A must stay! 1/2/2008

I just picked my pup uf from The Hopund Dog Hotep in Eden Prairie. He was in excellent spirits. He is kind of whimpy, not like my other dog who was with me hunting, but he was amazingly relaxed. I have boarded them both at Top Dog (good too) and at The hound Dog Pet Hotel. I would definately recommend The Hound Dog Pet Hotel to anyone who cares about their dog. The front lady (Melissa) was very nice to work with. I have to admit that the first time I was there there was a different lady that wasn't so friendly, but the staff let me know that she no longer works there. Anyway, this was my 5th time picking up my pup there and I think this place is a must stay for any dog. Pros: Clean, Friendly, Caring, Tend to needs (mine takes Meds), CLEAN!!!!!!! Cons: A little slow at pick up, but not too bad. Great Job Hound Dog Pet Hotel!!!!!! more

A proven record 12/27/2007

Beating animals, not giving medication or taking them to a vet if sick? If these complaints were true, Hound Dog would be closed. I agree that Hound Dog is open to make money - that is why I don't believe the bad complaints. HD is a thriving business that is always full - the owners would not jeopardize this by mistreating the dogs. And the other complaints - because someone didn't give you a smile in the morning or want to chit chat when they are busy? We chose our dog's care provider based on his happiness - not whether we've had a good customer service experience. Pros: Experience, staff, service and fact our dog likes it there Cons: Hours have improved; unavoidable incidents that will always happen with dogs - anywhere more

we really do care 12/12/2007

I wanted to respond to some of the complaints , Im one of the owners to the hound dog , we appologize if you had a bag experience , I try very hard to keep all the pets very happy and heathy when they stay , Im concentrating very hard when people are telling me very important things about their pets , I will make a tremendous effort to smile if my demeanor doesnt seem happy ,I truley love my job and the employes that make this possible. Pros: we want to hear from you please call , let us know Cons: reviews that are not true at all more

I just wanted to let everyone know , I bring my dog Oliver to the hound dog for their daycare program , it has been great for both of us, before I couldnt go because the hours. They didnt work in my schedule , but since they have revised the hours, It makes it very convient now , I know he has a great time , he gets excited when we pull around the corner and goes happy crazy , then he pulls me staight to the door to get in , I think its greatly priced and the staff , is super friendly , and the girl karen does a great job , Oliver has spent the night just a few times and has always come home feeing great . I would highly recommend the Hound Dog to any one considering an alternitive spot . Pros: convienent ,, clean , my dog loves it Cons: none more

wow what a great place 11/30/2007

My dog stayed at the hound dog for the first time ever I was so surpized after reading the reviews , I even asked other friends in the neighborhood what they thought , I got only good responses , my dog is a lab , I could tell he had a great time , he came home clean , happy and very heathy , we even peeked over the fence they had about 6 dogs out and2 people supervising the play .The owner karen was also very pleasant , she asked many questions about our dog , that made me feel very comfortable , I wish more people would write about good experieces not just bad ones . This place is great , I would recommend to everyone . Pros: clean friendly dog lovers more

Don't make the mistake I did - trust the negative reviews on this one!!! 11/24/2007

I was looking for a kennel, and found myself considering the Hound Dog Hotel. Despite the bad reviews, we had a friend who kenneled his dog here often and had no problems. We just assumed that the negative reviews must have been biased. Things at the kennel seemed very clean, organized, and professional. We left feeling confident that our pup was in good hands. Boy were we wrong!!! more

Too bad 10/23/2007

I boarded my dog here a few times and every time I brought him home it took him a week and a half to get back to his normal self. The last time I boarded him here he came home with a few scabs around the neck area as if he had been in a fight with another dog. He is not an agressive dog at all. I mentioned it to the owner and she completely blew it off like it wasn't their problem. I would not recommend it based on these facts. more

Lack of Attention to Pet 10/5/2007

I took my dog to the Pet Hound Hotel for daycare 4 times. 3 of the 4 times he came home bleeding or sick. They seem to accepts an unlimited amount of dogs, but do not have enough people supervising. The last time I went I dropped him off in perfect condition, but when I went to pick him up my dog eyes were swollen shut. I confronted the staff and asked why they did not call and they just shrugged their shoulders. I had to take him to the Emergency Vet. more

Our Experience- not great 9/5/2007

We took our four month old puppy to Hound Dog for the doggie daycare. When I picked her up she had an accident in the lobby, which was not like her. I took her outside and she peed again for about 10 seconds. I noticed how every dog that was picked up needed to go to the bathroom immediately. She slightly smelled of urine, but I figured it was from the accident in the lobby. She then slept the entire car ride home. When we got home she drank two full bowls of water and tried to eat her leftover food from the morning (she usually never eats stale food). I fed her dinner and she was still hungry, so I fed her a bit more. She pooped 4 times that night and basically slept the whole time. She also growled a lot when she came home. She typically does not growl at all and the only time we have heard her growl is when she is playing with other dogs. We got the feeling that she only interacted with dogs and no staff ever really interacted with her. We don't think she was mistreated and the staff at Hound Dog was very nice to both myself and my husband, but we think she was not supervised very much. Since she is a puppy, she usually does not go to the bathroom, or eat, when she is around other dogs because she is too excited. She also does not sleep unless she is put in a separate area. I believe she was never separated from the other dogs and was over stimulated. Might be ok for another dog, but not good for a puppy. We also thought it was odd that they did not ask to check our puppy's temperment before allowing her to roam around with other dogs. Although we paid for a second day of daycare, we did not take her back. Pros: Pretty cheap for doggie daycare Cons: Dogs unsupervised all day long more

Worst DOG Kennel Ever 8/18/2007

I thought I had written the review about how the owner never smiled. Oh my gosh. I used to take my Golden Retriever there. (Karen the owner also has a golden and KIDS. I'm not sure which one scares me more. ) She has the worst personality I have ever been around. I can't believe she is still in business. Everytime I picked my dog up she smelled like urine. They also mistreated her which was the straw that broke the camels back. I haven't been back there in 2 years and would NEVER recommend Karen's Hound Dog Pet Hotel to anyone. I would rather leave my dog locked in my bathroom for 4 days unattended than bring my dog to her. It is the WORST kennel in the area. I live in Eden Prairie and know alot of people and all I hear is negative about her business. STAY AWAY!!!! Cons: Everything about the business more

What a joke. 7/27/2007

I recently went into the Hound Dog Pet Hotel, to check on prices & to see if I could get a tour of the place. The lady working at the front desk was helping a couple who were boarding their 2 dogs & their cat. They were returning customers, and their one dog. Annabell seemed very scared to be back there, and was barking and crying very loudly. One of the customers had asked the lady at the front desk if it was okay to set up another reservation while they were there, and said ""I have a lot of things to do, can you just do it when you come back to pick up your pets?"" .. he didn't really answer, and shook his head in agreement. Pros: Good sized kennels, for large animals. Cons: everything else. more

Objective Oppinion 7/15/2007

I know the Staff really well at hound dog pet hotel this place is not as bad as it is made out to be.The dogs get treated vary nicely. The staff there really does care about animals and its a joke to say that all of the employees don't like animals cause other wise why would they work there. Everyone is different there though some like them more than others. Dogs always get feed there unless they are sick. They always get there meds and get treated equal. But there is a big problem there its Karen Jackson she is a horrible by- pollar- women. She treats everyone like they are nothing and is vary racial. She is a horrible owner and has no idea how to run a buisness she steels from people and treats everyone like they are garbage. She needs to grow up and realize she can't do that to people or carma will come right back to her. She deffenitly has no idea how to run a buisness. She treats everyone like they are slaves for her and is so stupid it amazes me how she became a owner of a buissness when she doesn't even like animals. But I guess thats how life works when you get things handed to you. I would suggest when you bring your animals in be careful and don't listen to her cause she will lie and lie till the truth is way to far away from recognition. Just hope your animals dont end up getting sick cause she might not take them to the vet cause shes greedy. Just so you know she wrote the other reviews on here that are good ones and say how wonderfull everything is about hound dog pet hotel. Shes lost tons of employees do to how she treats them is this the kind of place you want to take your pets? Pros: The employees Cons: Not a great owner more

No people skills 7/5/2007

I left my dog there several times and was always disturbed at the way that some of the staff treated humans. Karen, one of the owners, never smiled, was always very unfriendly, often rude. Some of the people handling the dogs seemed to treat them appropriately but after a few times staying there my dog didn't really want to go there so I was getting concerned about how she was really being treated. more

Take your pet anywhere but here 5/2/2007

I have two dogs which I took on occasion to the Hound Dog for day care services. Both of my dogs are extremely social, love people and playing with other dogs so day care is just the thing for them when I have a hectic schedule and they need more attention. more

Convinient if you live nearby, but would not choose if I had other options 2/16/2007

The way they charge for the stay after you board your dog, charging a full day for a few hours even though they have daycare does not make any sense. Pros: location more

Nice, clean place 12/28/2006

I was impressed with the friendliness of service and the cleanliness of the place. ""Tours are available and welcome 7 days a week from the hours of 12pm-4pm. No appointments necessary."" While showing us around before we boarded our dog Max, they asked us questions about his age, temperament, any special needs, and so on - trying to get an idea of what might be best for him. The dogs there seemed to be fairly happy; the cages were clean and DIDN'T SMELL, seemed comfortable, and fairly large. We were able to book a spot for the 4th of July weekend with a week's notice. We were invited to bring Max's own bed, toys, and treats, if we wished, and were told that we could come visit him (or call and check on him) at any time during their regular hours. He was bathed and groomed while he was there, as an additional service. He came home from the weekend neatly trimmed, clean and happy - I can't think of a better recommendation than that. Pros: Friendly people, CLEAN place, dogs are happy Cons: a little pricey more

Objective Opinion 11/29/2006

I found the pet hotel to be nicer than I expected after reading other reviews. The building and lobby are very elegant and the kennels large and clean. My dog was a bit nervous to come in the first time but the staff up in the check in was really helpful. Schatzie seemed to calm down as soon as the helpers put her button on her. The lady at the front desk was personable and made me feel comfortable. She told me I could call and check on Schatzie as often as I needed. That made me feel quite a bit more at ease as I have really been hesitant to board her for such an extended period of time. I was prepared for bad customer service, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their jobs and I got a good feeling from them. When I picked her up she was excited and seemed happy to see me. She came home clean and smelling good from her bath and proceeded to fall asleep on my lap immediately after dinner. She must have had a good time playing with the other dogs because she was tired! Her medicine was given as directed (she is on insulin) and she came home healthy. I will use them again (she is booked for the holidays) and I will recommend them to my coworkers and friends. Pros: Staff, nice kennels, good hours Cons: I wish there was one in Stillwater more

My dog LOVES this place! 11/16/2006

My little dog has been coming to the Hound Dog hotel for a little over a year and a half. He really loves the staff that brings him up from daycare and ALWAYS comes home tired. The groomer Morgan does a great job with his haircuts and he has never been worried or anxious to come back the next time. I have boarded him several times (8-9 different stays) and have never had a problem with anything. They actually washed his bed before they gave it back to me and that's WAY better than the last place he boarded at (when the ""hotel"" was full) where they gave it back to me filthy and smelling like urine. So, all in all, I would not hesitate to recommend their place to any of my friends and family. I would question the motives of the other reviews I read here. Nobody is perfect, but I am very confident that my dog has been and will be taken care of by people that truly love dogs. Pros: Tons of playtime at no extra charge, very clean facility Cons: Hours! Please open a little earlier!! more
