A must-do experience 2/20/2012

Eats is becoming somewhat of a legend. Excellent food; low prices; kitschy atmosphere. What more can you ask for? What I don't get is how they can make super-simple things like a sweet potato so darn good. I mean just a plain baked sweet potato, but it's somehow just excellent. Maybe their secret is that they don't mess it up with fancy gunk or cheap ingredients, but just deliver real, wholesome food. more

Ok food, might try again 1/14/2011

The BBQ chicken was tender and flavorful but the macaroni-n-cheese was a little bland. The cornbread and collards were ok. I brought the turkey lasagna home to my son and he loved it, I wished I had a taste but he ate every morsel. It smelled delicious. The staff is not rude, but I would not call them friendly either. I might go again to try other dishes but I live in Alpharetta, so it is not worth a special trip. more

I've loved eats since the day they opened it 7/26/2010

Every time I come back to Virginia Highlands I always go to eats three or fout times a week for lunch, BEFORE or AFTER the crowds set in. The crew is always happy and always grill my garlic bread the way I want it. I go for the green pasta with turkey sauce and a side of pesto, or the jerk chicken with greens and beans. Bob the owner is always on the floor bussing tables and there is a great mix of suits, blue collar, and students. I get a kick from the black chicks dressed to the nines. So it's not fancy, but always clean. If you have a hard time getting on to Ponce take a left out of the parking lot and go through the neighborhood to Monroe and go left to head to Boulevard and downtown. Turn left on Ponce from Monroe to head east toward Decatur. They do take plastic, contrary to other reviews and if you need some resturant to make you feel important or to kiss your a*s please go somewhere else away from the neighborhood because we don't want you here. I'd like a place like this in my new town. Pros: Lots of good simple food, not pretentious Cons: I'd only wish they would add the old Tortilla's menu more

one of my most enjoyable dining experiences 7/14/2010

My friend dragged me to this place last week and I had one of the most enjoyable dining experiences in my life. Their food selection was really enticing and I had a very hard time choosing which entr?e to order. Their friendly wait staff recommended their best-sellers, which was very awesome. It was so flavorful. I really liked it a lot. I was definitely pleased with both the food and the service. more

5 STAR FOOD AND SERVICE 4/25/2010

HI This restaurant is really the best ever. Start with the minute you walk in the door the workers are so friendly and so willing to walk a first timer through the menu and the set up. We were there on a Sunday and all workers were young guys with great smiles and very upbeat attitudes. The food that Chef Steven Bacon presents is totally over the top. Start with portion size. It is normally super sized. The Taste is total heaven and you can taste that this food is made with this mans heart and soul plus his natural talent. The menu is simple and straight forward and there REALLY is something for everyone of ALL ages. This restaurant is a ""foodies"" heaven. There are so many choices you can spend forever mixing and matching the combos and never get tired of it. Even the salad dressings are fantastic. I recommend ""EATS"" to everyone and anyone who wants excellent food, great friendly service and fantastic low prices. An added bonus is that it really is a great family place too. I give ""EATS"" a New York 5 Star Rating!!!!!!!!!! Pros: FOOD AND SERIVCE Cons: NONE AT ALL more

Eats 4/24/2009

Two lines of menu: Pasta line, offering even spinach pasta, with your choice of sauces. Meat & veggie line offering my personal fav of Jjerk chicken, black beans & rice, cornbread. Very wonderful. Of course there is more meats and veggies such as meatloaf, sweet potato, collard greens, mac&cheese. They do have a dessert line but I never eat it because I am too full. If that isn't enough to please your senses the crowd always provide entertainment. *Funny... this review site would not let me spell Jjerk the regular way because it was offensive so I had to misspell it :) Pros: Spicy Jjerk chicken Cons: Limited parking more

My Favorite Place to Eat for 15 Years 2/8/2009

I absolutely love eating at Eats. I feel like it was made just for me to eat there. Everything there is perfect. I can't be objective about it. I love this place. I take people there to see if they are cool. If they like it, they're cool. more

great cheap food! 10/21/2008

Oh my gosh! This place was better than I expected. I ordered the erk chicken and 2 sides and was so surprised to get a real 1/2 of a chicken! It was flavorful, filling, and perfect. Their couscous is good and the service was extremely fast. My friend ordered the chicken alfredo and that was the best alfredo sauce we had ever tasted. They need to bottle it and sell it! It's not a pretty restaraunt, but you don't even notice because of the food! I can't wait to go back and try some more stuff!! Pros: great food, filling, cheap, fast Cons: parking, hard to find more

Best J*rk Chicken anywhere 7/14/2008

Eats is cheap and the j*rk chicken is perfect! i have not found better j*rk chicken anywhere else yet. the person who complained about the green beans and chicken i am going to write that off as them being pretentious, as this place is not fancy. I try to get downtown at least a couple times a month to eat here. Pros: great food and cheap Cons: parking is a bit irritating, but worth it. more

I love the inexpensive prices and the variety of pasta with several different sauces and toppings on one side of the restaurant, then homestyle fair on the other. you can get baked chicken, and turkey meatloaf along with vegetables on the other side. whatever your taste, the food is within the budget. Pros: price, delicious food, variety of pasta and home cooking more

great chicken! love eats! 3/15/2008

how can a reviewer mention that they only take cash as their problem? that's YOUR problem. there's an atm there. spiff 'em the 2 bux bc it's worth it for the food. love the people, the food...parking is a pain but worth it. def the best cheap eats when you work downtown. Pros: chicken tastes great, costs little. Cons: hmmm....hard to say...i guess a small parking lot...that's nitpicking though..this place rules more

there's a place in my heart for Eats 1/24/2008

i absolutely disagree with the idea that Eats shouldn't be considered 'romantic'. my wife and i enjoyed our first date there, and then several years later, i saw it fitting to propose to her there. we happen to live in new york city, among any number of cliche 'romantic hot spots', but none would be as meaningful nor as close to home as the far off Eats. we miss it greatly, but always make it our first destination while visiting ATL. thanks EATS!! Pros: reliable, consistent, tasty. great prices more
