i came in for an oil change, I was told there were a few people ahead of me and i could wait or come back in 2 hours. I opted to come back and within 15 minutes of my arrival my car was being serviced. Steve also pointed out a couple of things that I needed - and recommended i go to the dealer for the work under warranty. more

This was my first experience with Family Auto Service, and it will definitely not be my last. I took the car in for an oil change and to investigate a noise. Steve called me later in the day to explain that I had a serious issue with the engine bolts in my 2003 Toyota. He took the time to explain in detail the situation and my options. His team spent 2 days trying to resolve the issue, but sadly was unable to fix it. The problem was due to the situation with the car, not anything to do with the quality of the work put forth. He again took the time to explain the situation and offered me a couple of options. As he was unable to fix the car, Steve went the extra mile by reducing the cost of the work that was done. This was something totally unexpected, and greatly appreciated. Steve and his mechanics are very open and willing to share information about the work they perform. My only regret is that I didn't find this repair shop years ago. I look forward to taking advantage of his service in the future. more

Proprietor is courteous and concerned with achieving cfustomer satisfaction; work is competently perfomed; shop seems to experience frequent delays in completing work timely. RESPONSE FROM Family Auto Service: I appreciate your honest comment.Often it is hard to have a "while you wait" appointment in an auto shop due to the nature of auto repair.Sometimes it is difficult to determine how long the car before you will occupy the lift as every repair job is different.For instance a nys inspection should take 30 minutes,but if a bulb is out or anything else,that adds to the original amount of time we anticipated.In the future we would be happy to call you 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to let you know if there are any delays or if we can get you in even earlier. more

This was the second time I've brought my car in to be serviced. I appreciated getting a ride home when I had to leave the car overnight, and that I was offered a ride back the next day. Steve explained what had to be repaired and why, and offered to save all the parts to be removed. I would appreciate getting a written copy of the estimate when it's given to me, so that I can compare it with the ultimate service repair document. The first time my car was worked on, the A/C was repaired - and some other things that needed to be done were pointed out and I had them done, as well. Two days after the repair, I was stopped in traffice on the Whitestone Bridge and my car began to overheat. I made it off the bridg and stopped at a local garage. The owner stopped what he was doing to check out my car and said that the fan was unplugged. He plugged it in and I described what had been done on the car. He said that the fan shouldn't have been part of the repair that was done. Since I didn't know that the person who repaired my car had unplugged the fan, I didn't have a basis to complain, but I'd never had a problem with the fan in the 5-1/2 yrs before, and I haven't in the 3 months since. I have considered this to be an oversight, which (obviously) hasn't kept me from returning for service. And I'll return again. more

The guys at family auto are very friendly an they cater to my specific needs.ThEy were able to fix my car and found a price for me that was reasonable seeing as that i am a full time student and a part time worker. My car needs a little more work and i will definatly be going back to show my appreciation. Thanks guys ~ wes more

I am a longtime customer of Family Auto Service (maybe 18 or 19 years now!) and have received nothing but great service from Steve R. and his employees over the years. No matter how busy they are, they have always been courteous, helpful, fair, and ready and willing to come to my aid in times of major and minor auto troubles. I have always brought my new cars to FAS for regular maintenance, rather than having to deal with the dealerships, and I would recommend FAS without reservation. more

I've been using Family Auto Service for the past 8 years, ever since moving to New York. I'm one of those people who does not buy new cars. Instead, I buy cars that are a couple of years old, then I run them into the ground and throw them away. Family Auto Service has helped me maintain my cars and keep them safely on the road cost effectively. They have even helped me sell a couple of them when it's time to trade them in and make them go away. Family Auto Service is just all-around very customer driven and customer oriented. very thorough examination of my car revealed problems my former mechanic left out.Steve found that my power steering leak was covered by a recall.He even called the dealer and set up an appointment.This saved me almost $400.00 dollars.I was also shown what was wrong with my car as he brought me into the shop and showed me the old versus new parts.Very honest.Will return again.Thank you Steve and Paul more
