Grace Heaven Organic Salon

I love Jane Webb. Being unable to find anyone in the MD/DC area who met my hopeful-standard of non-toxicity in hair care products, I started searching the NYC area, because I am frequently in the city. Hooray! I found Jane! After my first cut and highlighting experience with Jane, which was the best I'd ever had, both in skill and concept, I wondered how Jane could possibly repeat such a wonderful performance, but she did. In fact, the second time was even better than the first. I'm completely sold, a solid, enthusiastic, grateful fan of Jane's. By the way, I was able to go 3 1/2 months between the first cut/color and the second, and I was getting compliments on my hair the entire time. I have medium-short hair, and have never been able to go longer than 6-7 weeks while still maintaining a good shape. Jane is a rare gem. more

I came to Jane with a mess of black over-processed mangled, and botched hair. My experience at Grace Heaven Salon was fantastic! Jane was honest, witty and highly intelligent about my hair, organic products and what I needed to do to repair the mess I brought to her. She gave me amazing color that fits my skin tone and gave me an incredible cut. Jane is a true artist and an expert at her craft. I will only go to Grace Heaven Salon from now on and I only wish I had gone to them sooner. I highly recommend this fabulous organic salon! more

DO NOT GO HERE this woman needs to learn about customer service. she tries very hard to portray herself as a village hippy type (giving out optimism pins... puh-lease! what a joke she is not "optimistic") but she is BITTER,BITCHY, ABUSIVE, DISGUSTING, MEAN, and worst of all A BAD HAIRDRESSER!!!! I really tried to like this place because it is a cute hole in the wall- I went 3 times. jane did my blonde highlights the first two times, and had to FIX it up afterwards both times because she COULDN'T get it right the first time. she gave me a very hard time and was MEAN and horrific about having to fix up her bad job! the last time I was there I went to Yuki- who ALSO did a bad job on my highlights, and refused to fix it for me when i pointed out that i had just payed for highlights, and still have noticeable roots... WTF... its almost laughable. I will NEVER go back here again and neither should you. this place seriously sucks and I hope it closes down. Pros: cute setting Cons: JANE more

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the negative reviews I've read here about this place. I too wanted to like this place, but I am disappointed to say the least and I can't believe I spent so much money on such a terrible cut. more

It pains me to give this woman even 1 star. I went to Jane hoping to find a fabulous place where I could get the "safest" color. She did an absolutely terrible job with my color howevver. Brassy highlights, and just an overall botched job. She offered to fix it for me which I appreciated. However, just as I thought, when I arrived she proceeded to tell me how much better my hair looked now compared to the first visit and she did nothing wrong . This did not surpirse me in the least because from my previous visit I knew she was a person who would never take responsiblity for anything - always blaming someone else. She did proceed to fix it and because I was grateful she did with no charge I said I would return for a haircut. She refused to see me again because she thought I was too difficult. (I was never really planning on going back because this woman was extremely rude and abusive to her staff - embarrasing her assistant and talking to him with absolutely no respect ). Save yourself time, expense and aggravation and stay away from this woman. Pros: very nice assistant Cons: horribly rude, terrible service more

My haircut ranks as one of the top five worst cuts of my life. You know the feeling when you want to cry when you get home. Jane cut my hair and she did not pay attention to what I asked for and basically hacked away at my hair. If anything it seems as if she did the exact opposite of what I asked for. My hair is a mess and will take quite some time to recover from this nightmare cut. I recently moved to LA from NYC and in searching for a new local hair stylist and coming up empty, I am truly aware that no one matches the wonderful talents of Jane Webb and no salon matches the intimacy of Grace Heaven. I went to Jane on a citysearch whim and in the 5 years of seeing her have been inundated with reviews and requests for her number (and sent many happy clients her way). I am a serious color junkie (been highlighting since I was a teen) and it has been incredible to finally rid myself of the toxic chemicals with Jane's natural products. She is remarkably talented through all my phases--from beachy super blonde to chocolate brown--her color is alway multi-faceted and fits your skin tone flawlessly. The dry cuts are superb. And the special 2-chair salon peppered with Jane's flea market finds, farmer's market flowers and dreid fruits from one of her recent travels feels like a home, a welcome change from the factory-feel of so many salons. Jane herself is cultured and full of this interesting combo of hippy and fashionista sensibility and I always looked forward to my time in her chair to catch up on conversation. I've tried unsuccessfly to get Jane to move here, but for now have to be satisifed with her yearly west coast trips or my weekends back in NYC. Jane's space is undeniably the most beautiful boutique salon in New York City. Her talent for design, not just with hair, is evident by her gorgeous salon, Grace Heaven. She is a master at what she does and I am constantly surprised at how much I LOVE my new hair cut/color/style, after I visit her salon. Each time, each style, something different, and it is always followed by a tremendous amount of compliments! And most importantly of all, Jane knows all about the toxicity of the beauty industry, and knows how to care for you better than you can care for yourself. You will not be exposed to harsh chemicals, and synthetic fragrances to say the least, and will be exposed to the best and most cutting edge natural and organic products and information to help you make better and more informed decisions about your own personal beauty program. Got my hair cut by Jane after reading the spectacular reviews and deciding it was time I treated myself to a great haircut. I was not disappointed, not only did my hair look amazing in the salon but it looked runway ready when I let it air dry as well. I have a lot of fine wavy hair and an oval face and as I can't blowdry it to save my life, a lot of stock long layered cuts leave me looking like a frizzy poodle when my hair goes wavy. But this was the best haircut I've ever had. In fact when I finally had my hair cut again 7 months later by someone else in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil my Carioca stylist was floored when I told him how long ago I had cut my hair. He had never seen anything like it, needless to say the cut Jane gave me grew out beautifully. I couldn't recommend her more highly. Pros: Ambience, staff, great tea, skilled stylists Cons: small space albeit quite cozy more
