Great Breakfasts 8/28/2002

If you're looking for a great place for breakfast in the ballard area look no further than the Dish. It's quite busy, and you'll probably have to wait for a seat, but it's worth it. Great menu and fresh ingredients. You won't be dissapointed. more

food was good! 8/11/2002

The food here is really good. But on a weekend the wait is very long. i iwould recommend this place but do not go if you are in a hurry. Pros: good food Cons: wait, service more

Frelard eats 8/3/2002

With tentative praise I laud the dishes at the Dish. Tentative only because the word is out on the fantastic food and the lines are long with early and hungry sustanance seekers in the blurred region between Fremont and Ballard. Drive by and wave at the throngs. Pros: food, staff Cons: parking, wait time more

A 50's Throwback! 7/29/2002

I love the food at the dish--it's always hot and very tasty. The breakfast burrito plate is what differentiates from ordinary breakfasts. The use formica tables and tupperware glasses, a perfect setting for the neighborhood. Anything you order is outstanding, but because of the crowds you can wait 20 minutes or more to get your order. They charge for toast, it should be free. But the service almost makes up for it. $11 for breakfast? Yes, once in a while, so it's more of a treat than an everyday luxury. Pros: Hot food, delicious, atmosphere Cons: crowded, overpriced, no free toast more

The staff seemed hurried and oblivious to customers. No eye contact, this was their cash cow: the weekend rush. This meant that our server did not notice that one of her patrons could not eat her dish because it was in a pool of its own egg-y water. I should have spoke up, but I was trying to make a good impression with my breakfast group so I sat there, moving the food around. It was terrible! Pros: nice crowd, wasn't raining inside Cons: poor service, watery egg dishes more

the real dish on dish 7/11/2002

Far and away the absolute worst service we have ever experienced in Seattle or anywhere else. Not only did we have to wait over 40 minutes for our breakfast on an uncrowded weekday morning, but our order was given to someone else. When we asked for some fruit or something to tide us over, we were looked at as if we were crazy. To top things off, after we left the restaurant, a second waitress come over - we assumed to apologize - but wrong: she came to chew us out for being harsh on the waitress. And this is making a very long story short. Aside from the defiantly poor service, the hollandaise on the eggs benedict was packaged, and spinach in an omelet overcooked. Ballard and Fremont have many, many better places to go. more
