The best Authentic Mexican food! 3/9/2010

While in Manhattan Beach California the past couple days, I wanted to experience what the Western United States considered Authentic Mexican Food. I stumbled across a Mexican restaurant called Panchos my first night in town, but slightly disappointed in the food. It’s a good atmosphere: bar, lounge, and live bands performing, but the food was what you call Americanized. When asking the staff at the hotel I was staying, Sea View Inn, they suggested I try El Tarasco. It’s one of those holes in the wall restaurants, but the best food you’ll ever get! With only a few counter bar stools for seating and cozy, but the top of the line when craving real Mexican food! I felt so overwhelmed with their food, I wanted to write this review while in town and tell everyone how great my experience was. My last day in Manhattan Beach...what a great little find in a community. Pros: Perfect Spot more

My favorite hole in the wall Mexican Food In all of L.A. 9/10/2009

I've been coming to this place for almost 10 years now, a friend of mine showed it to me, and I've been in love ever since. Their chips and salsa are amazing!!! The food is great too. I usually get a Jr. Super Deluxe burrito with chicken, no letuce, no beans. Let me tell you it's delicious. Don't let the Jr. fool you, this thing is huge. I think I've only been able to finish it a couple of times. The burrito comes wet with Red Sauce, Sour Cream, Guacamole, and melted cheese on top. Also their tacos are great, so are carnitas plate and carne asada. Ohh yeah the I also like the enchiladas. Pros: great mexican food Cons: a little ways off from L.A. and the Valley more

Funny how its supppose to be authentic Mexican food 1/2/2009

As I was browsing their web site i found something i didn't like-- They misspelled Michoacan which is where the Tarascan people come from also the hat in their logo has nothing to do with the indigenous people from this beautiful state of Mexico ..... so i decided to write to them about it and this is what I wrote:\r \r I would greatly appreciated if you guys would spell Michaoacan right on your history ....Instead of Michuacan... Funny how its supppose to be authentic Mexican food from the state of Michoacan--you guys use their culture name with a hat that has nothing to do wih the Tarascan culture-- yet you can't even spell the state of Michoacan right. Thank you \r \r \r SOOO im wish i could see a change soon \r \r oh food isn't so bad for an Americanized Mexican food place --yet its not Authentic Pros: Okay Americanized Mexican food Cons: Not Authentic more

OMG! If it wasn't so far, I'd turn into a burrito... 11/12/2007

I would drive by this place every Wednesday for about 2 months, the lines were out the door and I would never go in but I was very curious. So one day, my boyfriend and I were hangin out around the beach cites and he tells me he wants to take me to his FAVORITE Mexican hole n the wall. I say I'm down. We get to the same place that I wanted to try for 2 months. SO I had the super delux burrito and that was the best ground beef burrito that I had in my LIFE. So we would make this place our Sunday tradiition over the summer. Every Sunday, we'd drive down and GRUB. He loves the chicken taquitos and the enchiladas. I love the carne asada burrito and the salsa. So if you are in the area, PLEASE do yourself a favor and stop...You will thank me later. Pros: Hot food everytime (cooked to order), Cheap, they take credit cards & service neat & quick! Cons: It's beach cities so parking around there can be a chore, take your food home if you don't like people almost sharing your seat or getting sand in your food. more

GOOD MEXICAN FOOD!! 10/19/2007

I have been going to El Tarasco Manhattan Beach on a regular basis for couple of years now. I just love this place. Their famous super delux burrito is of couse huge and yummy. Try it with carne asada or chunky beef instead of groud beef for $1 extra, you will not be disappointed. My other favorites would be carne asada plate, carnita plate and chicken enchillada. \r \r It is a hole in the wall place, but hey, it's Mexcian food. The hole in the wall places are normally the best. I usually go there after work around 6pm on weekdays, so I never had any problem with seating. There is a metered parking lot across the street, I always find parking spots available there.\r \r Oh, btw, I tried couple other El Tarasco restaurants, don't even bother!! The Manhattan location is the only good one. Pros: food and price Cons: very small more

This place is the spot 8/9/2007

This place is great, the guys that work here are totally Hilarious! Every time i go here i just cant stop laughing. Show up late at night and the drunk fun loving Manhattan beach club crowd has this place packed. Hang around for a while and you are sure to leave with a ridiculous story.. that and you will probably get about 20 high fives from random people just walking in excited to get something to eat. Pros: The staff, Gucamole more

BEST MEXICAN IN THE SOUTH BAY! 6/26/2007

Truly the best mexican food in the South Bay - excellent burritos and carnitas!! I have been going here for over 20 years and this place cannot be beat for fast service and consistent quality. It is generally packed but they take ""To Go"" orders which you can take upstairs and eat on the roof and they allow you to bring your own beer or wine. Their ONLY shortcoming - chile rellenos. They make them omelette style which I don't care for but other than that they are still the BEST, just skip the rellenos. Their guacamole also deserves a special notation - always fresh and lots of it. I highly recommend El Tarasco's on Rosecrans as by the far the best value for Mexican Food in the South Bay - HANDS DOWN!! Pros: Excellent Value, Enormous Portions, Fresh and Fast!! Cons: Can get really busy, skip the chile rellenos, not a large seating area more

Best Burritos at the Beach 5/4/2007

If you're a fan of the takeout burrito and you're anywhere near the south bay, get over to Tarasco's immediately if not sooner. Great spot. Pros: Unbelieveably Good Cons: Not for anybody on a diet more

Yay South Bay! 11/7/2006

I didn't even know these existed until I moved south of the 10, and now I see them everywhere. Cheap, yummy, filling and convenient. I like the burritos and they always seem to have a happy hour special involving beer and something fried and wonderful. If you are seeking fast food but don't want to sacrifice quality, this is the place! Pros: Great food, lots of locations, value more

10 Seats & 1000 Stories 11/12/2005

Seating may be limited and the wait on the weekend is rotten, but the delay is well worth it!!! Go for the Chicken Enchiladas, Carnitas Burrito or Chicken Super Burrito with everything! It has been a long time favorite of mine and the family's for well over 20 years. Somethings change over time, and thank goodness this place has not - it just would not be the same! Pros: Great food, Excellent value Cons: Limited seating, Long wait on weekends, Limited parking more

Great food for after-hours 7/25/2005

Once the clubs shut down, we always head over to this place. The food is affordable and real good. Watch out though - the place gets crowded quickly and it's pretty small inside. But, if you have to wait 10 or 15 minutes - it's worth it. Excellent Mexican food. Pros: Great food, After hours eating, affordable Cons: small, limited seating, crowded more

FABULOUS! 9/17/2004

Exellent value, great food, superb FAST service. My favorite is the legendary Manhattan Beach location on Rosecrans. DON'T BE FOOLED by ""El Tarasco Burrito"" on Inglewood Ave & Marine. According to the owners of the MB location, the Inglewood Ave location is NOT an authentic El Tarasco restaurant. Apparently they have tried to copy the ""real thing"" and some people do think they are an authentic El Tarasco restaurant. Pros: large servings, inexpensive, fast service more

Great Everything 6/29/2004

I love this El Terasco. The other ones leave a lot to your imagination. This one is just one block from the beach. It is literally a hole in the wall place with probably 10 bar stools at the counter and some bar chairs for eating at the windowsill. That's the appeal to come in. But the appeal to return are the specials. It's awesome! Comes with a drink at about 30 pct off. Try the JR Super Deluxe your first time here. Trust me. I'm a hearty eater and I've never been able to finish the big daddy, Super Deluxe. EVER. The rest of the menu is also great. Pros: GREAT FOOD, GOOD PRICE, ClOSE TO BEACH more

I MISS THE DELUXE!! 6/10/2004

BEING ORIGINALLY FROM THE L.A. AREA I REALLY MISS THE FOOD AT EL TARASCOS. IT WAS AND STILL IS AGREAT FRIDAY/SATURDAY LATE NITE PLACE TO EAT AFTER THE PARTYING IS OVER. A LITTLE CROWDED AT TIMES BUT ONCE YOU GOT YOUR FOOD YOU JUST HIGH TAIL IT UP THE STAIRS TO THE ROOF AND INDULGE. EVERYTIME I GO BACK TO L.A. EL TARASCOS IS ONE OF MANY GREAT FOOD PLACES I GO TO. YOU JUST CANT FIND ANY THING THAT COMES CLOSE, EVEN IN SAN ANTONIO, TX. Pros: PRICE, FOOD, GEOGRAPHICS Cons: , PARKING more

Great, cheap Mexican Food 5/2/2004

The super deluxe burrito is one of a kind, and the carne asada tacos are to die for. As they're open late, it's a great place to sober up after a night out in Manahttan Beach. Pros: inexpensive, authentic Cons: , bad parking more

Jr. Super Deluxe Burrito - HUGE and $3!! 8/7/2002

Local dive, but the BEST food!! Rosecrans is one of the originals, and the others keep popping up. Some have beer and wine licenses, this one ""allows"" (not discouraged) beer to be brought in. Eating at the counter there is an experience. Serving food from the moment it opens, until it closes late. Service is an issue at the Marine and Inglewood location, as well as on Sepulveda and 2nd St. in MB. Pros: Great food and Cheap!! Cons: No beer or wine sold there (usually do take out anyway) more

Great price and service 7/10/2002

For about half price of Acapulcos or El Torito you get the same food quality and taste (Or better). But not all the Tarascos are good, don't even think about going to the one at ROSECRANS AVE AND INGLEWOOD AVE, they don't have a clue of what service is; after waiting for about 20 min. for someone to take our order at the table we decided to leave and go to the one at Manhattan Beach and this place is the best. more

Good Mexican Food! 5/19/2002

The food is really good. Also, you can take your food and a couple beers with you and enjoy your meal and the ocean view on the roof. Pros: food, location more
