Can anyone tell me where the location of the House of Pies in Glendale was. Exact address would be nice but cross streets would help me just fine.

A staple in Los Feliz and it has a huge parking lot. The pies are good. I've never had any food here, but I love the strawberry pie when it's in season. more

Pies pies and more pies. They have many fresh baked pies here. Besides they they also serve finer food. But come here for the pie. I usually get the banana cream pie. The cream is made light and the crust is cooked perfectly firm and crispy. more

Can I have an order of attitude with my grilled cheese? 2/27/2012

We decided to stop by this restaurant for the first time on our way up to the observatory and wished we would have kept on driving. From the outside it's an unpretentious diner but all our waiter served up was attitude. From "You're not ready yet?" with this way too surprised look on his face, to "You mean that thing right there" and laughed when I asked for a spoon which I didn't see wrapped up in the napkin, to "The same kind as everyone else" when I asked what kind of bread they had for my grilled cheese. Pros: null Cons: null more

Check it out, I like. 10/26/2010

This place is a simple restaurant that?s been there for ever. With good simple food. Always has been clean and they are modernizing it very nicely. I like their fry?s, burgers and breakfast. I have not had their night time Dinners. Service seems fine to me and all are friendly, they don?t bite. Service can be varied according to the time of day, but not enough to complain about. I know friends who go there all the time and every one I know has been there at some time. I?m not a regular there but go at around once a fortnight or more. If you sit at the posh new bar their Sports Television?s are new HD and amazingly clear. They have both booths, tables and out side seating area. Small car park can get packed, I generally park at the side on the street. If you like pie?s take one home with you. more

The Pies are Yummy 1/22/2009

I've been to this location 3 times and I can't stop ordering the apple pies and the pancakes for breakfast. I absolutely love how its a small little homely place. Its perfect for the family. more

Nice breakfast spot 7/18/2008

I really enjoyed this place. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were seated right away and searved right away. The atmosphere was pleasant. I couldn't complain about the food, it was good. Haven't tried the pie yet. Maybe next time. Pros: convenient more

It's called House of Pies for good reason! 8/30/2007

If you like pie, like I do, this is the place to go. They have a large selection, although be forwarned that some pies on their list are "seasonal." The pies are really the best thing about this restaurant, which is really more of a diner. They have a parking lot, which is a major plus! I think of it more as a dessert place than anything else. The rest of the food menu is standard diner fare. Pros: The pies! The pies! The pies! Oh, and the parking! Cons: average food menu more

Best Pie in Los Angeles 2/7/2007

The pies alone are worth the jaunt to this Los Angeles institution. While the House of Pies serves breakfast all day and has a lunch/dinner menu packed with American classics like burgers, roast beef, and mashed potatoes, it's best to save room for dessert. Try a seasonal offering like creamy pumpkin or opt for the chocolate cream pie that has actual slices of banana embedded in the filling. Another favorite is their super creamy cheesecakes, topped with fresh fruit like strawberries. You can also pick up one House of Pie's confections to take home, including their pies, cheesecakes, and cookies. Pros: Parking lot, Cozy atmosphere, Convenient Location Cons: Slow service more

Nice, Low Key, Fast Seating 12/3/2006

hungry? hungover? want to get seated and eat right away? this place is food you. good hashbrowns, solid breakfast. negligable atmosphere. relatively hipster free, pajama pants-friendly. Pros: fast, relaxed, pie Cons: crying baby more

Welcome to the Default 11/24/2006

That this place is the default for hollywood diner-mongers says that it is good, but not shockingly good. You'll never leave amazed, but you'll never leave particularly dissatisfied, either. Please don't consider this a bad review, just know what to expect. more

Average diner food 10/13/2006

Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. The food is okay, the place is dated the wait staff is helpful, although not much english understood anymore, but the food is above average with the salads being a true stand out. If you do pie I hear it's worth splurging on their fresh pies. Pros: Decent food, some parking, always available seating Cons: dated decor, spanglish staff who can be indifferent more

User review by italianeli 8/4/2005

Although I'm a pure Italian (and very proud to be) I love to live in LA as often as I can as well as I adore to go to the House of Pies as often as I can. Believe it or not, there I can find a delicious cappuccino Italian style with many other "delicatezze" for my breakfast. Pros: Recently remodeled , Good value for money , Very friendly Cons: crowded on Sundays more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 2/3/2005

House of Pies is famous for its pies but I prefer to go there for the consistently good meals. I'm talking about good tuna melts and club sandwiches, pork chops, hearty fare. It's one of those coffee shop restaurants that for some reason you can end up spending hours in a booth chatting with friends while your coffee up is endlessly refilled. more

Best pies in Los Angeles! Possibly in CA 1/28/2005

Seat yourself! House of Pies serves the best selection of pies of any restaurant I've been to. Each pie is absolutely delicious, sometimes too rich to eat one by yourself. The service is average, similar to what you would expect at Denny's, but the desserts makes up for it. I recommend the pecan pie. I would also recommend their mozzarella sticks if you don't mind the fat and calories! The coffee is great also, as long as it's fresh! Great atmosphere for high school and college students. Pros: Convenient parking, inexpensive, great pies & coffee Cons: Terrible decor more

house of PIES 6/26/2002

recognize this is the house of PIES...not the house of food... i personally wouldnt order a meal from this place. unless you like bland and luke warm. the pie is great. pecan, coconut cream, et al Pros: great pie, open late, cheap Cons: bad food more

Slooooow service... 6/14/2002

The fresh strawberry cream pie is great and the diner food is decent, but the service is excruciatingly slow. Once, it took over an hour for my friends and I to get just a few slices of pie, even after we reminded 3 of the waitresses who passed by. Eventually, our waitress showed up and she told us that she had forgotten about us. Nice. Go if you want food that's better than Denny's, but skip it if you're hungry--you might be waiting for quite a while. Pros: Decent Pies, Patio/outside dining Cons: Slow as hell service, Smokers on patio more

OK food, great pies 5/17/2002

I'd say the food is pretty average, and good when you're seeking out comfort food, but the pies are superb. When in season, the strawberry cream pie is worth the trip alone, and the banana cream pie is a good off-season substitute. Screw the oh-I'm-so-hipper-than-you attitude of Fred 62 across the street - this is a much better place. more
