Best

Reviewers who gave this place a negative review are completely mistaken. I have been to Brazil several times, and know exactly what to expect when it comes to authentic churrasco...

Worst

Very weak compared to those Churrascarias in other major US cities. This was disappointing and not cheap.

The worst of the worst! 6/1/2010

My wife and I attended meal on memorial day 2010 about 6.30pm... Pros: NONE Cons: 1. BUGS on dining table!!! 2. Salad bar was weak. It had definatly been sitting there a long time..and it was only 6:30. 3. WAY OVERPRICED...we were charged $59 just for the salad bar. 4. Rare meat very mediocre, all other meats over cooked, highly fatty, and DRY (Chicken, sausage, lamb chops, leg of lamb, sirloin). 5. Cheep meat. Strong and gamey. We are big meat eaters, and we know quality. Lamb defiantly not American lamb...and the beef tastes like it came out of a swamp. 6. The wine: We are wine drinkers.I expected the wine to be decanted...but the stuff we bought seemed like it had been opened and sitting open for a couple of days. And when I said it wasn't good, they came back with more. It was obviously out of the same bottle. Moreover, after we found the bugs on the table they refused to refund our bill. My wife and I were ready to puke after we found this. We were told we could talk to the manager, and he refused to talk to us. I can just imagine how big the roaches are in the kitchen. This place is the worst of the worst... Cons: See Details... more

Awesome Place! 1/2/2010

Just came back from Saturday night dining at Brazilian Bull and all I can say is it was fabulous. Our server, Wes, was courteous and timely -- as were all the servers we had contact with. It's almost like the other reviews for this place were entered by people who have not been there! This restaurant is in a strip mall, but in a large roomy space. Beautiful mosaics cover the walls and the room is pretty and spacious. The salad bar selections were fresh and delicious with a lot to like if you're into seafood. I'm not, but I still enjoyed the fresh salads and pasta (although I must say the shrimp ceviche was great!). They also have a hot appetizer bar and be sure not to miss the potato lasagne. Sounds strange - tastes delicious! All the meats were hot and tasty with endless variety. I've been to the Brazilian steakhouse in Scottsdale and this one is every bit as good, with the salad bar much, much better than in Scottsdale. Be sure you don't miss the grilled pineapple -- absolutely fabulous! Our only complaint was the completely non-descript side dishes (beans and rice). Very bland and could have been skipped altogether. I can't imagine why so many other posters to this site complained about the service because ALL the servers we had contact with were courteous and catered to our every request. We LOVED the Brazilian Bull and will DEFINITELY be back for more! Oh, and by the way, we do NOT work for the Brazilian Bull and have dined in many, many restaurants both here in Arizona and around the world - and we STILL very much enjoyed our dining experience at Brazilian Bull. Pros: Excellent Service/Great Food Cons: Bland side dishes more

This place is truly authentic! 9/12/2009

Reviewers who gave this place a negative review are completely mistaken. I have been to Brazil several times, and know exactly what to expect when it comes to authentic churrasco. First off, the price is extremely reasonable. I have been to several other churrascarias in the US and almost always cost an arm and a leg. Next, the service was top notch. My water glass was never empty, and everyone was extremely courteous, tending to my every need. I have also never been to a restaurant where the service was so timely and professional. For those of you who have never been to a churrascaria, the system is fairly simple: You receive a marker where one side is red and the other is green. Red side up first, and you go to the their plentiful salad bar... Get some fresh seafood, gourmet salads...and by the way, all you can eat. When your done with that, flip the marker over to green, and prepare your stomach for whats to come. 16 different succulent, perfectly cooked meats come one at a time and served tableside. By far, the meats here were some of the best i have ever tasted. What was more surprising, was that the restaurant was jam packed and everything was spot on. If you want top notch Brazilian cuisine, excellent service, and all at a reasonable price, visit them in Chandler. Pros: Succulent Meat, Reasonable Price, Impeccable Service Cons: Must come with an empty stomach more

Bad Food, Bad Service & Horrible Manager 4/27/2009

It was the most horrific, sickening experience of my life. Run, don't walk away from there. Bad food, bad karma, bad everything. Moreover, they'll take your money, no matter what. AVOID this place like the plague! Join me in writing letters to the the appropriate authorities to shut the place down. I don't know what kind of meat they serve, but it's not the kind people normally eat. They need to get out of Ahwatukee, they are giving our neighborhood a bad name. Cons: Horrible food, awful service and the rudest manager more

not authentic Brazil! 2/8/2009

My husband and I drove over an hour to eat here, and this was the only place in town that serves ""Brazilian"" food. The waiter greeted us with an ""Oi tudo bem"" and then when we replied in Portuguese, he said, I'm sorry, I dont know Portuguese, I'm Mexican. No one in the whole place spoke Portuguese, which was a huge dissapointment. since they represented themselves as Brazilian. I could eat Mexican food anywhere in Phoenix. The staff were also very very rude, some of the rudest wait staff I have ever seen. I think they were embarrassed when they got exposed by true Brazilians in their restaurant, they didn't know how to act. more

OVERATED 1/7/2009

Never again will I waste my time and money on this dump. Over marinated, overcooked round steak. The salad bar was not fresh, I should have went to McDonalds. After all I read and heard I was expecting alot better. Cons: There is a 7/11 in the parking lot. You can stop for a hot dog instead. more

AVOID IT!!! 4/2/2008

This is a Horrible restaurant! Too expensive for what they serve... which is not good quality meats or salad bar. We've been to many different Brazillian steakhouses in the U.S. and this is NOT brazillian food. The meats were too dry, they were cooked in a HUGE oven instead over a fire like it should have been, and the staff was not friendly. We went for a birthday party and there was no one in the restaurant except us. Will never go back there again~ Pros: Close to I-10, that's IT! Cons: Bad FOOD!!!! more

Excellent service 3/11/2008

What a great time! Have heard so much about this place for so long, I'm glad I finally tried it despite the bad reviews on this site. Service was outstanding, we never had empty plates or drinks and the place was packed. The salad bar was a little bland, but the meats were fantastic. Definately recommend to anyone that wants to try something different and is sick of the boring chain dining spots here in Phoenix. Make sure you fast before going, its a ton of food! Pros: Great service, great food Cons: not enough room in my belly! more

WORST Restaurant Experience of my ENTIRE LIFE! 3/1/2008

First and foremost, do not believe any of the five-star ratings on this web-page. They were either written by the owners themselves or people who have no class & no idea what good food is. Typical for people who have never left the state of Arizona. We came to this restaurant for my brother's birthday expecting a good meal. When we walked in, the place was cold and empty. The food was God-awful. The food at the buffet bar was nothing special, and the meat was not tasty at all- overcooked, salty, dry, etc. We complained to the owners who are NOT BRAZILIAN. They were shady, couldn't speak English very well, probably from some small country in East Europe, and told us that we wouldn't know good food if it struck us in the face. They refused to provide a discount for our awful experience. I am so enraged that we were treated this way. These people deserve to go out of business for their disgusting food and poor business practices! PLEASE don't believe the good reviews, and please don't go here! Pros: Nothing at all Cons: Everything imaginable more

Completely over Priced 2/19/2008

The concept definitely plays to your ears but it was way over priced. I felt as if I could have gone through a drive-thru or just a small restaurant and gotten the same food for much cheaper. The choice of meats and the way they bring it out are cool but campared to other restaurants with similar concepts I'd have to ask for my money back on this one. It's just not worth it. The Salad bar was AWFUL! The best part was the shrimp cocktail, which I could have done at home. i hope this is useful to others. I do not recommend this restaurant. Pros: parking, concept Cons: price, salad bar, food more

Well below average 2/9/2008

Very weak compared to those Churrascarias in other major US cities. This was disappointing and not cheap. more

fago e caca 12/31/2007

do not eat at this poor over priced vesion of a brazilian steak house. the meat is very salty and is eather of the lowest of quality or just prepaired with such incompatance that it could be served at a waffel house. I never thought you could describe fillet mignon could be described acuratly as dry and gamey but at fogo brasa you can. I didnt even try the salad/sea food bar but my wife did and it was equally bad. kae moss like crab legs and lots of mayo. I have eaten at many of this style resturantes and this was by far the worst. trust me dont try it. the 5 star reviews on this page must have been written by fogo brasa owners or workers who are members. Pros: fair service Cons: bad food more

An Experience to Remember!!! Loads of Fun and just DIFFERENT!!! 12/18/2007

My boss decided to take us there for a holiday party. I heard alot of good things but really didnt know what to expect. If you would have told me, I would have never been able to figure it out. In one word.. ""Memorable"". My colleagues and I venture out frequently for lunch but never dinner, this was a treat. First they explained the system. ""Go to the salad bar as much as you want"", (when we got there, he failed to say that there was 40 dishes in all to choose from, Crab legs, shrimp, mussels, cheeses, international dishes.. but we were told to keep room for the main attraction, BEEF!!. Now we knew why. Each of us took a little everything and it seemed that everyone enjoyed what they had taken. The table was filled with a bunch of overweight men talking in excitement of all the different things they have tried. Meanwhile, we see ""Meat runners"" running by with skewers of meat in hand from one table to the next shaving off one piece at a time...Joey, we call him the ""Big Guy""; kept yelling ""I want some of that""...Eventually we were done done gorging on the salad and we were ready for meat. A dowel was given to us painted in red, yellow and green. Red.. ""Leave me alone"", Green, ""I want Meat, feed me, feed me"" and Yellow,""I'm about to bust, please give me the dessert"". On your mark, get ready, flipped to green..Goooo!! Boy, did we have alot to talk about. Chicken, Sausage, Pork Loin, Filet, Sirloin, top sirloin, ham, LAMB!!, kebobs, tri tip and I'm missing a few .. I was stuffed...Joey...that man is impressive...Everything had flavor, some had been marinated.. What I liked is that the waiters had asked us how we like our meat. You can get it rare, medium or well. Just ask!!! Staff is very attentive and funny. Going ""Yellow""..I was done, the waiter warned me, but ""NO more for me!""...Wait...he rolled over a 5 foot dessert cart... Are you kidding me...Let's just say.. theres always room for dessert. I should have been wheeled out that night. You have to go, but go hungry! Pros: A joy of fun! Food was great. Salad had a great variety and the meats..oohhh the meats! Cons: I have to go on a diet! Atkins anyone??? more

Save your money!!! Road pizza is much tastier than this place!!!! 8/20/2007

For those who gave this place a high rating, I don't think they have ever been to a really nice salad bar or steak house aside from their local Denny's or their cooking is worse than Fogo. The salad bar was horrible. Nothing tasted fresh. I'ts a good thing that the salad bar was disgusting because I was going to eat some meat instead!!!! But little did I know, the meats were just as bad. Very salty, red meats were fatty and white meats were very very dry the chicken legs was gross!!! The sausage tasted like it was made from beef, chicken and pork by products instead of 100% meat, you know lips and a$$ cheeks. The service was okay since ther was only 4 tables occupied. This was on a Friday night. This did kind of look suspicious. Now I know. Take it from a true meat enthusiast, this place is not fit for human consumption or dogs as a matter of fact. Save your money Pros: nothing!! Cons: everything!! more

Worst Dining Experience Ever!! 4/21/2007

I have been to other rodizios in the past and I'm sorry but Fogo e Brasa can't compare. They are HORRIBLE. The food is disgusting! The price's would make sense if the food was actually edible. Also, the staff couldn't speak english and it's not because they were Brazilian, but spanish. I mean I was kind of expecting authentic. I've lived in Brazil and they didn't even have authentic food that other Brasa's have. Personally, it was the worst dining experience I've ever had and $30 down the drain after tasting that nasty salad bar. If you have class you won't be stopping at Fogo e Brasa anytime soon. Cons: FOOD, service, environment more

Cool concept but average food 4/12/2007

What a fun idea for sure. Very interactive and fun, BUT, BUT, BUT....as other reviews have stated, the meat is VERY dry. Fill up at the excellent salad bar because the meat will disappoint. In fact, there is almost no difference in taste from pork to beef. Very sad. Also, the shrimp on the salad bar was old (you could tell by the smell). Pros: fun experience, ambience Cons: dry meat, too salty more

Awful experience, lousy service, bad food, worse attitudes 3/2/2007

Having been to Brazilian churrascarias in Orlando, Dallas, and Atlanta, I bragged to my brother about what a great experience they are. I convinced him and his wife to join us and try Fogo e Brasa. What a mistake. The meat was tough and dry. We had to ask many times just to get minimal service. We got to the point of waving our arms wildly and almost yelling ""Excuse me Sir?"" to try to get the servers' attention only to be ignored. After an hour of this, I finally asked to speak to a manager. The person who came over refused to do anything to adjust our check so we could just leave since we weren't going to get fed. Then he called another person over (again, claiming to be the manager). He too refused to discount our check for the lack of food. Finally, I said I would not pay full price if I couldn't get fed and they called the police. Unfortunately, the police said the law here states if they serve you anything at all, they are allowed to charge you full price and don't have to serve you any more. Finally, the real manager came out and spoke to the police officer. He admitted his help was unresponsive because they did not understand English and nobody had understood our complaints. He also said the owner doesn't give discounts no matter how bad the food or service. We should have known, going into a restaurant like this that was almost empty on a Friday night, there must have been a reason there were so few customers. This was $178.00 disaster that left a very bad taste in my mouth for both the restaurant and the town that makes such laws to protect them from having to serve what you pay for. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR DIGNITY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Pros: Plenty of parking and readily available seating, even on a Friday night Cons: Food, Service, Value, Ethics more

Very DIsappointing 2/7/2007

I have been to other Brazillian resaturants throughout the country(loved them) and decided to take my wife to Fogo for her Birhtday based on the positive reviews. BIG MISTAKE !!!! Pros: Its name. Cons: Everything else. more

Awesome Food, Lots of Fun, Come Hungry!! 12/12/2006

This place is awesome. I have heard of this place for a long time and always wanted to go but never had a chance until we went there for a company holiday party. What have I been waiting for. The salad bar (and I hate to call it that with all the items on it) was awesome. They had crab legs, shrimp, calamari, cheeses, cold dishes, hot dishes and I can go on and on. Then came the meats which are served tableside. We had meat coming to us from all directions. Each tastier than the next. What's nice is that they will cater the cut to your liking, rare, med rare or well. My one problem is that I stuffed myself at the salad bar and didn't get to try all the meats. But of course there was always room for dessert. I had the strawberry cheesecake which was the last thing I needed as they rolled me out. I will be back!!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Staff Cons: I ate too much! more

Excellent food and service! 7/27/2006

We go to Frogo e Brasa at least monthly, and we've never had a bad experience. The food is always superb, and the service is wonderful. You have to have a big appetite to enjoy all the goodies in store for you. I'm not a salad person, but I could do a swan dive into their salad bar. Lots of seafood and cold dishes, and even a few hot dishes. But, it's really all about the meat. The meat is always beautifully cooked, flavorful, and plentiful. We often have to turn the dowel over to red, just so we can catch up with the servers! They will continue to bring you meat until you explode! In all the times we've been there, we've never been disappointed with the quality of the food or the service. If there's a particular meat you like, you can ask and they will bring it to you more often. Wonderful! Pros: Excellent meat, fantastic salad bar, wonderful service Cons: Expensive, but worth it. The atmosphere could be better. more
