Best Dog Services in the City 3/16/2007

I have nothing but the utmost praise for Dogone Fun. I have been taking my dog there for daycare every single weekday for the past four months and have been completely satisfied with the care and services they provide for both me and my dog. I have a puppy and taking him to Dogone Fun has been wonderful for his socialization. Most imporantly he loves going there! Every morning when we pull into the lot he is already pawing at the glass, and ready to go. He bolts right through each set of doors and right up to the playlot. Moreover, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely good with the dogs. They are all dog lovers themselves. Dan, the groomer, is unparralleled. He is the best dog groomer in the city. Laura, the trainer, is also excellent. She has worked with my dog (a shelter dog) and has broken him of his behavioral issues. Pros: Parking, location, service and staff more

HIGHLY recommended 3/16/2007

My experience with Dogone Fun is the complete opposite of the negative reviews I've seen on this page. I have never encountered anything but completely professional, NICE, and helpful staff, and the facility itself has anything a dog could want or need. My dog cannot wait to go there, and I'm not surprised. Everyone there (Wendy, Ray, Anna, Gina, Nick, Linda, Beverly, etc.) not only knows my dog's name, but his personality, his favorite activities, when he needs extra love and attention, when he needs extra discipline, etc. etc. I get every indication that the staff absolutely LOVE DOGS, and really pays close attention to every single dog there. I have also used their training services (Laura, who is fantastic), and I was in shock at how quickly my dog's bad behavior was replaced with calm, willing, and consistent obedience. To respond to some criticism on this page, yes occasionally they do put my dog in a crate at the end of the day so that he can calm down alone. He is a much calmer dog when I pick him up on those days, actually, because after a long day of playing and wrestling with other dogs, he needs some down-time to relax and take a break from all of the running around and playing. I can only imagine that the people who have had bad experiences either just didn't want to hear that their dog was acting out and had some behavioral problems -- even though it's in their best interest to know that -- or that they were rude to the staff themselves. If my dog could talk, I'm sure he'd say the same things!! Pros: big running space (incl. outdoor), separate sides for big/small dogs, easy parking, staff very nice, selection of great dog products Cons: no drop-offs on sundays more

Horrible for Boarding and for Grooming 3/15/2007

Our dogs came back from boarding scared of everything and everyone. This was completely abnormal for them because they are happy excited dogs that love people more than other dogs. In addition, they came back from their grooming (final day of boarding) still having mattings in their fur, their fur was clipped unevenly, their nails were not clipped and one of them did not have his ear hairs plucked. It was the worst grooming ever, took a long time and was too expensive considering the shotty work. Pros: parking Cons: low quality grooming, suspicious care of dogs during boarding, overpriced more

Do not take your dog here! 3/9/2007

I just picked up my two dogs from this location only to learn that they were placed in cages for an hour out of the 2.5 hours I leave them there for day care! This is unacceptable and they never told me that they were going to put my dogs in cages for ""naptime!"" Not to mention when I pulled up the staff was outside with the bigger dogs ""riding"" them! This is a horrible place for day care! Cons: Poor care for dogs, staff is unacceptable more

Terrible Customer Service-Do Not Patronize 2/27/2007

I have had consistent, terrible customer service at Dogone Fun since I began taking my terrier mix there for playgroup a few months ago. I tried to go through the appropriate channels to deal with the problem (i.e. BOTH owners) and have gotten absolutely zero assistance. I, too, have had nothing but abysmal treatment from Wendy, the morning clerk. As has already been noted here, she has a terrible attitude and is rude to customers. When you have to drop off your animal first thing in the morning, like I do, it gets your day off to a bad start. You would not ever want to leave your dog in the care of someone like this. My dog has a high level of anxiety but does extremely well in comforting environments. There is honestly never a single time that I've dropped him off that he did not bark in protest, and he is always incredibly hyper when I pick him up, like he can't wait to get out of there. That was a sign, to be sure, that all is not well there but I continued patronizing the establishment because it is close to my South Loop home and I have tried, mightily, to give them the benefit of the doubt. Today was the final straw. In addition to having to deal with the rude desk clerk first thing in the morning, they also -- for the second time -- threw away my food bag and didn't bother to even give me a report card today for my dog, which is supposed to be standard. Inconsistent. Not to mention, the clerks badmouth each other and the trainers. Dogone Fun is a loose, messy ship and not a good environment for anybody except perhaps their handpicked favorites (i.e. people who either board their pets or get long-term packages). The funny thing is, I have hesitated getting a package because of the continued poor customer service I received. If I -- or my dog -- had ever once been treated like a valued customer, I would have been happy to continue using them. But I honestly would not recommend Dogone Fun to anybody. Go out of the neighborhood or to Pet Particulars. Pros: Large running space, location Cons: Terrible customer service, poor response from management/ownership more

Low level quality and customer service 1/18/2007

If you really care and love your pet. This is not the place for you. I took my dog twice to this location, both times I had bad experiences. The first time I dropped off my dog in the morning. The recepcionist was very rude and did not know about our reservation. When I picked up my dog that night he was not looking right. When I got home he went straight to his water and drink 3 water bowl. That night he was sick and still dehydrated. Plus we bought a name tag for him, the information was wrong. But we still got charged for the tag. I decided to give this place another chance. So I took the dog, I talked to the owner regarding the dehydration issue. She was very aggressive and also in the defensive side. I picked up my dog that night. What a surprise when I founded out that my dog was in a cage. I did not pay this people for the dog to be confined in a cage. Again, one of the front desk ladies was RUDE; like she did not like her job, if she liked or not that is not my problem. I am the costumer not her punching bag. She brought my dog and one of the managers aproach to me and told me that my dog was aggressive toward the other dogs. That it is a huge lie. My dog is a very friendly animal. Never atacked or growled at any dogs or people. He has been around other animals many times. Then this lady has the courage to tell me that my dog needs some type of ""Socialization Training"" to me that sounds like she wants MONEY. The place is dirty and smells like it has not been cleaned for several days. I understand there will be some smell but this place is really bad about it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. IF YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR PET. Pros: LOCATION AND HOURS Cons: CUSTOMER AND PROPERTY SERVICES AND HYGIENE more

You thought grooming was just a ""doggie hair-cut""? Master Groomer Dan Vaughn and his staff assesyour dog's skin and coat, use the appropriate blend of high quality shampoos and conditioners, and groom your dog using the most recent technology and techniques to minimize stress to your pet. The grooming staff is trained to recognize potential problems such as skin allergies, infections, infestations and even cancerous growths. Sure it's pricier than one of the ""big box"" pet stores, but the best and brightest never come cheap. It's like comparing a Motel 6 to The Ritz Carlton. Pros: Off street parking, pick up/drop off service, convienient to Loop more
