The door fit perfectly and the communications of their service department was great. The company even saved me money for the shipping. The only small complaint that I have is that the instructions could have been made easier to understand. Great Product, Great Company would highly recommend for your door needs. more

wrong spring assembly and missing parts 7/18/2012

i ordered the upgraded single twisting spring which they gave me the stock double sping pully assembly. Also the weather seal stuff didn't arrive with the shippment either. Everthing came in one big box so I signed that I got it but infact the order was short. RESPONSE FROM DOORS DIRECT: I looked in to your order and it appears that you ordered extension spring for your door. From your comments I think that you actually wanted the torsion spring system. This could be a mistake in terminology but we always ask our customers to check the order prior to us manufacturing. This is normally when we catch problem like this but it obviously slipped through the net. As for any missing parts we normally send out any missing parts a.s.a.p. after being informed by the customer. I cannot tell by your comments if you contacted us and we sent the parts. more

A great product that was easy to install after viewing the video. 7/18/2012

This is an awesome door! It seems to be very well made. I was able to install it in about 3 or 4 hours. However, the printed instructions that came with the door were as clear as mud. There was no parts listing to ensure I had all the parts before starting the install. Luckily they were all there. Some of the illustrations were confusing and offered little help. One that comes to mind was a cross section of the door and the opening. I was able to understand the printed directions once I watched the online video detailing the installation. If not for the video, it would have taken me significantly longer to install it. The printed instructions definitely need to be improved. more

When customers come to you via the web it's and indication they've done some shopping. I liked the site, but shipping was the deal killer. For this door I bought the same door at a Menards $249 and no shipping. your price 282, 145 shipping big diffrence here RESPONSE FROM DOORS DIRECT: We manufacture and ship from several plants but there is always shipping. We charge shipping at cost and get great discounts from our shipper that we pass on to our customers. We do compete with the big box stores but cannot always be competitive on an in stock pick up door when we have to ship. On our garage doors we have 100s of DCs and can normally offer free shipping within 50mls of a DC and very low cost shipping after the 50ml limit. We are normally very competitive on like for like doors and we do offer a price match guarantee on our doors. more

The process from ordering to the delivery of the shipment was extremely smooth. Shortly after placing the order, the contractor made a change in plans, so we needed a different size. I contacted Doors Direct and they simply said no problem. Got everything changed and new confirmation out to me within minutes. Thanks so much! more

Customer support lacks quite a bit. 7/18/2012

It took a long time to get my order properly fulfilled and only after my incessant and insistent phone calls which many times went unanswered. They screwed the first order up and they would not do anything about getting the proper part number for me. I had to find them on my own after calling Clopay HQ's and the local Orlando Distribution Center. It was almost 3 months before I got all the parts I needed. To add insult to injury when some of the window frames failed after being installed for just a few months they refused to replace under warranty so I ended up paying for new replacement parts. The one thing they have going for them is that they have good prices and were just about the only company around that I could buy the garage door window assemblies from, no one in Central Florida would even talk to me about the window frames RESPONSE FROM DOORS DIRECT: From the photos that we saw it looked like the window frames had been fitted with an electric screwdriver. These tend to over tighten the plastic and will easily crack the frame. more

Excellent Buying Experience 7/18/2012

I purchased a roll up door to replace a garage installation. I had one question during the installation that Buydoorsdirect answered right away. The door itself had a major issue that was not the fault of buy doors direct but of the manufacturer. The holes provided to affix the rails to a wood frame where not large enough to have a socket fit over the lag bolt provided (very frustrating). I had a friend with a reamer bit make the holes bigger. I also had a question about why the door would not go down unless I held the button. That was answered very quickly by a tech. more
