Absolutely delish! Great sushi :)

Rolls are very creative and tempra is probably the best in Boston. Everything else is adequate hence either you have to know exactly what you're ordering or have a knowledgeble wa...

Bad Service 7/15/2004

Fugakyu shouldn't be known for best sushi. They are not Japnaese restaurant, they taste mroe like Chinese trying to be Japanese. They used to be awesome but since they are so popular, they don't care about customers anymore. Last time I went there, my waitress didn't know how to speak English at all and one time I had take out order they gave me wrong food. I recommend Mr. Sushi or Ginza. more

Sushi and more 1/17/2004

The sushi at Fugakyu is generally the best in the city. They do, however, have an off day, so if you only go once and are not impressed, try it again. 9 out of 10 times it's just fantastic. Their selection of appetizers is remarkable. Pros: Sushi, Appetizers Cons: Long waits, Loud/Noisy more

fukagyu not the best by far 12/15/2003

I would say that i disagree with the choice of Fugakyu as citysearchs best in 2003 for sushi. I do believe they are good, and have an extensive menu, i do not believe there suchi is that great, there are many better places, in my opinion, OSUSHI and BLUE fin are excellent for sushi. Fugakyu is great for a place that offers all of japanese cuisine, just not for the sushi. more

expensive 11/14/2003

The entrees are expensive, and not special enough to merit the prices. The sushi is good, but expensive for what you get. The size of the nigiri is average, between the size of Blue Fin's and Oishii's. The caterpillar roll has tartar sauce in it, eww. The sushi bar has boat stream thing that's a bit annoying (complete with fake plastic sushi on it mowinv around and around). The decor and service was very good, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Pros: decor, service, good fish Cons: very expensive more

Sushi Heaven 10/21/2003

Fugakyu has so many choices, their menu is huge! It was a battle deciding what to order, but in the end, I was very pleased with our choices. The Philadelphia Roll was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone. If you sit near the bar, there is a rotatation belt that sends various types of sushi past you, and you just pick what you want. It was very cool. Pros: Huge Menu, Great Food Cons: Pricey more

Yummy Maki! 7/23/2003

Expansive menu with great quality sushi. Private rooms available for those who need some privacy. more

Very Consistent 4/21/2003

Fresh, delicious sushi, great apps. Wonderful service but long waits. Pros: Fresh, Great Variety, Service Cons: Lines more

the very best of boston 3/25/2003

Best spicy tuna roll, delicious catapillar roll, california roll and edamame appetizer. I recommend trying something new, everything is made beautifully, is fresh and fabulous. And also, if you are on a date wait for a table, the sushi bar feels fairly cramped. Don't forget too that there is a $15 minimum order per person. Pros: presentation, atmosphere, affordable Cons: $15 min. per person, slow waitstaff more

Good even if you aren't a seafood person 2/25/2003

I'm allergic to fish, but went with some friends for dinner. Plenty on the menu for me to eat and lots of fish & sushi for my friends. The waiter we had was very attentive and friendly. Pros: Good food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Long wait for a table more

Best Sushi and Service 1/8/2003

Being a sushi lover I have been to many sushi restaurants around boston and NOTHING compares to the service and quality of food. The dishes are elegant, the waitstaff is quick and very, very nice. Once you go here you can't go to anything else. more

best of the best 12/29/2002

Fugakyu is the bestest best Japanese Restaurant ever...it was beautiful, clean, friend staff especial the waitresses...great place to hang out to eat if you feel like a midnight chow down of Japanese food...they open till 2am... Pros: good staff, creative food Cons: somewhat expensive more

Swimmin sushi 12/6/2002

As Advertised. Great sushi at good price's. This place is the vinny testa's of sushi. So much food you need a fishy bag to take it home in. Everything is as fresh as if it leg's and just walked out of the ocean. A ten for food and a big fat 0 for parking. more

THE BEST 12/4/2002

BEST IN TOWN W/OUT QUESTION. IF YOU LOVE SUSHI THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE TO GO. more

Can't Get Better Than This 11/25/2002

This place is the real deal. My wife and I had one of the best sushi meals of our life - and we have had many. This is not a cheap restaurant but I wasn't looking for a cheap restaurant because you get what you pay for!! The owner, Jack, was so friendly and made sure that we had a great time. The spicy tuna roll was amazing - The spicy snow crab was great. The toro sashimi was the best quality and delicious. The service was very quick. We were in boston for the weekend from new york and we will be back to Fugakyu every future visit!! more

Waiting for one 11/6/2002

The sushi is fantastic, but the wait was unbearable. 1.5 hours! They claimed to not take reservations, but we saw tables with ""reserved"" placcards. They also refused to seat us because we had one missing person from our party! We watched party after party getting tables before us as we waited for our missing link! more

premium food with great atmosphere 11/2/2002

After lucking out by finding a parking spot directly in front of the restaurant, and getting in and being seated immediately (it was 5:50pm on a Saturday), my brother told our waiter we were in a little hurry. The amazing miso soup came out not 3 minutes later, which was then almost immediately followed by our meals. My brother had a delicious fried shrimp dish. My mother had a wonderful beef teryaki. Mine was a fried beef dish served with a slightly dissappointing barbeque sauce. The decor was wonderful, and the bathrooms were clean, what more could be asked for? Pros: Great food, Beautiful decor, Very prompt service more

Quality sushi! A Must for sushi lovers!! 11/2/2002

Quality sushi for a reasonable price. Not something you can say about many Japanese restaurants. Highly recommend and a must try for any sushi lovers out there. Pros: good food, resaonable price Cons: long wait more

Best sushi in Boston 10/25/2002

The sushi is excellent, the apetizers are almost as good as in Nobu Pros: excellent sushi more

Good late night food 10/3/2002

Very good food, good sushi, good environment. Open till late hours. more

food of the Gods!!! 10/3/2002

Fugakyu's outpost in Sudbury has the best sushi I've tasted, ever, anywhere. My only question is why is the head Sushi chef not the Iron Chef. Perhaps other chefs from around the globe would realize that his reign would never be toppled! The crispy baked salman maki is to die for! For a real treat try the seared sliced tuna appetizer in ponzou sauce. more
