AMAZING EXPERIENCE 11/13/2005

It is so hard to go into a place where you have no idea what you will look like when you leave. It is so scary. Well I took a chance a made an appt. with Mary. She was so friendly! I was amazed at how in depth she consulted with me. I felt very comfortable. She pointed out things and ideas I had never thought of. I have a wonderful new haircut and a color that compliments it so well. I feel so confident with this new look. The whole experience, staff, atmosphere and Mary, was absolutely AMAZING! I Love My Color!!!! 11/2/2005

I went in to see Janet for some highlights. I've been so let down in the past, i figured i would get, average blonde. But, not on this day. My highlights are beautiful. They compliment my skin tone. uneven, too short and just plain awful 11/2/2005

i went here to get a haircut . I had the worst haircut of my life here. i went into the salon with long hair below my shoulders. i now have hair cut at all different lengths and angles from my cheek bones to just below my shoulders, none of the layers are even, they stick out at odd angles and the cut took away all my fullness in the back and sides and left the top too thick and full, it is just awful. Rockstar Hair!!!! 11/1/2005

I went in for a haircut recently and got Veronica. I have found my new stylist!!! I now have beautiful rockstar hair, and the blow-out was fabulous!!! The salon was fun. The staff was funny and friendly. No gossip. No attitude. Just a nice, laid-back vibe. I am SO going back. Pros: Funnny and friendly, Rockstar haircuts, NO ATTITUDES!!!! more

a gem of a salon! 10/31/2005

Maria is an amazing stylist who always makes me look stunning and fresh! She has cut my hair to many legnths and styles, over the time I have followed her. She knows how to shape my hair and make it light, bouncy and rejunivated. The Parlor is a relaxing, de-stressing haven in the midst of busy NYC. I used to see Janet at a previous salon and was so happy to see she had opened her own space when I returned to New York! She gave me, I kid you not, what feels like movie star hair. When I left the salon, a man said ""wow"" and a girl at sephora asked who did my hair. And my hair normally does not illicit such responses! Janet really listened to what I wanted out of the color - and gave me back the blonde I had when I was 10! It looks so natural! And Veronica finished it off with a great blow out. I love it and will be back (regularly)! The space is beautiful, the staff is friendly and attentive, the prices normal for an upscale salon, and I just cannot say enough good things. you know the saying you get what you pay for. My cut and color was average. I would rather pay a a little more to get the quality I was looking for. My hair was cut too short after asking that all I wanted was a trim. Color, just ok. The staff was friendly and the salon looked nice Pros: Price Cons: quality of service more

I have followed Maria to this brand-new and very stylish salon. Maria has been taking care my hair for a long time, and I don't even live in New York -- I live in Chicago!!! I have followed my amazing stylist Maria to Janet Rufins, and could not be happier with the location - the salon is beautiful, the staff friendly and relaxed, and the service impeccable - tea, coffee, spring water anyone? Although I have only used Maria, who is beyond, I am sure the entire staff at Janet Rufins are fab - and for everything it offers, incredibly reasonable pricing. Best Red colorist in NY 10/9/2005

I felt like home the moment I stepped into the salon. The staff is so friendly and easy going. For an upscale NYC salon, there is no attitude and the prices are reasonable. Janet is a master with red coloring and highlights. Everyone is asking me if the color is natural. Billy is a genius. I walked into the salon and immediatly felt comfortable. Everyone was really friendly and nice. My haircut done by Veronica is absolutely beautiful! My haircolor done by Karen is wonderful. Both worked very well with what I wanted, and surpassed my expectations by far. Karen and Veronica work really well together to design an overall hairstyle that is exactly what you want. Color Magic with Karen 10/5/2005

I've been coloring my hair for 15 years. My expectations were exceeded by Karen, who was a real pleasure to hang out with for three hours! I enjoyed the laid-back vibe of the parlor, especially non-drama /no-gossip stylists that were there. My hair color was well thought out and assessed (beautiful colors chosen), carefully applied, and the results are amazing. There is depth, dimension, and subtle yet dramatic things happening. I've been seeing my fabulous stylist, Maria, for almost two years now. When I first started seeing her, I'd hit the time in my life where I really needed to look good -- my career was putting me into contact with clients, and I had to look my best. I was thrilled to find someone both skillful and fun. I couldn't ask for a better stylist. When she told me she was moving to Janet Rufins Parlor, I was really happy. The space is gorgeous, and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. I always look forward to my appointments, when I can take some time out of my busy day and just relax. Intuitive! 9/27/2005

I work within the fashion/beauty business and the precision of my hair cut is important. Stylist's on my bookings used to complain that my cut was ""heavy"" ""pulled down"" my features"" or ""lacked movement"". After Billy worked his magic ... nothing but compliments and smiles! Definitely the most intuitive stylist that I have worked with during my career! more

I had my hair cut by Billy and it is one of the best cuts I have ever received. He really took the time to work with me to help figure out what the best cut for me would be. I am amazed at the results. For once in my life I look how I should! So much weight has been lifted from my head and I have received nothing but compliments since I left the salon. i've been going to janet for a couple of years now....talk about ridiculously talented colorist...now that she has opened her own salon, she is really taking off. i just had the best haircut i've ever had today by her top stylist, billy. ladies, not only does he give an amazing haircut, but he is hot too! not a bad plus...anyway, check out parlour...you will NOT be disapointed...and, the apprentice stylists kick butt too...tell billy that abby sent you. he is edgy, hip, and will make you look like a rock star!!!!!! more

You walk into Janet's sleek modern Salon and aren't bombarded with hairnets, noise and ugly styling stations but rather a friendly wild haired receptionist greets you with a smile and offers a beverage-Coffee? Water? Wine? Within minutes you are having a miniconsultation and you relly get the feeling they care how you look and that your head is more to them than a place to experiment.
