Dr Trans Transmissions

I have a older Mazda 2003. It started to have transmission slipping problems I live in the Kearny Mesa Area and check out a total of 3 shops in the area. End up going to dr. trans Chris the manager there was up front and didn't give me good news just to give me bad latter. He gave me three options one was just fixing the parts inside the other was a rebuilt transmission and the other a new transmission as with everything it's a cost to what you want out of my 10 year old Mazda so I chose to get a rebuilt transmission it cost me about 1800 bucks to have dr trans put it in and it’s been going strong for about a year now. The other day I thought I ears a noise coming from my transmission so I stopped by Dr Trans and had them take a look at it. Turn out it was a wire that stuck on some how on my drive shaft, how I don’t know. Chris remove it N/C and I was on my way. Nice that why the shout out and good review for dr trans. more

I own a 1995 Ford F-150 4X4, the old kind with the locking and unlocking hubs in the front wheels for your 4X4 to be engaged and disengaged. Although the truck is old it does not have very many miles on it only 95,000. I bought the truck just over three years ago and it was in great shape then and still is today ?Good? Old Ford Truck?. I took it to Dr. Trans because the four wheel drive had stopped working, I was sure that I was going to get a huge bill as I thought the entire four wheel drive assembly and transmission might have to be replaced. So I drop my truck off at Dr. Trans on a Monday morning, Chris the owner leaves a message on my cell at 9 Am just an hour and a half later to tell me that the hub on the drivers side needed to be replaced and that he recommended that I replace both while I was at it, and that would fix the entire problem. I was delighted! Total cost $200.00. I thought I was going to spend a lot more for a much bigger job. What a great feeling to deal with more

You bet I would recommend Dr Ttrans. how do you really know if a business really does stand behind their work? I took my 2003 Toyota in for a complete transmission rebuild just over 3 years a go in June of 2009, I have had no trouble the entire time with the transmission that Dr Trans rebuilt for me. But just last week I thought I had ad issue with slamming when it changed gears. So I took it back to Dr Trans. they put it up on the rack made a some sort of adjustment and I have been good to go for the last week. The actual transmission was out of warranty, but Chris made the adjustment for free and had I taken my truck in like I should have for that last years free adjustment I probably would not of had this problem anyway. What a great place to do business with, in a day when folks put you on hold ,play loud music you don?t like, and give you solutions that only cost you more money? Dr trans stands behind their work and were nice enough not to charge me dime when they could have more

Oh yea and save a huge amount of money. I had my transmission replaced in my 1996 Acura TL at Dr. Trans. I could have gone out and bought a late model or even new Acura, price tag north of $35000.00. Then you've got to buy full coverage insurance at $2500.00 per year. This is how I came to my conclusion about spending $3K on transmission replacement at Dr. Trans. Re-cycle; by buying a re-built transmission at one-third the cost of a new one from a dealer Re-Use; Keep my old car and not cause anymore carbon dioxide with the manufacturing and shipping of a new car from Japan. I feel good about that. Reduce, the amount of money I have to put into my ride. Now, I know that 1996 Acura will get you on any ?Rides Reality T.V. Show? but the extra savings a year just on car insurance alone is over $1800.00. You do the math on the car payment and down payment, anyway you like on the cost of a new or late model used car. I was in a position of needing a transmission in my 2002 Mazda MPV rebuilt. After going to the dealers and the dealers wanting more than $5,000 for a transmission I started to call around, as it was more than I could afford, after calling various transmission companies, I chose Dr Trans because after my inquiry of cost, time to have repaired and reputation. I chose Dr. Trans because Chris (Owner) was very complete in his description of what needed to be done, what he could do, and what the cost would be. He explained everything in simple terms that I could be understood. When I spoke with Nancy "Customer Service Representative" and over all great gal, arranging for my car to be towed from the dealer to their shop. The work took a little longer then expected because the transmission needed a computer chip. They were more than accommodating due to the delay that was beyond their control. I have never left a message like this so it goes to say that this place is pretty awesome! I had a wonderful experience with this shop. Chris was very helpful and explained everything to me to the point that I left there with no questions asked. Their prices are fair and the quality of their work is great. Back in September I posted this on Google places site for Dr Trans. I thought I'd give it one more post: From the moment I walked in the office door and proprietor Chris, aka Dr. Trans, introduced himself and shook my hand, I had confidence in this business. I was treated like family and like I hope and expect that I would treat others. I received good advice, advice which I felt was fair and accurate. Chris walked me through the problem and the solution to the problem, meeting his financial and time expectations. Major transmission work is never a picnic, but Chris and his staff made swallowing the bitter financial pill palatable and completely justifiable. Finally, staffer Nancy (Chris' better half) very generously and kindly offered me some convenient transportation to and from my home, making the repair all the more palatable. I have a new friend and an honest transmission mechanic, one I may make referrals to with great confidence. more

Took my Eclipse here to diagnose the transmission. The owner said the diagnostic read that my 4th gear wasn't functioning....because the overdrive is the 4th gear. I didn't know at the time but I later found that this car has only 3 gears and an overdrive. I asked many questions about the overdrive and he gave me the impression that the car had 4 gears AND overdrive. You would think a competent transmission shop would know that my car had only 3 gears.... BE AWARE that only the diagnostic is free and I had to wait for a few hours just for them to CHECK it....the whole time listening to christian radio. To really know what is wrong with a transmission they have to open it up....so right there you're in around $800 deep. That's true for any shop but just be aware and be clear on the diagnostic. If I had known more about my car then I would have heard his explanation of the diagnostic and said...thank you goodbye. Anyways, I had to take my car back 3 times and each time they gave me some reason why it didn't work....then the 4th time they failed they were nice enough to return my money. Looks legit....but very incompetent transmission shop. Did not show me old parts. The owner was rude to me and had an attitude that it was my fault the car transmission didn't work. The belts were just replaced on that car and the second time I got the car back a belt squeaked....it did not squeak before I took it to them. After I finished dealing with them the belt actually broke on me one night while driving. These people were rude and incompetent. I give ZERO stars. A couple of months ago, my transmission died in my 2000 Hyundai Elantra. I was pretty upset because I just bought the car a few months before the transmission went out. I always get worried when I need to get my car repaired (who doesn?t?) because I'm a female and a broke college student. I usually get pushed around and I was extremely worried because a transmission replacement is a major repair. I finally called Dr Trans because of the great reviews on the net. I spoke with Chris and he was more than helpful. He gave me an estimate and told me when I should expect my car to be fixed. My car was ready in a week and he dropped of my car that night around 7pm at no extra cost. I live about 15 minutes away from the repair shop. Is that great customer service or what? Oh Boy My Transmission Went Bad And I Need A New One. Along with all the other expenses now my cars transmission started to slip. Any way back in May my transmission went bad I took it Dr Trans in Kearney Mesa they fixed my 02 Buick, I check around and they were about the same price as everyone else however they had a much better warranty got a 3-year deal. So back to my experience with Dr Trans about two weeks ago it started making a like a bolt was loose sound I call them up and they said bring I on. Turns out it was my tail pipe but Dr Trans fixed it anyway they said it could have been them who maybe didn?t tighten it up enough after they replaced the transmission. Dr. Trans offered incredible service. Polite, friendly, caring and did an amazing job replacing our transmission at a very reasonable price.\r we feel they went beyond the call of duty to help us figure out why we were having other issues with our older car. They insisted on taking our car and getting an alignment and rotation and did not want to take any money for it. Not only that they insisted on delivering the car to us as we lived about 30 miles away. we would recommend Dr. Trans to everyone. more

I started to hear a thumping sound in my Mazda and it keep getting louder. After about 3 days I gave Dr. Trans a call on Ruffner Street they told to come in and see them so we could take it out on a test drive. When I arrived Chris took me out and right away he knew what the problem was, the good new was that I did not have to get a whole new transmission and they was able to repair some stuff inside it. Costing way les then I thought it would. I was without my car for only two days and it running great now. more

Always great to save money...I own a Lincoln Navigator 07 and had been pulling a boat to and from my place to the beach, I had just destroyed the transmission. Call around and got the price at Dr. Trans, Not only I get a good deal I'm back for my annual Power Flush and my Navigator runs better then ever and pulls my boat no problem. I would highly recommend the transmission fluid change Chris calls a Power Flush. If I had done this before I probably would not of had to get my transmission re-built. more

Greeted by Chris and Nancy at the front desk, My PT Cruiser has 4-1 side exhaust pipes which are very close to lifting points. The car dealer and 3 other trans shop would not even look at my car. Chris got with 2 of his mechanics and confirm what he had already told me in the office. The noise I was thinking came from my trans was from my turbo. How many shops would pass up that money and tell the truth Picking up the car there were 3 to greet me the 2 above and Crystal. BEST Auto service I ever had. more

As good as it get's that's Dr. Trans. My mini van's transmission went out I took to dr. Trans They did a free check of what they thought was wrong and they fixed in 2 days without having to repalce the transmission just put some new parts and saved me 1/2 of what some other palce wanted to repalce the whole transmissiom. I would recomend Dr. Trans to eveyone in Kearney Mesa or any place in San Diego. more

The Best Place for Transmissions I'm a single mom with a 2001 Dodge Caravan. When I needed to get my transmission replaced . Dr. Trans was recommended, I took my van in and Chris had my transmission replaced in 3 days for less than I was quoted.It's reassuring to know (as a single mom as anybody) that there are still honest businesses. Dr Trans ask me to do a review I said sure, here's why. Looked all around San Diego for a 1992 Honda Civic transmission found one at Dr Trans got what I think was a good price $1,400.00 and they gave me a 3 year guarantee. Been two years and all is fine. Would recommend them to anyone in San Diego who needs transmission repair. more
