Worst club experience 1/24/2011

I went there this past Saturday with a group of friends and we bought a table. BIG MISTAKE. There was another group with a table behind us that kept growing and growing. We asked to be moved to another table and were denied, we asked security to have some of the people that were not on the reservation to be asked to leave the area, we were ignored. Our bottles were knocked over twice by the party behind us. The "best" part was when security brought over the dancer and told us "move over". I explained to him that we could not move over because the other party was overflowing on to our table, his response was "she has to dance here". I asked him again to remove some of the other party and was told "you are spilling your drink on me" (duh! the people from the other party were bumping me and my drink). I had a horrible time and went home with a bruise on the back of my leg from being pushed repeatedly into the table and ice bucket. All in all, the staff was rude and we wasted money on a table because the crowd in our section was just as big as the crowd on the "dance floor". I recommend that they learn to treat people in your club, especially people spending money on their expensive bottle service, with more respect. Do not go here, and if for whatever reason you do, DO NOT DO BOTTLE SERVICE! more

Thanks for helping me NOT go here 1/9/2011

After reading all the reviews about the awful doormen and fake guest list that you think you're on I've decided to not make reservations for my 15 person birthday party. I wish what people thought about this place made a difference to the owners and managers. It's sad that you have to beg to spend your own money. chow ... and thanks again! more

Everything from building materials and garbage disposal, energy and water usage are regulated and reduced - Staff uniforms are made in Africa by Edun, a clothing company owned by Bono and his wife, Alison - Electricity for the sound system and the rest of the club is 100% wind-powered - Even the toilets save 15,000 gallons annually (We'll spare you with the details). more

not on holidays 12/13/2010

i came here for a Halloween party. OMG. forget it. the line was huge. the most importamt - we preordered entrance tickets online, but when we came overthere- they told us these are not eligible. oh come on....so we spent about an hour for the line, hald an hour for arguing with the manager. when we finally got in - the place was soooo packed up, you can barely get through the crowd, forget about dancing....well, ofcoz drunk ppl just throwing themselves on you, flying glasses full of alcohol spilling directly onto you..... but the music was ok, decorations too! more

Little fun 11/26/2010

I go to the greenhouse and little disappointed .They did not know how to mix the drinks. But the service was good. more

Charged $50 for a couple of beers!! STAY AWAY 11/16/2010

There's nothing exclusive about this club. The worst part of the night was getting charged $50 FOR 2 BEERS! Then the bartender with nail polish on his fingernails decides to automatically include 20% gratuity. A few hours later there was a $72 charge on my credit card. Apparently the club decided to include another 20% tip after we'd left. The club reversed the charges after bank intervened. This greenhouse club has a thieving bartender who should be fired!! more

Awesome time!!! 11/14/2010

I hate the doorman but i get the exclusive aspect. more

My Birthday 11/1/2010

I had my birthday party last Friday at Greenhouse and everything went amazingly well. I read a lot of reviews about the doorman but we have been to Greenhouse a few times and never had any issues. The doorman took care of our group. We made sure we got a table...although the bottle prices were a little steep but so is every "high-end" club in New York. The place got super packed but the music was great. Thank you Greenhouse!! more

Wednesdays! 10/27/2010

I have a love hate relationship with greenhouse, but wednesday has always been good to me. Music is on point! more

Great Event Space 10/21/2010

I was hear recently for a Private event for my company. Everything from the food to the space itself was perfect. They set up a few bars so we were never waiting for drinks. The Coat check was efficient too. The event went real smooth and i would definitely recommend this place for people looking to do a corporate or holiday event. more

Great Event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/14/2010

Thanks Greenhouse for making my niece's sweet 16 memorable. She loved the lighting and the mocktails. more

Worst club in the world, hittler equivalent doormen! 9/24/2010

Its 2:30 am right now and I just came home from a long drive from a Shitty club called green house! My sister, my cousin, another friend, and I were on line for almost an hour and waiting for this fake ass promoter to get us in. As soon as we got to the door w/our promoter the door man let 3 of our 4 people in and didn't let the 4th person come in! We pleaded with the door person that the 4th person is part of our group and that we came from such a distance and requested that they let the 4th person in, but the hair less fool acted like a jerk and told us its not his problem! Are you kidding me you break up groups or families that come to your venue, its like a party of 5 comes to a restaurant to eat but the concierge only lets 3 eat and tells the other 2 to go home! Does that make sense...do u think the other 3 will eat w/out the other 2??? Why would you do that....your club is not all that! There are venues much bigger and better than yours and they are way more friendlier at the door! I have never cursed out some one so bad as I did this ugly jack ass at the door. Needless to say we left, and have never felt so insulted, They promote there clubs wanting you to come just to be an ass to you at the door! Its clubs like this that kill our economy, and give NYC a bad name!! We are here to have a good time not have a hissy fest at the door! To top things off our promoter ditched us and told us he could not do anything for us, after texting us umpteen times to come join him, he ends up turning his back on us, not only that but he was laughing and mingling with the door people...what an ass! Do not go on Viro's list....very unreliable! Green house, for a club that has mildew in their windows and they make you wait on line on just to reject you! Guess what you messed with the wrong person, I am going to report you to every bureau in the state and make sure you get closed down! more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL 7/30/2010

I have never been treated so poorly at a club. The door staff was rude, and the bartender was an ass. He took my credit card AND ID just to start a tab, told me the minimum was $50 and then added 20% tip automatically for himself! He made me feel like a criminal, as if I would skip out on the tab EVEN THOUGH HE HAD MY ID. And I wouldn't have tipped him 20% because he was such a jerk. I mean, come on, a monkey could made a vodka tonic better than he could. It's not brain surgery. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER go back to this club. It is by far the worst place I have EVER been IN MY LIFE! Pros: NONE Cons: STAFF SUCKS more

Horrible 6/20/2010

If I could give a negative number of stars I would. The doorman needs to get off his high horse and see that he's at a $10/hour job. The promoter I talked to is a liar and can't make anything happen unlike what he said, "I'm the top promoter there, I can make anything happen." That is bullshit. We supposedly had a guestlist and couldn't get 5 girls in for a bachelorette party. THEIR EMPLOYEES SUCK AND RUIN YOUR NIGHT DON'T EVER GO THERE. Unless you want to be treated by dumbass idiot who thinks he is god. Pros: Nothing Cons: Rude employees more

Beautiful but okay 6/6/2010

Service was great but they sure can learn how to mix drinks. I've been here twice and both times we had lots of fun but drinks are not that great but it is eco-friendly Pros: eco-friendly Cons: drinks are not good more

don't waste your time! give ur $ to more deserving ppl 5/15/2010

My girlfriend had booked an april bachelorette party back in Jan with the club. There were 7 of us and they said minimum of 3 bottles.... We confirmed the reservation 2 days before no problem. When we got to the door we were turned away because they were "overbooked." The doorman was incredibly rude to all of us and told us to take it up with the girl we made the reservation with. We spoke to her- her response... "Are you wearing wigs?"- No we were not wearing wigs! We went someone else instead, extremely accomidating and much cheaper. So unless you want to wait in line dealing with a late 40's doorman on a power trip skip this joint. Pros: None Cons: Primarily the rude door man more

Disappointed 4/20/2010

To say I'm appalled would be to mild!!! I have visitors visiting from Brazil and I have a nephew on leave from the U.S. Navy. I sent them to your club to enjoy themselves. My nephew was REFUSED entry because he was in uniform!!!!! I have never been so embarrassed to here such BS in all my life How dare your doorpeople disrespect a member of OUR military. On top of that his friend was told it would be $100 to enter. I hope all who read this boycott your "club". I will be calling the newspapers also. Pros: NONE Cons: NO ENTRY?? more

Are you kidding me? 3/10/2010

I had been dying to come to this club for my 21st birthday, and I was very much let down. I knew a promoter, otherwise I don't know how people were getting in. I thought this was a club, but I went on a Wednesday night and it was definitely more of a lounge. NO ONE was dancing. It was just a bunch of people sitting at their tables, plus it's pretty small. The decor is beautiful, so they get props for that. Maybe this place is better on a different night. Pros: nice decor Cons: everything else more

Greenhouse rocks! 3/4/2010

What I really appreciate about Greenhouse is that there are two rooms so you have an option of what music you want to listen to. One room is always hip hop and the other house. I really like the rock parties on Monday nights as well. Ciao! more

Greenhouse is New York's First Eco-friendly Multi-functional event space, perfect for events & parties of all sizes

Owner Message
  • Greenhouse Events proves you can have a great time while supporting a green lifestyle. This SoHo Event Space is New York's first Eco-friendly destination, featuring a two level event space that can cater to corporate parties, private events, listening parties, holiday parties, bar/bat mitzvah, & other events.

This New York City Event Space is New York City's first L.E.E.D. registered Eco-friendly Event Space. This 2 floor, 6,000 square foot event space is built from recycled or recyclable materials; and has an environmentally conscious construction & design. Each floor can be booked separately or combined.

Among Greenhouse's most spectacular attributes is the transparent ceiling fixture, comprised of over 5,000 individually hung crystals, which is designed to emulate a rolling landscape & the bars which are comprised of clear recycled glass panorama designs.

Editorial
  • Jon B. (of Guesthouse and Home) puts a politically correct twist on the New York nightlife scene at this 6,000-square-foot bi-level club, located near the base of the Holland Tunnel. Five-thousand crystals dangle from the ceiling, while lush natural scenes peek out from the recycled glass bars. Bamboo floors and leafy wall coverings complete the heady look, giving Greenhouse an almost trippy "Alice in Wonderland" vibe. Upstairs, house music blares as club-goers pour bottles from the comfort of reserved tables. The downstairs bar area boasts a more traditional lounge. Both have VIP sections.

Hits: The downstairs lounge is where it's at. Low ceilings, perimeter seating and a great soundtrack of mostly old-school hip-hop provide a more intimate, relaxed atmosphere than the clubby scene that dominates the upstairs.

Misses: Although it seems that everyone in Hollywood has gone green, don't expect to mingle with celebs here unless there's a private party. It's generally the same crowd that hangs in the MePa District.
