Editorial review from GrubHub 2/28/2014

One of the worst Chinese food I have ever had. From horrible tasting mussels to spoiled pork in the lo mein. Eating from Ding How has turned me off to Chinese food for a while. The delivery was 15 minutes early, so "1-star". more

Its typically pretty greasy and unexciting, but it's still some of the better Chinese delivery in Baltimore. more

I Found 3 Bugs In My Food At Ding How TODAY! 9/20/2011

I've visited Ding How for YEARS, since 1999 actually. I love the fact that their lunch specials include soup, spring roll tea, fried rice and the actual entree; however, when I took a client in for lunch today, after raving about it, I was TOTALLY embarrassed to find gnats sitting on my rice! When I explored further, they were throughout the rice as well. I made the waitress aware, and she apologized and rushed to the kitchen to bring out another plate. As we continued to look through our first plate (they left it on the table after we reported the problem), we continued to uncover more bugs! It was stomach turning and gut wrenching! Disgusting! I went to the counter to explain my disappointment to the owner, who just ""waived me off,"" and didn't want to hear or even listen to my complaint. He said, ""Well, bugs fly around. The door opens."" I thought his response was careless and a joke, namely when there are sites, such as this, that allow the consumer the freedom to speak of their experiences in establishments. Never again will I go to Ding How. NEVER! If you like extra protein, by way of bugs, in your food...feel free. more

Awesome Chinese Food 8/3/2011

I love Ding How! The steamed dumplings are the closest thing to dim sum that I have ever ordered in a downtown Baltimore Chinese restaurant. They are very tender and full of delicious flavor. The next thing I ordered was the General Tso Chicken. The sauce was obviously homemade, with tiny pieces of orange zest and ginger in it. Fabulous. The chicken was very crispy and not greasy, like you get in other places. Oh yeah, and the wonton soup is out of this world, crazy good. Besides great food, the service is also a treat. The man behind the bar, who greets you upon your arrival, always has a welcoming smile for you. And our server equally friendly as well as helpful with suggestions. Plus we got complimentary hot tea with dinner, and orange sherbet with our fortune cookies at the end of the meal. This place rocks, for both its food and service. I should mention that the atmosphere takes me back to the sit-down Chinese restaurants that were way more popular in the '80s. It's retro in a cool way. more

pretty good for Baltimore 2/26/2009

Similar to previous reviewer, I'm always on the lookout for a new Chinese place in B-town. Lived in Fells point for 2 years now and tried Ding How for the first time a few weeks ago for dinner. It is really good for a Chinese joint in Baltimore. The service was fast and the food is fresh and not too salty or MSGish. Recommend the chicken with asparagus, lamb, softshell crab, and lobster. The waitress we had was very helpful and honest with suggestions. If you don't feel like driving all the way out to the suburb for good Chinese food, give this place a try. more

Great Lunch at a Great Price 5/8/2008

I have been looking for a decent chinese place in baltimore for what seems like centuries. After seeing the reviews on this place I decided to try it out. It is actually pretty good. I got the chicken with brocolli and it was NOT syrupy..it was perfect. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. My food was ready in less then 5 minutes and it was super economical. I definitely will be going back to this place for chinese in the near future!!! Pros: yummy food, fast service, friendly employees, great lunch menu Cons: parking can be a bit tricky on broadway! more

cheap for lunch 7/28/2007

Ding How has been on Broadway for a long time, and since it never seems crowded, I wonder how they stay in business. The employees are friendly, and happily bring the food fast. I would probably grade this restaurant a C in cleanliness, so if you are hung up on a dirty knife ask for chopsticks. The menu is not long, but contains the usual cheap Chinese standards. I like this place for an occaisional QUICK lunch. You will pay about $5, and receive an eggroll, a soup, and your selection with rice. The dishes seem to run on the sweet side, so opt for something they cannot smother in syrup. You will start eating immediately after ordering, and be back to work just as your hour break is ending. Pros: quick, cheap Cons: don't do a white glove test here more

One Word - Gross 1/21/2006

I live right down the street from this place, in Fells Point. I have tried to give it a shot an several different occasions and it has disgusted me every time. Its the kind of chinese food that's really good in the first five minutes when you're really hungry but after a few minutes you realize just how disgusting it really is. The chicken is very stringy and dry with hard chunks and its covered with this brown sludge that tastes like molasses. The cream cheese wontons were rubbery like they were frozen and thrown in the hmicrowave. The ambience of this place can fool you b/c it appears to be a nice old-fashioned sit-down chinese restaurant with white tablecloths and everything...but beware....the food is horrible! more

More american than chinese 9/8/2004

I went to this restaurant because it was recommended by your site. I was truly unimpressed. I had a fish dish that was supposed to be spicy. Instead, the sauce was sweet, thick and tasted like molasses. I felt I was having dessert. If you want authentic chinese food, go somewhere else. more
