Heard many a good thing about The Fireside. Overall the service was really nice, nice feel with the fireplace in the dinning area and the bar looked like it would be fun. My wife,...

not bad for a bar scene 10/12/2005

pretty good food and awesome brews. lost reservation but there was no one in the restaurant so we were seated promptly, glass was dirty but got a clean new one immediately more

A great place to eat and/or drink 8/3/2005

This place is a regular of mine for many reasons. The make the best Tanqueray Martini I've ever had, and when I ask for extra olives (always), I'm sometimes brought a whole bowl! There are 3 sections to this restaurant-an indoor dining area with working fireplace, a bar wich allows cigar smoking and has a jukebox, and the famous oudoor patio, open all year (heated in the winter). Thier food isn't bad, it's served until 3a.m. and has some staples like the lemon pepper chicken and pork chops (a couple personal favorites), and they have pizza, burgers and reasonably priced appetizers if you're not that hungry. The one thing I don't like or recommend is their pasta, it's usually dry and overcooked, but otherwise, with a bar that's open until 4a.m., it's a great hangout to eat drink and be merry! more

Great patio environment 6/29/2005

This is one of my neighborhood favorites. Fireside is worth visiting at least for a cocktail. If you are going to eat at the Fireside definitely request to be seated in their patio area, which is used all year round through coverings and heaters. It feels like you are eating on a giant deck in summer even if it's January! The food is sometimes hit or miss. They offer everything from Pizza to full dinners. They have amazing chicken fingers and you can get them with a side salad for like $6. They also have a variety of creative libations and hard cider on tap. They have crazy late hours. They serve food until 3 am and the bar closes at 4 am. This is a great place to invite friends for a late night fix or to have a romantic dinner on the "Fireside section" of the building. PROS: Hours and free parking CONS: see above more

Beer garden 365? How did they do that?? 3/12/2005

I first started going here before I was 21, and have loved it ever since. It's the one place I know where they serve GREAT food until 3am, and have great beer to match. If you don't like it, you are nuts! Pros: Plenty of parking, Wide beer selection, Super cool staff! Cons: Only one dart board more

Pretty good... 8/15/2004

They have a good menu selection but it's a little hit or miss with the food. Some things are really good but watch out for the misses. I really like the chicken fingers, the bronzed shrimp appetizer (although small for sharing with many ppl), the salads are good, the brie IS good. I'd say it's overpriced but the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. I used to live around there before they remodeled and have many good memories of being there with my bf so there's a soft spot for me at this place. more

You're here for the beer & the patio 12/16/2003

This place definitely has that neighborhood restaurant feel to it. The bar is nice and roomy. The dining area is seperated from it so you don't have to deal with the bar crowd while you're eating. Then of course, there's the patio. It's like eating in a gigantic tent. It's huge and has homey decorative touches. It's a cool little place to have lunch. Pros: good bar, awesome patio, relaxed atmosphere Cons: slow service, just a tad overpriced more

Nothing to knock your socks off, but nothing to gross you out over. Maybe just a tad overpriced in that regard. Service...well, be it takeout or dining in, they are a little slow. All that said, this is still a cool place to have a few beers, unwind and grab a bite to eat. All in the patio, of course. Pros: good bar, awesome patio, relaxed atmosphere Cons: slow service, just a tad overpriced more

Out and About 1/8/2003

The restaurant is located on a quiet tree lined street. The Metra is directly across from the restaurant but you wouldn't know it. They have free parking and there is usually parking on the street if the lot is full. They have a dining room and an all-weather outdoor garden. I recommend the garden because as you enter you are greeted with the warm glow of white Christmas lights. There are plenty of heaters to keep it cozy in the colder months. The menu has a wide variety of foods to choose from. The Baked brie oozes out of it's crispy casing when you cut into it and the Pesto pizza is made with a thin crispy crust. The Blackened catfish is tasty and the Blackened chicken and pasta is delicious and a nice portion. I always have leftovers. They offer a good wine and beer selection. Pros: affordable, attentive staff, cozy Cons: chairs wrought iron, plastic tablecloth more

Pretty Good 10/11/2002

This joint is really classy looking. The dinners are ok. Ample, but ok. However, the brunch is a revelation. Excellent apple cinnamon pancakes, great waffles, nummy sausage. Really great. more

10 stars 7/24/2002

My fiance and I love Fireside so much, we got engaged there! The patio is awesome, the food is excellent and the only reason we scored it a 9 on service is that sometimes the "delivery" folks are a little hasty on the phone and tend to mess things up occasionally. But overall, you can enjoy fine-dining, have a drink at the bar, or relax on the year-round patio. Love it! Pros: Pesto Sauce Pizza, Heated Patio in winte, Jukebox Cons: Delivery time/takers more

...Gets the Nod! 5/27/2002

If you are looking for a casual, informal place to relax and dine, this is a great venue. Back garden area is very cosy. Service can be a bit slow when very busy but good value makes up for it. The owner and his staff is what makes this place. If you become a regular they make you feel like family. I have eaten in some of Chicago's best restaurants and I travel around the world yet, when I want to let my hair down and relax...this is the place!!! Pros: Good Value, Great Beer Range, Ambience Cons: Can be slow more
