To SROW who wrote the previous review ---- they indicated the word ""waiter"" was slow. I'm sorry, but Forest Room 5 has no waiters -- they are waitresses, all of them. So maybe y...

forest room 5 is the best 2/26/2007

forest room 5 is the best all around restaurant in denver. great bar scene after 9pm. go there mostly for the conversation but dinner is smooth and delicious. love to take a date there. Pros: great vibe/dinner Cons: stage is a little small for performances more

beautiful place 2/26/2007

love the menu, long and tastefully tasty. wonderful space. have been several times and always memory inducing. sometimes you get crazies like the women below but usually a really cool scene of people. the wine lists is eclectic and international which is the best. really my favorite place in denver. wish i leved closer. busy busy on weekends. Pros: music lighting space more

Do NOT waste your time....Horrible Owner 2/17/2007

The rudest owner/manager in Denver. Can't believe this guy actually manages a bar. So many other great options, go somewhere where you are appreciated. I wouldn't recomend this joint to my worst enemy. Who swears and yells at their customers? Forest Room 5...for no other reason other than he might be strung out! Too bad because the location is great and I hear the food is ok, but I will advise anyone I talk to to stay FAR AWAY FROM FOREST ROOM 5!!!!! Pros: location Cons: owner/manager, service more

zombie? 1/25/2007

This place is so utterly relevant that i had to respond. just moved here from new york(city). If you are predicting a long running suburbanite existence for yourself...DON'T (please) go to forest room 5 . If you want to not grease a rifle chamber and slide down it towards an irrelvent hell, DO go to forest room 5. A place that understands that great food and wine can coexist with the widest selection of people (yes, corporates, 80 years olds, and you too) included. Nothing like it. more

easily best bar/restaurant in denver 1/24/2007

always an interesting clientele and changing, cool scene. no place in denver challenges its experience. service has been great when i have gone. tapas are great and good for dinner as well. i've been going to forest room 5 for over 4 years and its my friend's and i's favorite bar in denver. it's actually makes denver a better city for having it here. excellent job! Pros: all around wonderful Cons: clueless types that sometimes get lost and wander in from lodo down the hill more

Uneven but usually worth it. 1/8/2007

I like taking out-of-towners to Forest Room 5 because it's got a sort of alternative, non-corporate, artsy vibe to it while still being upscale -- there's no peeling paint or plastic glasses. I guess I mean that it makes Denver seem like a much more sophisticated city than it actually is. There are usually too few servers, that's true... oftentimes I'll just walk up and get my drinks directly from the bar. As long as you know what you want it's not a problem. Plus, it's awesome to watch the pasty-faced, polo shirt wearing suburbanite next to you get denied their Coors Light -- their mouth just hangs open. (they don't sell the usual beer there.) Pros: Visuals Cons: Always seems to be either packed or dead more

Will not go back again 12/20/2006

I don't consider myself a huge bar snob. I've been a bartender and I know the trials of the occupation, however when a patron requests a recommendation for a dry red wine (they were somehow out of wine menus), please do not pour her the most expensive (and absurdly fruity) pinot noir on the menu. The bartenders were not even busy at the time. Additionally, upon ordering tapas, it took the bartender 3 visits to completely take our order (apparently his friends were at the bar and anytime his name was called he ignored us to talk to them) and when the tapas arrived they were bland. The bruschetta was simply stale bread with broiled cherry tomatoes, NO basil or balsamic, raw onions and olive oil. We asked multiple times for more pita bread for our hummus and we were actually denied the third time (""sorry, that's all you get"" when we informed them we would PAY for more, we were once again told, ""sorry""). All in all it was a horrible experience. We finally ordered 2 bottles of a wine I recognized so that we wouldn't have to deal with the horrific customer service. Pros: Decent wine list- as long as you don't listen to bartenders' recommendations Cons: HORRIBLE service and BLAND food more

WORST SERVICE EVER! 12/11/2006

10 of us went out for dinner on a tuesday night and the enjoyment ends there. I'll just start to list the horrors: Sat at a long table not meant for large parties, waitress forgot my drink order three times and then brought me the wrong drink, added cheese to salad after I asked for no cheese (I'm allergic), brought people the wrong food, brought wrong drinks, never once in 2.5 hours refilled water, didn't put in half the table's order and didn't even notice until someone asked (how do you miss it when half the table has been eating for 40 minutes and the other half is waiting), no manager came to apologize or see how dinner was. Remember this was on a tuesday night, can't imagine a friday night. The food is good but I would never go there again and have told everyone to avoid it b/c the people are rude. Based on my experience and other reviews I can't see this place lasting long. DO NOT GO THERE! I agree with the reviewer that said go to Lola if location matters. Pros: food, location Cons: HORRIBLY RUDE SERVICE, not good for large parties more

The Sweetest waitress's and waiter's!!!! 11/23/2006

I love this restaurant!!!! Excellent!!! Very Romantic with great service!! Hip and cool folks work there!! Pros: Thumbs up more

cooolest restaurant/bar in denver 11/17/2006

forest room 5 has been here almost 6 years and busier than ever, it's freaks like the girl below try to ruin the most unique place in denver for the rest of us. stay away freak. Pros: indie films, alternative music, art, menu, ATMOSPHERE for a change in denver Cons: sometimes to crowded on weekends more

Horrible service and RUDE bartender/manager 11/7/2006

Not only was the service virtually non-existent throughout my 2-3 hours there with a small group of friends, but the bartender was completely rude. He charged me for drinks I did not order or receive and proceeded to turn this into a 15-20 minute argument. Instead of saying, ""I'm sorry. Let me check with my server to see if we can correct this mistake"" he questioned me saying I was trying to get free drinks off them. The staff need to drop the pretenious act and learn how to treat customers. more

Great Atmosphere Ruined by Dreadful Service 9/13/2006

Good food and good drink ruined by such terrible, sometimes non-existent service. I live three blocks away and really wanted a neighborhood hang out. I have been here about ten times over a year and have never received even decent service. They added a beautiful outdoor patio, but really should have invested a bit of money on the dilapidated chairs and tables indoors that are an accident waiting to happen. It is a shame, as the food can actually be quite good, especially the appetizers. Save your time, money and patience and walk a block over to Lola instead. more

What a surprise 10/24/2005

For a town with the worst restaurants and beer menu west ot the Atlantic, this place is great. Good beer at the bar (read no bud, bud light, currs, currs light, miller) and great food. The service is suspect, but who cares. more

Sucks eggs 9/26/2005

There is way too much emphasis on trendy here, and not enough of what really matters in a great bar. Somebody needs to knock these people in the head: good staff and manners count more than the atmosphere and trendiness of the joint. The few times I've been here, the staff has been inattentive or completely nonexistent. When you do get their attention (careful, now, you might get a sneer), don't stay too long or they'll insist that you pay your tab at their command because their shift is ending (happens every time). Moody music, depressing film clips, and rude staff. Aren't we supposed to be having fun, enjoying ourselves? Good points? Wine was good, but not for the price. There are friendlier places by far within walking/short driving distance, and I and my friends will steer clear of this place and let everyone we know that it sucks eggs. Pros: Nearby Cons: Very poor service, Overpriced, Rude staff more

Get a clue 9/20/2005

Me and five friends visted the 5, and found the atmosphere to be delightful, food excellent, and drink o.k. However, the pretentious wait staff and bartender are enough to ruin a good thing. Customer service is not in the vocabulary of those working Forest Room 5. Too many good bars in Denver to be ignored and treated rudely by those you're tipping Pros: Atmosphere, Parking, Crowd Cons: Pretentious servers, long wait, no customer service more

SERVICE SUCKS 9/2/2005

I will never go here again based on the terrible uninterested wait staff. more

Good scene...horrible staff 7/14/2005

I love this little gem in the highlands neighborhood...however the staff is big on attitude and the food and drinks are pricey. Great patio! Great hang out scene with an indie edge but the staff make you not want to return. Pros: location, atmosphere Cons: pricey drinks, slow service more

Skip it based on service alone 4/29/2005

Extremely slow, almost rude waitstaff and about average food. Skip it and find a place that wants your business. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Service, Lack of parking more

Vino & Tapas! 12/3/2004

Judging from the crowd, Thomas Nesler has a hit at this Highlands hotspot. This funky/trendy bar/restaurant features mostly tapas (although some entrees are offered) and an affordable & interesting wine list, all of which are available by the bottle or glass. The list of tapas is too long to review but everyone in our party liked all five we tried. Afterwards we ordered the paella for four. The dish was huge and packed with fresh seafood. Although not made with the traditional saffron, this was one of the best I've had in Denver. The music in this place can be a bit loud, making conversation a little challenging. Service was a little slow, but friendly. No reservations taken after 7:00pm. Pros: Creative Tapas, Good Paella, Wine List Cons: , Volume Level more

Neighborhood Gem 6/29/2004

Great neighborhood bar and restaurant with a great atmosphere, friendly staff and great patio. The new menu ROCKS! A great amenity to the area. Comfortable crowd, good wine list and libations. I make a point to meet friends there often. Pros: New menu, atmosphere, crowd more
