Nice place 6/2/2006

Very friendly staff and the food was pretty good. Had a pancake and it was very big. Pros: Trustworthy, cheap, good food Cons: tight squeeze more

FANTASTIC!!! 4/29/2006

I have a favorite breakfast restaurant but decided to try something new today. The Dish is incredible. It's small and you'll wait a while but it's worth it. They have the nicest and most casually friendly staff I have met in a long time. They only take cash or checks and they actually encouraged us to eat and come back to pay later when we realized we only had credit with us. Amazing... The food was the coup de grace, as it was simply fabulous down-home breakfast fare and lots of it. Please give them a try! more

Great breakfast 11/2/2005

A favorite local breakfast spot. Great eggs benedict with crispy hashbrowns and gigantic pancakes. Good tuna melt too. There is a wait on the weekends but they serve free coffee to make it more enjoyable and once you get seated the food comes out fast. more

Best Breakfast Joint in Town 2/10/2005

The only reason my hubby and I go anywhere else for breakfast is Sundays when the wait for a table is (understandably) too long or if it's closed. We've never been disappointed with the quality of food and the service is consistantly fast and friendly. Order an item split with extra spuds for the best portions and price! Pros: great eggs and spuds, friendly service, comfortable space Cons: long waits at times more

MMMmmm! 12/3/2004

This casual, hectic, homely restaurant is a favourite. Though the service is at times a little slow, it is always friendly and unpretentious. What brings us (and nearly all of Ballard and Fremont) back every weekend is their amazing menu, breakfast comfort foods as well as lunch favourites. Though I am not a vegetarian, my most favourite dish is their Vegetarian Eggs Benedict with Spinach, Tomato, and Sauteed Mushrooms. If you're a fan of hollandaise sauce, this is the place to be. Just make sure you get there before 1:30pm! Pros: Menu Choices, Value, Consistency more

Amazing nosh 10/26/2004

I visit Seattle from the UK frequently. The Dish is always on my must visit list as the breakfast is amazing. In fact I shall be visiting next week - I can't wait! Coffee while you wait and the bottomless cup of coffee make this by far the best breakfast bar in town. Sure, it's not ""white glove"" but the service is great (in comparison to the UK and the rest of Seattle).....be sure to sit at the counter - the service is even better. Pros: Excellent potatos, good parking, coffee Cons: , None, None more

Worth the wait 3/26/2004

The Dish dominates. Well worth the wait, especially with the free coffee. Amazing food. Service with a smile. Best breakfast in all of Seattle hands down. Pros: coffee, eggs more

Great comfort food! 3/14/2004

I don't go often, but every time I do, it's great. Expect a wait on the weekends, but it's worth it. The place is cramped... or should I say, cozy?! But the staff is friendly, the servings are generous and tasty. Order the chicken fried steak if it's available. And opt for the scone instead of toast. Yum! more

Good food 10/27/2003

Have been going there for about year. have not had a bad meal in there yet. Service is good. sometimes the wait can be long. I only have 2-3 menu items that I know are good. The potatoes are great. Specials are good too. In all this good place to have breakfast/lunch. The coffee is killer. nice touch about the coffee while you are waiting. Pros: service, good size portions, good value Cons: wait, small, limited seating more

Nightmare 6/19/2003

This was a nightmare of a dining experience. The server started off by spilling coffee on my white blouse, without so much as apology, much less some club soda or bleach. The biscuits and gravy were terrible.....does anybody in this city know how to make good biscuits and gravy? I asked for a spoonful of hollandaise sauce on top of my poached eggs. Instead, I got a bowl of hollandaise sauce on the side, with a charge for it on my bill. In short, poor service, and even poorer food. Pros: cool ambience Cons: Terrible service, Bad tasting food more

Rude Grrls 1/6/2003

This restaurant has the cliquiest group of servers with absolutely no talent for catering to customers. On two occasions my companions have had unsatisfactory meals and no amends were offered. Who wants scrambled eggs surrounded in water? Esp. when they charge $7 for them! Pros: cozy, order simple, good parking Cons: expensive, rudeness, bad service more

The Dish is Tasty! 12/13/2002

The Dish serves up very tasty food -- try the scone which is more like coffee cake. It's worth the wait to be able to watch the people and the traffic on Leary Way. Pros: Great Food, Interesting People, Women Owned Cons: Long Waits on Weekend, Crowded more

Get Real; There is no better 12/12/2002

The Dish-coming from the midwest where breakfast is king or queen; the dish is the best ever. I have feasted at Dayton's Golden Nugget and believe me, the Dish is the ultimate breakfast unless you have a problem with waiting. But wait, if you have to wait, why? Pros: taste, service, taste Cons: parking, but parking, well parking more

the best 11/7/2002

This place has the best breakfast beritos I have ever had. I love that they offer egg beaters. It is vegetarian friendly Pros: delicous Cons: long wait more

I love thgis place! 10/26/2002

The best breakfast this side of the Hudson River! Such a comfortable location with great food and the decency to give you coffee while you wait for a table . . . always go with the scramble. Warning it's not white glove service, but hung over Sunday morning who wants that Pros: food, food, food more

coffee while you wait 10/25/2002

They never let the coffee pot outside get empty. Having coffee while waiting for a table creates an ambience of its own. more

Great food! 9/30/2002

The waits *are* bad on the weekends, for a good reason, it's so good! Best breakfast in Seattle, hands down... Pros: Excellent Food, Super Clean, Nice Music Cons: No Creditcards, Small, Long Waits more

Serves a great breakfast... 9/30/2002

I love a great weekend breakfast. After trying many places in the Seattle area, the Dish is a consistent winner. Great specials, consistently great food overall. The Dish has figured out, people don't mind waiting, as long as there's hot coffee provided. This is one of the many thoughfull things that keeps us coming back. more

Have loved it for four years! 9/26/2002

I've frequented this Frelard locale for four years and enjoy the servers. I usually meet a friend I haven't chatted with for a while on the weekend, as there's plenty of time to catch up while we sip coffee and wait for a table. There's a reason the wait is so long! The food is unbeatable, fresh and has always been perfect in my experience. The fruit plate is not skimpy and the best of the season. I like to order the specials, ALWAYS GOOD! Pros: Fresh Food, Inexpensive, Good parking Cons: Crowded, Small, No Credit Cards more

ordinary! 9/21/2002

I don't understand why there is such a crowd here. I have eaten here many times and I find nothing special with the food, the coffee or the service. Good marketing mabye. more
