Hidmo Eritrean Cuisine

I visited Hidmo, and didn't really like the food, but that is because I am a picky eater and don't like eaing anything unfarmiliar to me. My brothers and Dad enjoyed it very much, they liked the unfarmiliar, ethnic cuisine and dining experience. it was served on the flatbread thing that i for get the name of, and the food had a lot of flavor. I stuck with the beef because it didn't taste very strange, but if you enjoy an out-of-the ordinary dining experience, it's great to come here. Also, this is not a place where you can eat alone, come with a grop, order one thing for every 1-2 people,and it is all shared. also, you get to eat with your hands. WOO-HOO! more

You probably want to know what the difference is between Eritrean and Ethiopian food. I, unfortunately lack the knowledge to discern the difference. But Hidmo is a fantastic place to eat. The server I've had every time I've been there (she may be the owner, I'm not sure) is incredibly warm and high-energy, and is very proud of the food. And it's true that the food is pretty much without fault- the injera is perfectly sour and spongy, and both the meat and vegetable dishes are memorable. Make sure you try the hot sauce they offer, it is very complex and impressive. If you like Ethiopian, try Hidmo. If you haven't tried much Ethiopian food, Hidmo would be a great place to dip your toe into East African cuisine. Also, it's a very good value. more
