Great after hour louge 3/14/2008

Great Place to hang out and enjoy a great meal, the staff is excellent and I had a party of 15 people and everyone left happy, and they were from out of town. I host birthday partys I would love to host one there.\r ecjr. Pros: Great Place to have a nice time with friends and loveones Cons: I can get in touch with someone to set up a party. more

Nice Atmosphere 3/9/2008

I was really impressed with the setting and the live entertainment. We all really enjoyed that. Unfortunately, we were not that impressed with the food. It wasn't terrible, but not worth the prices. We all agreed to return, but next time we would eat before we got there and sit at the bar to enjoy the entertainment. Also, Heather was not a bad waitress. She was very nice. I must also say that they need to be prepared for their crowd. My husband and friend order the Salmon, but of course after they placed the order with the waitress, she had to come back and tell them that they didn't have any salmon. Duh...if it is on the menu, you need to make sure you can cover it! I could see if we had gotten there for a very late dinner, but it was only 8:00pm and the place was not packed yet! Overall, we had a great time and tried to enjoy our food as much as we could, but I do recommend that you go, just eat before you get there!! Pros: Ambiance, Live Entertainment, Clean Restrooms Cons: Food more

Great atmosphere 3/1/2008

A group of friends & I visited last week & we were initially pretty impressed. A friend was 45 min. late but the reservation was held for us, and the interior is beautiful; very open and serene with muted colors. Once we were seated, however, we met Courtney our server (not impressed). She got our drink orders wrong, pretty much ignored us all night, returned only once (we had to keep asking other servers for assistance), & 2 friends had to leave before the check was brought to us (Courtney was NOT happy...), 2 friends went to the bar to get drinks b/c she never returned...But, the food was great (had the salmon, very good), and the live music was really good too (lively & not too loud). Overall, I would go back but I would NOT want to be with Courtney again!! Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Courtney more

STOP THE MADNESSS 2/8/2008

I visited the spot in Oct. 2007 (open a month or two) to see if I wanted to host my 30th bday. Me and three of my friend meet up, didn?t have any trouble with parking or getting a table. The place has a really nice ambiance and the live band add a personal touch. But, when we ordered our food it took a long time for it to come back and two of the orders were wrong. My friend sent her food back and ordered something else because it was not good. (I don?t like sending food back ? figure that out..) I think the food is over priced for the less than average taste. The portions are ok but not cooked with ?LOVE?. Let?s just say I did not host my party there. Assuming this is a ?black? establishment you would think the food was on point. I just went back recently feb 2008 and the place still looked like it had the nice ambiance and great music. It was my friend?s bdayThis time they ask me to pay a cover charge of $10. WHAT????? I politely held up my church finger and said one moment and walked myself right out the door and went home. I have never heard of having to pay to eat a restaurant. IS THIS A CLUB OR A RESTAURANT? I?m confused :s When and why is this allowed? When my friend got home she wondered what happen to me and I told her and she told me they didn?t charge them. (THAT?S WHY I?M WRITING THIS REVIEW) I arrived at this place at 930 why would I pay $10 when they close at 10:00 (just looked that up maybe it?s changed), but still you get what I?m saying. So if you decided to valet (assuming $5) and pay the cover charge, you would have spent $15 before ever being seated. WHAT??? And you have to pay for food and drinks and (perplexed look). Don?t get me wrong it?s a nice environment for the GROWN (mature adults), but don?t go to eat, just enjoy the music and have fun with your friends. At least at the club ladies get in FREE before 10:00 Pros: ambiance, people, music Cons: nasty food, over priced, restaurant charging a $10 cover charge (unacceptable) more

Very enjoyable 1/18/2008

I visited Grooves about a month ago, I was very hesitant after I read the reviews. I must say I enjoyed myself, the food was good, and the atmosphere was very cozy. I have recommended this place to several of my very close personal friends in and out of town. They went, and had a blast. The only thing I have to agree with the others on, is the valet. (PARK YOUR OWN VEHICLE). I say train them properly, or just don't offer it. It took me 45 minutes for them to retrieve my vehicle. (Can you say ridiculous?).....Other than that small flaw, I will return. more

A Grand Disappointment 1/7/2008

I went for my birthday. I will give you the same description I gave my mom. It's like meeting someone who looks exactly like you've always wanted someone to look but having absolutely no substance what's so ever! The service was horrible. I requested the manager, he/she never arrived. I made a reservation for 20, they gave me two seperate tables. How can I sit with my guests if they are at two seperate tables? It's a beautiful place, but unless you're going just to drink and enjoy music, I would not waste my time. They really need to do better and decide if they want to be a restaurant or a club. Pros: Nice Ambience, Thriving Social Scene Cons: Slow, unresponsive service, Poor Drinks (they swapped my wines) Parking is difficult, would recommend valet, Food is subpar more

Got dupped on my birthday!!!! 1/4/2008

I had visited the Groove before back in Sept 2007. I thought the atmosphere was great and Ms. Mary was great live entertainment that all my family and friends could relate to no matter what their ages were. The food was a little so-so and pricey for what you get. That was the only downfall at the time. I called back in the beginning of October 2007 to make my birthday plans for Dec 8th, 2007. I reserved 5 tables for 20 people in front of the stage. I even called to verify on December 4th my reservations. I was told no problem as long as my guest arrived at 730 prompt. I was very excited and in a good mood but that faded quickly!! . I drove up in the parking area- valet guys came in my face as I OPEN MY CAR DOOR DEMANDING PAYMENT before they even parked my car!! I was informed I had no reservations, no tables were set-up, my guest where sitting in the lobby looking puzzled. I was given rude looks by the hostess and made to sit in the front lobby area until she let the rest of the guest in who had reservations!!!! How HUMLIATING! Tried of waiting -asked to see the manager. I was told by the manger that my seating was BUMPED due to a paying party and would have to wait until tables became available. A weak apology. No offers of complimentary drinks or food. Once seated the waitress was nice-but added other people?s tabs on my bill. I can not say I had the experience I should have had on my birthday but made the best of it. I f you decided to make reservations for a celebration at Groove Restaurant and Dinner Club beware of someone with deeper pockets then yours!!! You will be kicked to curb!!!! So sad for your you guys-so much potential!! 2 stars for you!!! Pros: entertainment Cons: management and staff are unprofessional and unorganized more

Hot Spot 12/19/2007

Man, the cocktail waitress are hot! When you visit, ask for Candice or Shayna to help you. These ladies are the finest cocktails in Grooves. Brent (manager) was cool! This place is the hot spot! Something different from the club scene. Although, some of the same club head girls work their. Go, Go, Go! Pros: candice and shayna Cons: see some of the same club tricks more

We love the service but the Managers were Great!!! 12/16/2007

We had a reservation for 9:00, I called the restaurant to confirm the reservation and they could not find it the hostess was so nice she let me speak to a manager and he was so accommodating to me he told me if I come at 10:00 he would make sure I had a table for our inconvience. When we arrived with our party we were sat immediately and our waitress was promptly at our table with a smile. Her name was Dominique and she was great!! We did not want for anything and we had 17 people in our party. The two managers me and my friends saw were 2 Large (6?1 6'2 probably Football players) extra cute gentleman dressed very well and very attentive to all of the guest and they came to our table to check on us several times and made us feel special. I think the managers name I talked to on the phone was Jason I did not get a chance to meet him personally to thank him for our table and the excellent service we received. Thank you Grooves for giving us a wonderful evening,\r \r Barbara Davis Pros: The excellent service, the music, the food, and the 2 cute Managers Cons: Nothing we had a great time more

great place....bad waitress 12/13/2007

I was invited out to grooves by some girlfriends. We had girls come from Austin, TX. There were probaly nine of us. When I walked in the door, I was eagerly excited by the atmosphere that I was seeing. Nice and clean and it was obvious an upscale sophisticated adult place. We were seated my a hostess and a gentleman took our drink orders. It was not until after the waitress took our order that I found out from one of the girls that the waitress told her that she was not going to be able to make separate checks. Now, granted we had not even asked for separate checks but this waitress upon greeting her for the first time at the table immediately informed her that this was a policy. Unfortunately, this set the tone for the rest of evening which was a little uneasy. The waitress asked me twice what my order was after she had taken it. Once we thought everything was okay. She came up to me again after about twenty minutes and tried to confirm which salmon dish I had ordered. I was of course not happy because I'm thinking my food is not coming out with the rest because twenty minutes had already elapsed and now she is asking this of me. The band was great the mood was wonderful the place was overall nice. The one waitress made it horrible for us. We found out from the manager that we could pay by our meals if we wanted to but it would take a little time to figure it out. That was fine but we never initially asked for that. The waitress was rude. The manager was too generous. He sent us a bottle of champagne and he helped the waitress figure out our bill. I will definitely patronize the establishment again when I am in Houston but I will make sure that I do not have the waitress with the bald cut and long spider leg eyelashes. more

Wow!! This is the palce to be on the weeknd in Houston!!!!! 12/12/2007

Grooves is HOT!!! Not only is the all adult athomsphere is perfect, the food is superb. We have not dined in the dinning room yet but we sat at the bar enjoyed the sights and ate every thing on the bar menu form crab cakes to cheese cake and had excellent drinks from the bar!!! I had a few clients from out of town and all they have been talking about are those crab cakes and asparagus with crab meat. I am very happy that we have a place in houston to have a great meal enjoy some live music and relax with adults!!! See you on Friday at Grooves!!! Pros: The people, the food, and the COCKTAIL WAITRESSES!!! Cons: Non more

We had a GREAT TIME!!! 12/12/2007

We visited Grooves on this past Saturday and it was a full house. We had a reservation for 9 people but about 5 extra people came. The hostess sat the 9 we had and the others arrived without any seating they went and found us an extra table and put it near our reserved booth that we had. They did not have to do this for us but they did. We had a nice waiter who recommended excellent dishes and the food was great. Even though there were a lot of people they took great care of our party. We also cam back for Sunday brunch the next day that was also fabulous especially those baby back ribs. I am not sure why people will write such caulis thing about this place but it is not everyone who visits, some customers can be very difficult because people are difficult and rude so the assume every one is the same way. We will be back at Grooves this weekend with more of our friends to enjoy the place.\r \r Great Food, Excellent Service and just nice people that accommodate their customers. I love it keep up the good work.\r \r Hillary Johnson\r Pros: Everything Cons: people who dont have anything good to say but want to bash a nice place more

Watch it over here! 12/9/2007

I Visted this place for a second time with my fiancee and it was a big mistake. First we were charged a cover charge due to not have any reservations. 10 DOLLARS PER PERSON SKYBAR RATES! (i find something wrong with that). I am currently checking with the news company to see since this is a resturant do they have right. to do this. The staff is rude and bad. The drinks are bad and they don't know the prices of nothing (they charged me 2 different prices for the same drink) What is up with that bad and the half dressed lead singer flirting with all the men while she sings. The services will be the downfall of this club. Pros: Ambience Cons: services, greed more

love the band and ambience. 12/5/2007

My husband and I dinned and thought the establishment was very nice and intimate. Unfortunately I also believe the service will be the downfall. Note to owners handle this before it's too late it'S a place I would love to revisit with friends. Pros: THE BAND AND AMBIENCE Cons: THE SEATING IS LIMITED more

The nerve of this place!!!!! 12/3/2007

This was my second visit. My husband and I had such a pleasant experience the first time that I decided to have my 31st birthday party there. BIG MISTAKE!!! Some guy named Jason who I assumed was the manager was the cause of most of this mess. Where do I begin....1. had a reservation for 16 but was seated at a table for 4 and told that they would not set up for the rest of the party until later. The table for 16 was not set up until half of my guest began arriving at which time we were told to stand by the stage while they arranged the tables. 2. They would not split the check according to what my guests ordered-they insisted that everyone had to pay the same amount because I had too many guests...WHAT??? So they expected my sister, whose dinner cost $18 to pay $40 so they didn't have to ring up different amounts. If I had gone to Pappadeaux they would have done it. After 30 mins of arguing with them my brother paid for everyone's meal. 3. 5 minutes after the bill was paid we were told that we needed to get up so they could accomdate other guests-we would be taken to the VIP lounge. The VIP lounge was a dark room with a small TV in the corner with people eating off of trays-it was an isolation room-couldn't see or hear the band and the room was tucked away in the corner. 4. DO NOT VALET- the first time we visited this place the valet tried to give us someone else's car. This second visit, not only did they give someone my car but the lady they gave it to began driving off before realizing it was not hers-What's the point of giving us a ticket if you don't know how to distinguish which car belongs to which customer. 5. When asked why the band was starting to play 1 hour late I was told it was to ""keep down confusion while people are eating""-I have never gotten confused when listening to music and eating! Jason needs a course on resturant management and customer service. This place was a great idea but horrible customer service will be it's downfall. Pros: Ambience and band are excellent Cons: customer service, valet parking, management practices, cannot accomdate large groups effectively more

Grooves Bar & Louge 12/1/2007

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The parking was bad, the hostesses were classless and the food was bland. The drinks was over priced for what you recieved and not to mention again the hostesess were classless. Upscale was the appearance but trash is what we got. They need to do some serious changes as far as employees. I will say this the waitress were really nice and prompt with bringing the drinks back but everyone eles there was classless unapproachable. This place won't last!!!!!!!!!!!! more

The live entertainment makes the experience worth while 11/8/2007

We (party of 3) visited Grooves one evening...parking was simple and inexpensive. The host and service was pleasurable. The food was good restaurant quality food. The crowd was a gathering of 'ladies' and 'gentlemen' , a professional and layed back group. The live entertainment was the icing on the cake and made the 1 hour trip well worth the drive. The young man performing that evening was superb. We would like to have heard more of his singing. He has a soulful voice. We will definately visit again and have been recommending this location to our employees, clients, family and friends. We had an enjoyable evening and left satisfied. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Entertainment Cons: None to mention at this time more

Waste of Money,Shabby service, Bland food, Bad drinks 11/4/2007

1. Parking is not a problem, there is prompt, inexpensive valet ($5)\r 2. Service was AWFUL, our waiter was some lazy male VERY slow about things and inattentive.\r 3. The food, AWFUL, very BLAND little to no seasoning. This place would be great for people with health conditions. We had a table of about 10 and there were not any great comments on the food. I had the salad with blackened shrimp and chicken. I can't say enough how awful it was. Another person had pasta Alfredo, awful (bland) even with salt and pepper.\r 4. THE DRINKS! Pricey and NOT good. Martinis were not on point.\r 5. The decor is absolutely fabulous! It has a red romantic warehouse appeal with unique booths!\r 6. The crowd is mature (mellow)\r 7. The live band and singers perform on a large floor stage with a nice dark wooden floor that guests can dance on. They were pretty good!\r 8. Overall if the drinks and food were improved, the place would be ideal.\r Pros: Ambience,Parking Cons: Service,Food,Drinks more
