I just got my hair cut with Alex today and wanted to thank her and the salon for making it such a pleasant experience! Awesome little window vintage seat, super nice people, she had me cracking up and I got to walk away with a really cute hair cut. So happy to have found this place! more

I got my hair cut Saturday, and after looking at it more closely on Sunday I realized I wasn't happy with it at all. Luckily I still had plenty of length to play with, so I called and explained the problem and Jackie was very accomodating. I was able to go back tonight and Alex did a great job fixing my hair. Everyone there was so nice, the whole concept of the place is really cool, and even though my first experience was a little crazy I am so happy with my new cut and how they handled the situation that I definitely plan on going back. more

The reviews were very true as far as everyone being friendly. Alex was nice and so was Jackie but I have never had a more horrible color and highlights in my life. My hair was dark brown with light caramel highlights (about 10 weeks old) we decided instead of touching up the roots, we would start all over. We decided on a chocolate brown base and warmer caramel highlights. I was there for almost 3 hours -Alex was overscheduled (one of the clients there was actually a color fix from the previous day) - Alex apologized for keeping me so long and said that she would put an extra conditioner in free of charge so that the color would stay even longer... When complete, it looked OK but I could still see my old highlight coming through. She had another client so I went home, hoping that it was just the lights. I waited 24 hours to wash my hair and when I did, it was apparent that it wasn?t the lights. The color she put on my base was completely gone and my highlights were brassy orange now. I called them right away and they asked me to come back in. I went in and asked her to just correct my hair so that it is all one color and to forget about the hi-lights. She apologized profusely, put a chocolate brown base over my hair, and said that by putting me under the dryer it would make the color she was putting in permanent. The color was much darker, but at least it was all one color. When I was leaving, I asked for a credit for the highlights of $65. Alex told me that "they don?t give credits to credit cards - but there will be a credit waiting for me when I come back" I said absolutely not, I dont have the highlights why should you hold my money? I want a credit on my credit card. She pushed back several more times but I didn?t budge. They were finally able to give me a credit back of $65.I went home and 2 weeks later those same brassy orange highlights were back. It was a complete waste of my time and my money. I was very disappointed with this salon. more

i got my hair cut last week at selah salon and it was a great experience. it's a really cool space and everyone i interacted with was super friendly. alex cut my hair and she was awesome! i didn't really know what i wanted and she created a look that i love. i will def be going back - i finally found my salon and stylist! A friend recommended this place to me after being dissatisfied with a salon closer to home. I was able to get an appointment the same day I called. It has always been very difficult for me to get the right shade of blonde since I'm not a natural blonde. Maria, the very knowledgeable colorist that worked with me was finally able to get me the shade of blonde that I've been looking for...forever! I couldn't believe it! The color looks so beautiful and my hair actually feels good. She was absolutely great! In fact, everyone was very nice and attentive and the place is really beautiful. more

Really! I was searching for a totally new look after restyling my entire life. I poured through tomes of style magazines desperately searching for something, anything to fit the new me, but I was completely lost. After only a few minutes of chatting with David, he started suggesting all types of options - one better than the next! What a relief to have found a stylist that seemed to know me better than I knew myself! WOW! My new look fits the new me like a new glove! THANK YOU DAVID!!! I don't suggest this salon. I asked for a trim and said that I liked my previous cut and just wanted to maintain it. I left looking like I have a grown out mullet. They gave me short layers and my hair falls chest length! How can they be so cavalier?! Totally wrong. Pros: Bad Cut! Cons: Bad Cut! more

Thank you so much to David for saving my dreadful locks! I go to school in Miami, and I only get my haircut when I come back here to visit! I have never met a stylist that is so passionate and current with their work! The salt water has wreaked havoc on my hair, and David always has the latest treatments to nurse my hair back to health! This was the best waxing experience ever. I read the reviews on this city search when searching desperately one day before leaving for a two weeks on a beach vacation. I was so lucky that there was a spot in the evening, for a mom at home always great if you can go there in the evening. Bikini wax is not my favorite part, the waxing is always painful, but Jacky reduced the pain to minimumto start of with a little wine is always relaxed also the nice conversation, was good to think of something else, but she is friendly!, and with that; a professional. She just knows how to do it right. And I have experiences with others doing the same job without having a clue what they actually were doing, they caused me so much pain and were even more expensive. At the Selah salon with Jacky there is a good friendly atmosphere , a beautiful vintage setting, and most important great work for a very reasonable price. thanks! more

I really enjoyed my experience at Selah Salon and Lounge. I recently moved to the White Plains area, and needed to find a new salon. After seeing this place on Citysearch, I decided to give it a try. Maria cut and hilighted my hair, and I think it turned out to be one of the best hair cuts ever! It came out very chic, but with an edge to it, which I thought was awesome. This was also the first place that I've been to that will actually give you samples of product, rather than making you purchase something right off the bat. They become a lounge in the evening, which I thought was a cool concept (the lounge is to open in November). They also sell vintage clothes and have theme nights. The owner says that they even have a psychic come in. I'm just excited that I found a fun place to get my hair done! more

The service at this lounge is outstanding; the hairstylists are very cool... Alex is a great hair colorist and stylist!!! She make hair coloring an art... I come in as her canvas and leave as her creation!!! Pros: Skilled Hairstylists!!! Cons: Hmm... None! more

Alex is amazing! Not scissor happy and totally gets color! I can't recommend her more! The service was incredible and the environment is beautiful and relaxing. Alex is the first hairstylist that I've been to that didn't turn "take an inch off" into 2 or 3 inches off. And the color was truly beautiful! Fun and wonderful to talk to.......you simply shouldn't go anywhere else!!! more

Great haircut by Alex. In the past, I haven't had any salons take initiative and give ideas for my hair. My hair is very thick and wavy and I think they see that and just stick to the basics. She gave me a great cut that has made my hair extremely manageable. It looks great styled too! If you want someone who will give you ideas and give you a hair style rather than a hair cut then you should definitely try this salon. Very friendly staff. She left me know exactly what she was doing rather than just doing it. Great job. more

Oh my god, Maria and Jackie are truly the best hairdressers out there...I work for a National Magazine and they have always taken care of all the girls for the photo shoots...Last week Maria did my Highlights/Low lights and now everyone is complimenting how natural it looks. Maria can do hair blind folded (not kidding) "She's awesome". Then the other day Jackie did this Caritine treatment on my hair and now it is straight and silky smooth with no frizz especially during the summer months! Not only are they talented and are on the cutting edge, they truly are genuin sweet hearts. I would refer them to anyone who wants to get that perfect look. Pros: Best Service Cons: None more

I have always driven into New York City to get my Brazilian Wax and between paying for parking, gas and the wax job you can imagine the expense. So I decided to look after a year for somewhere near by and that is when I found Jackie. She is kind and her place has such a nice and warm friendly atmosphere which makes anyone feel very comfortable. I highly recommended anyone going to her salon "Selah". When darwin came to his conclusions that mankind and the apes were related ; he must have seen a picture of my bikini area before Selah!!! I have been to every place imaginable to try to manage the "hair" or "brush fire" situation -- if your a woman of Mediterranean ancestry you will understand --- if you don't you are lying to yourself! Anyway, long story short --- Jacquie saved me from another summer under a bathing suit skirt!! She was professionl, quick and the least pain I have experienced while hair is being pulled from my private parts. :) Thumbs way up and Hair way gone. I was referred to Jacqui by a friend at work. I previously went to the Elizabeth Arden Spa for Brazilian Waxing. Elizabeth Arden is about $30 more than Selah and takes a hell of a lot longer. Jacqui is wonderful; friendly, funny and the results are awesome, better than the Elizabeth Arden Spa. The salon is very pretty, the staff is extremely courteous, and they even offer a glass of wine before your waxing session (highly recommended!). If you're contemplating a Brazilian Wax or are using someone else to do it, I would absolutely give Jacqui a shot. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Nice place, friendly staff, great service. a friend brought me to selah for my first brazilian wax. i was so nervous, but once i sat down in the waiting area i felt immediately comfortable. the cappuccinos were great and everyone was so sweet. jacqui was my waxer and she was incredible. what i thought was going to be one of the most painful and awkward experiences of my life actually turned out to be not bad at all. the salon is located right in the middle of white plains' business district, which is super convenient. i can't believe i didn't know about selah before, but now i doubt i'll use another salon, especially for waxing. i got my wax on the day of my prom, and if i had stayed at selah to get my hair styled instead of going to my usual (and much more expensive) salon, i'm sure it wouldn't have been totally destroyed like it was that day. i'll be making my next appointment today. i don't usually write reviews but i found this website and thought selah definitely deserved one. it's really great that such quality service is available in westchester county for a reasonable price and everyone should know about it. more

The Shkreli sisters have done it again - an amazing salon with ambiance and service that is uncomparable. I have been a customer of Marija Shkreli's for over 10 years. And I have always been satisfied with my hair color and cut. But the best new service is the keritin relaxer. It made my frizzy curly hair smooth and straight. With almost no effort, I can have almost salon perfect hair everyday. This is an amazing treatment and the price was very reasonable - 30%+ less then in other salons. And for all my other beauty services Jaqui Shkreli is always reliable and consistently good at what she does. My brazilian bikini wax is just perfect. Since it was my first brazilian, Jaqui took her time making sure I was comfortable. Jaqui also reshaped my brows to perfection - which were previously ruined by someone who called herself a "threading" expert. Pros: Expert services at very reasonable prices Cons: NONE!!! more
