Evolution The Green Room Salon

As a frequent visitor /reviewer of black salons, this was one of the nicest I have visited. The salon was clean, beautifully maintained, and the staff was pleasant. Many know that this is a sad rarity in black hair care. It was indeed a 5 star salon with 5 star treatment (although, the staff should pay more individualized attention to its customers instead of multitasking on 3 or more heads at once). Like other reviewers, I loved the instant, no-wait service and the offers of tea, water, and snacks. That being said, as wonderful as the accomodations were, the most important thing in choosing a salon is how well they actually do your hair. And sadly, I was sorely disappointed with the substantive service at the Green Room. To make a long story short, I went in for a texturizer and came out with a half-relaxed mullet. The front was texturized beautifully, while the back was bone straight in numerous spots. After spending a significant sum of money on my texturizer and style, I had to go to Tendrils Salon less than 4 days later, and spent another $200 on a corrective cut (almost all of the straight hair at the back had to be cut off so that the ridiculous straightened mullet in the back was made even with the curly fro in front). The worst part was that the staff at the Green Room, while polite, did not take my concerns seriously, and tried to convince me against all evidence, that the hair looked ""fine;"" the salon took no responsibility for the awful job that they clearly did. \r \r In the service industry, both quality of work and customer service are key. While they appear to have somewhat mastered customer service at Green Room, their quality could use some work. Since I'd rather not walk around with a ridiculous hair cut, I'll be returning to Tendrils, or maybe hopping over to Mishon Mishon for my next cut...while they may be only 2, 3 or 4 star salons, they don't mess around with customer satisfaction and simply beautiful cuts and styles. \r Pros: Beautiful surroundings, nice people, refreshments. OKAY so I'm very picky about my hair! In most cases I've found that my first visit is usually my last but not anymore! EVOLUTION is amazing and I'm so glad that I decided to give them a try. I wanted to try them out after noticing a review on City Search but since I only read one good review I wanted to wait for more people to write in. After 13 really good reviews I tried it out on Tuesday. Evolution gives you everything you've been looking for in a salon; warm and friendly staff, a soothing/relaxing atmosphere, knowledgeable stylists who know how to communicate with you, discuss your concerns and answer your questions. Not to mention they have a really great line of exclusive products that are Organic (70% Aloe) The Owner Natasha was the first one to greet me with a smile and asked me if I wanted a beverage. She asked one of her lovely Assistants (Vanessa) to take my coat and then my Stylist Naidra greeted me and asked me to fill out my hair evaluation card. Naidra looked at my hair and said that I had a very nice healthy head of hair which is surprising because you know most people will tell you negative things straight out the gate. She told me about the products, asked me about my goals for my hair and told me what I could expect from using the hair care line they use now. So I was pretty impressed to say the least. Charleen set my hair and told me that I was going to see an immediate change in my hair now that I've used their new organic line (I had a wash and set plus I decided to try the Herbal Treatment) She was so on point accurate! The texture of my hair was soft and full of body not to mention you could not even tell that I would soon need a perm either. From the moment my hair was getting washed to the moment I saw the beautiful final result; I knew I found a new home for my hair. I made the switch to Evolution after being completely fed up with a former stylist and salon where I would wait for hours for service and, at times, hours just for the stylist to arrive. With Evolution, I have found the complete opposite - prompt, professional and top-rate service. Upon arrival I am always greeted warmly, treated as a guest and respected patron. Evolution employs knowledgable, professional stylists and only uses the best hair care products. Please note - with premium care comes premium pricing. Natasha Paul (Owner & Stylist) of Evolution has been caring for my hair well over 6 years. Her salon is a refreshing change from the passe. The staff is phenomenal and welcome you with open arms every visit. Every care is given to you from the moment you step into the salon - tea service, hors d 'oeuvres, consultations on service and fabulous end products. Specialty hair and nail treatments ensure that you have gone thru an ""Evolution"" by the time you depart. I've been to a few salons in the area since moving to Brooklyn from Manhattan and can say I've finally found the spot! Evolution has a warm, welcoming feel, but even better, the stylists are all friendly, professional, and know how to texturize hair. I recently went to evolution on a recommendation i recieved from a friend. I marveled at the precise haircut and finish she recieved from her stylist naydra. When i walked into the salon i was comforted by the warm and friendly greeting. The atmosphere is unlike any other salon and the staff is very knowledgeable. From the moment i sat down for my consultation with naydra i felt like i found new stylist. Her years of experience were comforting. She explained every step of the process i was about to recieve and took total control of my hair with ease. I am very satisfied with my hair and highly reccomend evolution. I was walking around last week when I stumbled onto this place. My hair was going crazy so I decided to checkout Evolution to get get a haircut. The people in there were soooo nice! I immediately felt comfortable with my decision and when they were done I felt like a new man! I absolutely love my new haircut and this place has definitely made a fan for life! more

I was tired of the long wait at the salons I had frequented and was also tired of feeling like my stylists did not really care about the health of my hair, so I had been jumping from salon to salon for several months trying to find a good fit. A friend mentioned that a new salon opened on Atlantic so I decided to try it out when I got back from vacation in January. Imagine my surprise when I walked in the salon and Vanessa, one of the assistants offered to take my coat and offered me a beverage. I was immediately impressed. I was then asked to complete a hair evaluation card - which I thought was genius. It just makes sense to me that your stylist would want to know about the condition of your hair and the type of products you've used in the past. After I completed the card, my stylist - Natasha talked with me a bit about my hair care needs. I hadn't even gotten my hair done and I was already sold. Natasha then did my relaxer - which I found refreshing as opposed to other salons I've visited where a different assistant does your relaxer each visit - so there is no continuity of hair care. Natasha did a great job styling my hair. She really listens to your needs and obviously cares a great deal about helping you keep your hair healthy. If you are looking for a salon in Brooklyn, I would recommend Evolution with no reservations. And, as a bonus the nail technician at the salon provides great, long-lasting manicures and pedicures. Recently had a wash and cut at Evolution. I normally have diffucult at new spots b/c of the way my hair falls. The haridreser was very attentive and listened to how I wanted things done. She nailed the haircut. I was pleasantly surprised at well things came out considering it was first time visting the,. I will be back the next time I need a cut. I was referred by a friend who was so excited about visiting Evolution. I had to go down to see what the excitement was about and I was not disappointed. The ambiance was so relaxing, I felt like I was at a Spa. My stylist, Natasha, was so knowledgable and informative and gave me plenty of ideas on how to keep my hair looking stunning. The very first time I went to Evolution I felt pampered. My sytlist Natasha made me feel very comfortable. She was very knowledgable about her products and what will and will not work for my hair, I love how personal it was. All the attention and focus was on me and my hair. The ambiance is very relaxing and peaceful. Every empolyee is friendly. You have to try this salon. I promise you will love it more

a friend of mine recommended me to evolution and i thought it would just be like any other hair salon in brooklyn...WELL I WAS WRONG!!! As soon as you come in you are immediately greeted by an assistant who takes your coat, offers you a beverage and gives you a form to get your hair ""history"". Your stylist takes a look at your hair and you both discuss what is needed. From the assistant to the stylist - they keep you informed in what is going on with your hair, everyone makes you feel comfortable in the salon, the prices are not cheap but not expensive either and you come out with a great and healthy styled hair!!! I usually don't take the time to register and write reviews, but I just got back from The Green Room and couldn't wait to share my experience! The service was wonderful and I love my hair!! I appreciated everything about this salon from the friendly service, skillful stylists, to the beautiful decor. \r \r I used to get a Silkener at Miss Jessies salon, but after they closed this year was bouncing between stylists and couldn't find a salon to call home. I was extremely impressed with the way my stylist Natasha applied my texturizer and worked through my extra-thick hair to give me a great cut. I appreciate their affordable prices and I'll definitely be be returning! Time is valuable, and Evolution is very consious of that, When you arrive for your appointment you are seen right away. ""THERE'S NO WAITING"". Upon arrival your greeted with warm inviting smiles from the staff and offered a beverage. The assistants who wash your hair give the most amazing wash. You are then styled by patient hairstylist who go out there way to give you exactly what you want. Evolution is the most warm, cozy, clean, tranquil salon enviroment I have experience in a long time, and there also a one stop shop, they offer most services.
