Best

The Sierra Club meets here every Tuesday and Thursday for Night Hikes. I can't recommend this enough. Since moving to the area, I've been coming here almost every week and love it...

Worst

My company had a little shindig not to long ago and i was surprised on how nice it was. I have heard alot of stuff that goes on at night but as far as during the day it was pretty...

Racial Profiling 10/19/2009

as a young kid I used to love coming out to the Observatory and the Griffith Park with family and friends as a parent, lately the park rangers have harassed and complicated things at the park with their racial profiling. Hispanics can't even spend a good time with families without a park ranger questioning them and straight out asking them to leave the park. I will never return to this place because of the racial profiling that goes on there with the park rangers. Pros: Great place for the American Family Cons: Bad place for Hispanic Community more

griffith park 1/6/2009

this park is beautiful! you can walk forever and its so nice and its FREE! how many places in LA are like that? not many. more

Go GP!! 11/17/2006

The Sierra Club meets here every Tuesday and Thursday for Night Hikes. I can't recommend this enough. Since moving to the area, I've been coming here almost every week and love it! Summer's obviously better as it's lighter later at night, but there are five (rarely six) levels of hiking. It's very beautiful here and I've hiked all over the park, walked through it, picnicked, and even ridden horses through it. It's awesome. more

Hiking Griffith 6/11/2003

With over 60 miles of hiking trails there is something for everyone, with dozens of wonderful surprises. Pros: Great Trails, Easy Access, Great Variety more

Fun anytime 2/6/2003

I love Griffith - it was the first place that allowed me to connect with LA - the view from the museum is amazing, and worth driving to. It's never truly crowded, and you can go up and read a book on the lawn if you want to. Pros: Free, Beautiful Cons: Windy, Closes early more

Picnic time 9/14/2002

My company had a little shindig not to long ago and i was surprised on how nice it was. I have heard alot of stuff that goes on at night but as far as during the day it was pretty nice. The kids could run around and play without getting hurt and there were plenty of picnic tables for at least a good crowd. The grass was nice and there were a few trees to sit under. The best thing? When you got tired of the fake talking .. you sneek away and get lost behind some trail and watch them in the distance..hee hee Cons: mobile bathrooms more

One of L.A.s finest retreats! 8/24/2002

Griffith Park is a hidden jewel nestled in the heart of Los Angeles. Often overlooked and underappreciated, it's also not very crowded. Attractions within the park include the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum, the Los Angeles Zoo, and Train Town. There are also innumerable hiking, biking, and horse riding trails, (including horse rentals). If you want to get away from the city for a while, Griffith Park is the place to go. more

Griffith Park 7/26/2002

Griffith park is located right next to the L.A Zoo. Man the horror stories I've heard here. You always hear about some one getting stabbed or shot at this park. If I had kids I wouldnt bring them here. Train Town is cool though which I'm not sure is either part of griffith park or right next to it. But they got some old trains and a train ride that would appeal to youth's. You can also pay a couple bucks and ride a horse around a small trail. Not that bad during the day just stay away during late night hours. You can go jogging around griffith park or just throw the frisbee around. Theres plenty of vendors selling ""corn on a stick"", churros, ice cream and whatever. Its possible to have a good time at this park. I just dont care too much for it. more

relax 7/2/2002

a nice place to take a walk and just let all of that LA traffic wash away. watch out for the skunks and the rattle snakes. sounds exciting right? right? more

Biking is great 6/6/2002

The lower section features a great 8 mile bike path with a nice hill in the back. There's a connected ride with a section of the L.A. River which can extend the ride another 10 miles or so. If you're feeling like a nice long climb, you can go up Vermont to the Observatory, it's a nice 2 mile climb. Don't bother going on weekend afternoons for any reason, picnicers tend to treat the park like their personal garbage can, it gets pretty trashed, nasty. They do a good job of cleaning overnight though. more

Great Park 5/21/2002

There are many things to discover in Griffith Park! One of my favorites is the night hikes the Sierra Club leads. Pros: Fun, Scenic, Accessible more

Beautiful, scenic tennis 5/18/2002

Nestled in the foothills of Griffith Park, these tennis courts (about 15 of them) are well-maintained and scenic. It costs about $15 to become a ""member"" here, after which you may reserve a court by telephone. Courts are free during week and $6/hr on weekends. Pros: Scenic, Can park very close, Reservable courts more

Fun hikes...bring your dog. 5/15/2002

It's definatly peaceful. The trails are easy and beginner friendly. Great views and makes you feel a hundred miles away from the big city. It's a great break from the L.A. pace... more

Beautiful Sunsets, Good Bike Paths 5/14/2002

Skip the observatory--it's usually crowded (and trashed) anyway. Wait 'til dusk and then go directly to the roof; the view of the city at sunset is really stunning. Also love the bike trails on the lower half of the park. Ride early tho--they get crowded by mid-morning on the weekends. more
