Worst

My husband worked for this company for 9 months. I was a passenger and I was enraged by the lies about the pay, the hours and the time they had us out the road without the promise...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/23/2014

I have personally worked for James H. Clark 3 times over the past decade. The first time I left was because I thought the grass was greener on the other side. I discovered that I was just mowing a different lawn. The second time I left was to be active in the military. When I retired from the army I returned to James H. Clark and I have been here ever since. I have never not qualified for my bonuses and as such I have been treated very well. I am now working in the office in a new position where I am treated with dignity and respect. I keep coming back here because I have never been lied to by anyone and I find that they try to treat everyone fairly. writing this I am doing so as a driver and an employee and not as a company representative. more

Crybaby wanna-be truckers 11/20/2010

Just a comment or 2 about James H Clark trucking .Myself personally have worked for this company and I found they are good people to work for their equipment is second to none in tip top shape and the fleet managers and maintanance people are awesome. In the trucking industry there is no room for whiners and crybabys if you cant handle being on the road maybe you should work at a be at home everyday job.where I stand with JHC I would drive for them again if I were looking for a job now.It only takes a few crybaby wanna-be-truckdrivers to make us real truckers all look bad. more

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY FANCY PACKAGING 5/11/2010

Last fall I was in between jobs and still fairly new to the trucking industry and had experienced some negative elements, so I was being careful who I chose to work for this time.I selected JHC because I did the time tested bad thing and assumed that any owner that took such good care of his trucks was bound to do like wise to his drivers, I was exactly 180 degrees in error. I was told I was going to make 37 CPM with at least 2750 miles a week and would have qualified me for the top bonus for total miles in a month. I was there 20 wks with only one day off and never got close to even the bottom bonus. I was told it could not be helped if the market fluctuates but they clammed up and got angry when I asked to see their payroll records because I knew that many of their favored drivers made that bonus and one even had every weekend off. Another bonus is the biggest scam of all. The hand out says it is a fuel bonus based on a penny was added for each bracket in MPH you drove in the qualifying period. The slower the speed the more pennys are added to you CPM. On your check it says MPH bonus and here idswhere the owner Craig Clark and the only one who knows the system and evaluates what your extra penneys will be. There is no formula only a 100% subjective determination by Craig like sticking ones finger in the air. I drove 50,000 miles in 20 weeks and the only time I exceeded the 64 MPH mark which is the highest bonus was when the truck gained momentum coasting down hill in gear with the engine brake using zero fuel, before I could catch it. I always got it back down with some brake pressure within seconds and thought how stupid it was to kill the momentum to go up the other side of the hill. My truck was governed @ 62 MPH So Mr. Clark justified stealing from me $500 in 20 weeks while using no fuel and he has around 100 more drivers. Do the math. This is only one out of 4 different ways I was robbed of the money I earned and could tell the details but it would take about 4 pages. I am not just whining but have a purpose which is to ask others that have the same experience to contact me to get a snow ball rolling and file a class action suit at this deceitful and dishonest man that from his own words despises all drivers and to him the means justifies the ends. I have a drivers Handbook and no where in it does is there information on the ways a driver is paid IE. multiple drops, fuel bonus, total miles bonus, deductions on accidents or other things that cause an expense to the company. Their orientation is brief and is mostly movies and paperwork that covers the back of JHC but not enough information to protect your interests and packet book. They have some of the worst drivers in the business and can be proven by looking at UDOTS records. In the first month I was ordered by Craig to break the law and take illegal loads. This communication was with the Qal Comm and I called Greg safety director and ran it by him what my dispatcher and Craig, was ordering me to do and he said ""if it was up to me you would not do it but it is out of my hands."" Greg is Safety in name only because he is only a puppet and Craig Clark is everything there and rules with a iron fist . I have worked for Swift and two owner operators with some negative energy but JHC is in a class of its own on how drivers are despised and shown in their paychecks by the scams of Bonus pay and other ways I can explain if interested. Pros: Pros; Trucks are attractive and well maintained Cons: Cons; Every thing else more

Due to the economy it became very ugly 12/10/2009

I had 8 years of OTR experience when I started with James Clark. In six months I saw a good company go bad. 1, 60 days on the road with no more than 18 hours at home. (I live 10 minutes from terminal!) 2, In the month of August and September 2009 NO NIGHT Dispatch at all! 3 You want it when? where? and How Far? Thats not exactly LOG LEGAL! 4 In September they introduced slip seating for ANYONE with more than 2 days at home while it was apparent to me that there were at LEAST 40 tractors if not more sitting Idle in the Yard 5 I had to pay the fixit ticket because I was never allowed enough down time in their own yard/ shop to have mechanical repairs done! 6 Utah department of Workforce services is refusing benefits because these afforementioned are not good cause? Now after a 3rd appeal UDWS is Now ignoring me! Therefore I am not paying state taxes this year because I am being ignored!!!! Pros: Good tractors Cons: not enough time at terminal for repairs more

Liars, and Theifs 2/28/2008

James H Clark and Son, What a Joke. I went to work for them back in 07 , They told me that I would have good home time but out of 90 days I was home 6 days They only pay there drivers with out two years experience 0.20 cents per mile and they top out at 28 cents per mile...liars and theifs.... Pros: good equipment Cons: not enough money or home time more
