straight. i went in thinking i might want a permanent. i had a consultation with mary who thought a perm was unnecessary if i cut my hair in layers. i made an appt for the next day. first, i had a wonderful shampoo, deep and relaxing. then mary cut my hair, left the length but layered it. i actually had waves of my own. looks great and i am happy. it is pricey to have a hair cut there, though they do an excellent job. i highly recommend the salon. supercuts quality 1/31/2006

This was one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. I had a hair coloring apt. there and the results were average. However, Before I left I decided to get a bang trim. Worst idea ever. The woman that cut my bangs cut them all off on one side and on the other side of my face cut them on an angle. I have a long oval face, so they just look horrible on my face. I left and broke down crying in the street. There are so many better places in a city full of upscale Pros: free drinks Cons: quality more

Could not have been happier! 1/27/2006

Over time I have certainly put my hair through alot, (processing, etc) and it was certainly showing. Karen took the time to evaluate what would be the best approach in not only bringing me to the color I wanted but also advising me with conditioning and reccomending the best cut to minimize my damage. I could not have left happier, and I would strongly encourage you to make an appointment, you won't be dissapointed! more

Everyone at Janet Rufin's Parlor is wonderful! Janet has been coloring my hair for about 2 years. When I came to her my color really needed help. She is the best! Mary gives a great haircut , Veronica's blow dry can't be beat, and Karen 's hair wash and head massage really relaxes. more

Karen does a fabulous job dying my hair. I change my hair color frequently and no matter what I want to do, she can make it look great. She does great red hair, which is my new found favorite color. I have walked out of salons in tears, but here I always leave happy. Veronica cuts my hair like a rockstart and I love it! They are all so friendly, I feel like I've been going there for years. The best haircut! 1/22/2006

I always struggle to find a hairstyle that is both stylish and easy to take care of with my hectic schedule. Mary Firlit gave me the greatest haircut I have ever had in my life. She took the time to find out more about me and my lifestyle and what I needed in a cut. She explained exactly what she was going to do, step by step. I love my hair cut and plan on continuing to go back to Parlor and Mary. She is the best!!! Pros: atmosphere, staff, value more

Why mess with a good thing? 1/16/2006

I've been coming to Janet for 11 or 12 years now. I must admit that in the VERY beginning, i occasionally strayed (it was before we were officially committed!). But I always came back to her. No one else could compare to the fabulous Janet. She always first considers what will work best with my coloring, hairtype and lifestyle and then also throws in suggestions to keep the style current. Her new place looks great, the staff is friendly and very helpful and best of all, Janet oversees everything so everyone who comes gets the Janet touch. more
