Pricey but worth it for the design and graphics. 2/24/2009

My husband and I visited the shop this afternoon. At first it was a little intimidating being there really wern't price tags on many items. This usually means high end! After making my way further into the store I realized that wasn't the case. Much of the merchandise was priced about the same as stores I had already been shopping at. THe diference was the designs were unique and not just intended to entertain baby with shiny objects. What attracted me most were the graphics used to create design concepts for a fashion forward nursery. They had fabulous mobiles and wall art! I loved the baby apropriate designs a contemporary mom can appreciate. I'm so tired of the expected disney or pooh bear themes. The girls in the store let us know they were available, but let us shop and take it all in. When we finally had some questions they had a ton of info. They had no problem with walking us thorough the hole registry process. It's easy to get overwelmed. They were really sensitive to our intrest in saving money and honest about all the options and what is really necessary. I felt they were really intrested in helping . They also didn't hesitate to recomend other store or vendors if you had needs they couldn't provide. All there products are none toxic so they are some things you may not find here. We ended up having a really plesant afternoon. Pros: The ambience, service, and quality of products were the best I've seen so far. Cons: Some things are out of my budget but they had plenty of things that seemed worth the cost! more

Great Shop, Great Merchandise 1/10/2009

Had walked into Grow a few times before ever making a purchase and always appreciated the relaxed feel of the store despite the high design merchandise. I suppose this could be interpreted as disinterest as mentioned in the other reviews, but I aways found it nice...lots of time to look around and check out the great baby gear without feeling pursued by a salesperson. When I did purchase something, the service was excellent. Pros: Well Designed, Eco and Baby Friendly Gear; Good Service Cons: It's not Target and it's probably not made in China, so you'll pay high prices more

Not helpful staff 6/23/2008

As a new, stay-at-home mom, I came all the way from the South Loop to check this place out. The first obstacle was the front door. There is a step! It is a baby store and I would presume a good number of patrons have strollers. I have a Bugaboo which is massive and by the time the lady working there came to help I was already in the door. I had questions about gDiapers and she was not helpful, did not offer to show me how to use them, and pretty much said to go online to find out the answers. She then sat there as I looked around, did not speak to me and so I left. In response to the other comments, it doesn't seem to matter what brand your stroller is, they are rude to us all. Pros: Unique products Cons: Staff more

You don't always get what you pay for. Business 101 Course Needed 4/22/2008

While we absolutely loved the merchandise at the store, the service was a complete nightmare. After placing our order (and paying half of the order), we were informed some of the pieces were no longer available. The owner made no concessions for this but since we had really liked the items, we just decided to change slightly. Delivery and set-up was scheduled (which is an extra cost) - but we were then told we'd need to help bring the pieces in, so I'm not sure exactly why we would pay for delivery. Part of paying is that you don't have to do anything. We then decided to just pick up on our own from the store. Before pick up we were asked if we could come to the warehouse instead, which was fine as it was reasonably close - but then were told we could only pick-up when it was convenient for them (not when we had people available to help) - so we said it just needed to be @ the store at a certain time then. We picked up the products and were informed a certain piece had yet to come in - which we had paid for, but since it was the ""toddler conversion"" and we wouldn't be needing for a while, it wasn't that important. We still have not rec'd this piece. In opening everything we did receive, there was an entire other piece that was not included which they needed to go back to the warehouse to pick-up. The experience from start to finish was an absolute hassle and it's still not over. If the company did not carry lines that were not available in other places, we would have definitely cancelled the order. They are lucky they carry baby furniture, so it is a one time deal for the most part. If that wasn't the case, I don't think many people would be going back! more

cool contemporary baby furniture 1/18/2008

They have a nice selection of contemporary baby furniture which can be very hard to find. I recommend checking out their store if you want something different for your nursery. more

Excellent Service and Unique Products 10/24/2007

As a mom with a 1year old and 4 year old, I am a frequent shopper at Grow and have had nothing but great experiences. The staff is knowledgeable and patient and is always available to help without being pushy. They have assisted me on numerous occasions choose great gifts for hard to shop for friends, while being considerate of my budget. \r \r The open layout of the store makes it easy to see the products and you can effortlessly navigate a stroller while shopping. The staff has also been great about helping me get into and out of the store with stroller and packages in hand.\r \r Grow is definitely worth a special trip to Division Street if you live outside the neighborhood!\r Pros: Unique clothing you won't see on every kid around, hard to find modern nursery furniture, knowledgable staff Cons: Parking can be tricky but never takes more then a few turns to find a spot. more

Incredibly Rude Staff 9/29/2007

I walked in on a Saturday afternoon with my husband, baby (in stroller) and mother-in-law and the two women working in the store (one was an older woman with curly grey hair, the other a young woman) completely ignored us. Not a hello, not a welcome, not a smile. Perhaps because we weren't pushing a Bugaboo they assumed we coudln't afford their merchandise. We spent 20 minutes in the store looking at the merchandise and I would have purchased a table and chairs but not one word hello or ""May I help you?"" and I decided to give my business elsewhere. There was only one other family in the store, and the mother was breastfeeding her newborn, so it wasn't as if they were too busy. Very Rude, and very pretentious. When you walk into a baby store, WITH A BABY, you'd think the sales staff would be helpful. Will not go back. more
