Best food in town 7/7/2011

Best food in town Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood. The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you. The appetizers are delicious. Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance. Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived more

Very Authentic 1/24/2011

There's a lot of sushi in this neighborhood but Hide really stands out. \r \r The atmopshere is nothing to write home about. But it is functional. On the other hand, the food is to die for. Everything is great but I most enjoy the sushi, sashimi, and chirashi. It is fresh and perfectly prepared. It is in an area with many other places, but it stands out for its consistency and quality.\r \r more

Pretty good food 3/4/2010

I was planning to go to Tofu Ya yesterday but the long line drove me away... So I ended up in this place. For dinner, they have the regular teriyaki / tempura sets as well as a sushi menu. I got myself a Chirashi (sashimi over bowl of rice). Pretty good, paid $17 including tax and tips. Cash only though so make sure you have enough cash. I didn't drive but they have their own parking lot. Pros: Good food Cons: $$$, but hey it's Japanese food in west LA more

Good Sushi 7/11/2009

Being new to LA and loving sushi, my friend said that I needed to try. We waited in line outside of the restaurant for about 15 min before we were able to get a table. The menu is pretty simple and I thought the sushi was very good. The rice had a nice flavor and I could tell that they've been in business a long time. They seemed to know what they were doing, I love places like this. The kitchen menu looked good and will have to comeback again. Pros: sushi Cons: parking, cash only more

Great food, Great service 7/11/2009

best sushi, and awesome service too! 11/26/2008

i dont know what all these people are complaining about service for. if you come once and throw a fit about 3 people on a 2 person table, you need to go to california pizza kitchen or something because your a panzy. i sit with 3 people at a 2 person table all the time, and ive never had a problem. tables have 4 sides. dont be retarded.\r \r \r the sushi here is the best in la period. Pros: food, area Cons: nothing more

Really - no service and an ignorant attitude? damn and the reviews said otherwise... 10/26/2008

""Eaten here before and have had a great time, fish wass fresh and the service was on point.\r \r Cue tonight.\r \r Wow, ridiculously ineffective sushi chefs (2 were in front of us rolling sushi like is a a slow motion sport - while also forgetting orders and not being attentive to our party of 2 or the party of 2 to the right of us) and atrocious wait staff.\r \r Our server wouldn't look us in the eyes at all nor would she address us directly - a request to opt for Sushi Rice in a bowl rather than regular steamed rice was shot down with a resounding NO. Now I'm not that fragile of an individual and a simple ""I'm sorry but no"" would have been fine - but the barking wasn't exactly making the meal any more fun on top of the existing service.\r \r Chalk that up along with continued lapses of service (at this point we'll call that their par for the course) and we left with the most meager of tips, and on second thought, event a dollar would have been too much of a tip. \r \r The recap - \r \r Horrible service, you want fresh fish and great service - Sakura on Centinela is ridiculous and you'll love it, or Kaya on Washington for innovative rolls with incredible taste and A+ service."" Pros: When it's on, it's on. Cons: It's rarely on. Service will make you want to off yourself, and the wait staff. more

AWFUL SERVICE 10/26/2008

i have NEVER been so angry leaving any establishment.\r \r terrible atmosphere, terrible service. i couldn't figure out why the sushi chef and waitress were being so rude. i love good food and especially good sushi, so i'm willing to spend my hard-earned money on it, but i couldn't handle it in there. i spent $10 at hide not because it's cheap, but because i couldn't stand that place for another second and would rather eat leftovers at home.\r \r my boyfriend and i will never go back. Pros: neighborhood Cons: service, food, atmosphere. more

A Sawtelle Landmark 10/11/2008

I love this place! On one hand the lines are long and they only take cash. On the other hand, my family has been coming here for years, I mean YEARS and the food is the same as it was years ago. They don't try to have everything on the sushi menu like other places or be too fancy that you'll wait forever. They get you in, fed with good food, and then get you out. They have a lot of regular customers, as we see each other in line. Pros: The food is the same as it was years ago Cons: long lines, cash only, parking more

So good! 8/18/2008

Hide has such good sushi at such an affordable price! This place is awesome to go to after work with friends. It's small and the line is always long but worth the wait. Try to come before 7pm to beat the crowd. This is totally a once-a-week restaurant that everyone can enjoy. Pros: Great sushi Cons: Long lines more

Great value. 7/5/2008

Decent sushi at good prices and good service. There is always a wait. but it's worth it. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but NBD. Pros: Food, value Cons: wait, parking more

Good food, but cramped 5/22/2008

The sushi is good and I like that they offer the basics including tempura and teriyaki. The only problem is that there isn't much seating and I can't help feeling a bit cramped when I'm there. But, even if there is a wait, it usually isn't a long one. Also, they only take cash! Pros: Sushi/food, well priced Cons: Not enough seating more

Decent Sushi for a quick fix 5/15/2008

Used to go here alot, Never been WOWED. Lots of Japanese patrons so I guess they must be doing something right! Lots on the menu, fish is fresh but not as fresh as Komasa, Ankimo is good. I heard management had been changed and the standard went down, Fish is decent and probably fresher than most restaurants. Used to go here quite alot before I changed loyalties. For the price though, I would rather go to Komasa. Pros: Fresh fish, decent sushi Cons: small cuts, not the best more
