Best

Diesel has a delicious lineup of salads, sandwiches, and pizzas (my favorite!). I've been on Friday night twice, and there has been live music and lots and lots of people eating ...

Worst

Pizza not bad and salads good. Service is really bad. Finally had to flag over a different waiter. Most of the waiters were in the main room talking, even though it was Friday ...

Good food, TERRIBLE service 12/28/2008

I will never go back. We ate lunch on a Sunday afternoon - were 1 of 2 tables in the whole restaurant. Our waitress was so rude, the first words out of her mouth were ""what do you want to drink"" in a short unfriendly tone. It took her an additional 15 minutes to come back for our food order (which we waited over 30 minutes for - it's not like the place was busy). All of the waiters were back in a corner on a laptop not paying attention to the 2 tables of customers in the restaurant. She did not ask us once how our food was and we waited another 20 minutes once we were done eating for her to collect our plates. Did not offer us any dessert and just threw the check on our table. The food was good but the terrible service has driven us away for good. more

No long have to drive to the highlands for good pizza and a beer. 12/17/2008

As former Midtown-ers that used to drive to Va Highlands for good beer and pizza (Everybody's which we still love), we can now just drive down the street and have the same fun. Our 2.5yr old daughter loves to dance to the music and we love to sit and watch her enjoy while eating great pizza and a pretty darn good beer list. more

Great Idea 11/10/2008

I am very surprised by the negative reviews. I have been to Diesel several times and will continue to be a regular. I will have to state in the beginning it did take a while for our food to come out, but is that unusual for a brand new restaurant? I have seen Diesel really step up to the plate in a very short time and the learning curves are non existent at this point. I recommend Diesel to all age groups. The staff is extremely personable and responsive. Pros: Above average for a pizza joint Cons: Parking more

Pizza and atmosphere is awesome!! 10/26/2008

This place is amazing! The atmosphere is kinda rock n' roll, kinda alternative. Wait time was average and in accordance with other places in the area. (you can expect long waits for any restaurant in the area!) Wait staff seem a little new and could use some better training. However, I can't believe the bad reviews posted on here! Those people must not like to hang out and have a great time! The music is awesome and pizza is best in the area! I've been everywhere else in that area and am tired of the same, boring crowd that shows up! So my friends and I are so excited to have a new cool place to eat and drink at! Pros: Food, drinks, music Cons: Parking, some staff members. more

Worst service ever 10/26/2008

Diesel was what i was hoping to be a great replacement for freelands pizza ""the burb"" (just down the road, had a kitchen fire about a year ago and has not reopened) boy was i wrong. i have been 3 times to diesel all hoping each experience would be better than the previous. again wrong! this place as previously stated by some other reviewers has a great potential to become a great pizza place in the area. however it seams as if to save costs on employees the management decided to hire a wait staff that had ZERO experience in the restaurant industry. all three time we have been there it has taken well over 20 min to get drinks, 2 of the times it took 20 min just to have someone come talk to us (they were never that busy, there were always members of the wait staff just standing around). the wait staff knows absolutely nothing about the menu, if you ask a question expect the ""i can find out"" response and then never getting an answer. there have been multiple times where one or more people in our group has had an empty beer glass/ drink on the table, and just to get one of the 3-4 Waters/ waitresses that were standing around to come by and even ask if you wanted another/ a refill was near impossible. Pros: Close to home, sometimes the pizza is ok Cons: terrible service, unknowledgeable wait staff, plan to wait 30 min while the wait staff stands around more

Good pizza and a great addition to the Roswell restaurant scene. 10/20/2008

After reading some of these reviews I was a little hesitant to try Diesel, but I'm very glad that I did. My wife and I found the pizza to be excellent. The crust was sort of a New York style, maybe a little thinner. It added a nice crunch to the pie. The sauce and cheese were good, and the price right. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. I'd recommend as one of the better pizza experiences I've had in Atlanta and one of the best in Roswell. Pros: Great pizza, cool atmosphere. Cons: Parking is a little tricky. more

try it out 10/20/2008

Well i wanted to start off by saying, yes the servise was a bit slow at times but to go and bas the manager? She is trying to run a business. Not that easy. And especially bashing her about having her kid with her? who does that? It's family atmophere and she has a kid and a new buisness. Give her a break. But i do agree the servise needs work. I think with a few changes with table numbering and time they will get the hang of things. I went there with some friends and it took about an hour over all. Which is kind of long but if your going to go out to dinner at a pizza place you have to realize pizza takes time to cook. But ill be visiting agian. Pros: good food, inexpensive, nice open kitchen Cons: service kinda slow more

Great Idea Poor Execution 10/12/2008

Diesel has very good pizza, we have eaten there twice and both times the food was great and was brought out quickly. The second time we went there was on a Friday night it was rather busy towards the time we were leaving. When we got our bill we gave them a coupon, she ran the card without putting the coupon on it she had to get a manager to void the ticket. She voided not only our ticket but our friends as well. She took our cards back to run the ticket again at this time it have been no shorter than 30mins. She then charged my card TWICE and our friend was not charged at all. Good this we noticed, now she had to void the ticket again and run them both again. The skinny frail looking manager came over and says ""oh sorry about all the confusion but we voided the tickets, ""while never bringing me a voided reciept and not taking anything off our bill AT ALL. We waited 45mins for them to clear up this thing with our bill and in the end I have FOUR charges on my credit card. If you want to pay for more than you eat then you should go here!! Pros: Ambience, Cheap beer, Cons: Experience of the manager more

Don't go if you value your time and money! 10/6/2008

OK, this is my first time to write a review. I have never seen it worth the effort, let bygones be bygones. But I have to after tonight's experience. We were very excited about the arrival of Diesel, we have been looking for a good pizza place. I have to say that we did NOT find it at Diesel. I do want to say that the food was okay. My daughter said the grilled cheese was GREAT and the hummus was tasty. But here is our night.....parking is awful. I asked about more parking options, as my husband was meeting us and there were no more spots. The waitress was not very helpful, nor kind, in her answer. Once our drinks finally arrived (keep in mind, only the tables outside were full, so not very busy night) She spilled an ENTIRE glass of lemonade on my husband!! It took about 20 minutes from when we sat down and actually got cleaned up and got to order. The menu has pizza by the slice. When I tried to order a slice, she informed me they only do this in the afternoon. This is not listed on the menu. I then ordered a pannini to be told that they do not carry either of the breads that are listed on the menu - only hoagies that is listed under sub sandwiches. I ordered a salad, which was acceptable, but to find out when my sandwich arrived that it came with a salad - she failed to point THAT out to me (not listed on the menu). While we waited for our food, we watched a family get up and move their table and chairs to allow a car to back up out of their parking spot! One of my daughters got her meal when I got my first salad. My sandwich came once she was done and the waitress informed us (after a 40 minute wait) that she had staggered our orders so everything would not come out at once!!! So my husband and other daughter got their pizza when I was halfway done with my meal. Essentially we all ate in shifts!! Unbelievable! On top of all of that, at the end of the night we saw one lady in the kitchen licking her fingers while cooking! Need I say more?! Pros: Food was okay Cons: Service, Parking more

Great New Place 10/6/2008

I think that many of these reviews are unfair, this place is brand new and there will be issues to be worked out. That being said, I went there Saturday Night and Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed both times. I thought the pizza was very good, and our service was great. On Saturday the owner and General Manager came by to check on us and were very friendly. It is great atmosphere and a local spot that has been long overdue in Roswell, for those of you that had a bad experience please try it again and support this local establishment that is within walking distance for many of us. Pros: Food, location, ambience more

Really bad.... 10/4/2008

Um, to the earlier reviewer whom used profanity and also does not know how to spell...it didn't sound like the other reviewer was ""knocking"" a working mom but rather taking issue with the disrespectful way she says her husband was treated. more

Family Restauant- Appauled by the fact that customer knocked a working mom 9/28/2008

I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER BITCHED that the owner took their order with her child in hand. All the world to that mom who is running a business and taking care of her child at the same time. I have brought my children to the restuarant and they loved it. It is a family place and sometimes you need to do what you need to do to make your business and family survive! Pros: Family (including kids) loved it Cons: None to report more

Best Pizza Packed Every Nite 9/28/2008

I have to disagree with many of the complaints that Diesel Pizza has received. If you see a packed house and have to wait in line for a table, you should not expect a 15min turn around in food. That is what Papa Johns and Dominos is for. Gourmet pizza made and tossed to your liking takes a bit longer than throwing in an already made pie with your added toppings. Obviously these pepole do not eat out very often in the Roswell neighborhood. The food is fabulous- pizza, subs and paninis. Full bar and great $5 martinis ...and red wine is suppossed to be served warm...HMMMM. Pros: Full bar, great food, cool atmosphere Cons: Park in the canton street public parking area should there be a problem more

Rift Raft Pizza Bar 9/27/2008

I love Roswell and I'm always excited to try the new local eateries. However, what a GIANT disappointment Diesel was. For starters, the atmosphere was just blah. As soon as you sit down, you are anxious to leave. There were plenty of open tables (it was 7:00 on Sat night) and half of them were dirty and the staff was just hanging around. Once we were seated, we were just surrounded by what I can only describe at rift raft. And as it turns out, I was right! The guy sitting next to us (totally wasted and crude) tried to start a fight with my husband, yelling obscenites, etc. All for pulling for a football team the rift raft wasn't pulling for. The pizza was average (Pizza is my favorite food and it's tough for me NOT to like it), the red wine was HOT and undrinkable, and although I asked several times, I never got water. It's sad...Diesel has so much potential. If they replace the staff and clean up their act, they MIGHT have a change to survive. Pros: There are no pros Cons: See my review...too many cons to mention here. And by cons, I think they literally have CONS there. more

Skip the pizza, go for the SUBS 9/27/2008

Okay, we have been waiting for this place to open so we ordered take out just to try it. I saw the bad reviews were mainly for service, so we decided to go for take out. We called, placed the order, and it was ready and waiting for us when we arrived 20 minutes later. We ordered a large cheeze pizza and a meatball sub and chicken parm sub. I thought the sauce on the cheeze pizza had too much of an acidic tomato taste. It was on a thin crust - and the kids liked it, but I have had better local pizza. The subs, however, were the best we've had... I had the chick parm, and it had a spicy kick to it and was the perfect mix of fresh plump parm chicken, with spicy marinara and chewy hoagie bread. The basil on top was great and made the sandwich!!! It came with a side salad (unexpected) with a balsamic vin drizzle. My husband ate the meatball parm and he raved about it - he said it had big hunks of meatball and it also had a kick. He loved it - we will definitely put it in our repertoire of regular take out restaurants. Hubby said he loved the atmosphere in the short time he was there. Pros: Subs are excellent (Meatball & Chick parm) Cons: Not crazy about the thin pizza more

Absolutely TERRIBLE!! Do not waste your money. 9/25/2008

I really can't convey how disappointed I was with Diesel. I had friends visiting from out of town and thought it would be a great time to try a new place in our neighborhood. The service was abyssmal, seriously. I think I've been to every restaurant in Atlanta, and this was by far the laziest, slowest, and sloppiest service I ever saw. We waited forever to be seated while the waitresses stood around and talked instead of cleaning off an available table. We sat another 15 minutes before our drink orders were taken and when the remaining members of our party arrived, no one ever came back to get their drink orders. The antipasto platter appetizer was $7.25 and again took about 20 minutes to arrive (I mean, 20 minutes to put some olives and greasy cold cuts on a plate?) The pizza was average at best; upon request I received some of their ""special dipping sauce"" which was a stone cold, slimy garlic-butter concoction . They had to be asked twice to bring enough silverware and plates, and one of our party's orders didn't arrive until 15 minutes after the rest; we shared our food with her while we waited. They never asked about drink refills and didn't even check on us until we were finished. We ordered cannolis for dessert; they were TINY and the pastry was hard as a rock. The music was BLARING so that we couldn't even hear each other speak. Finally, my husband had to actually go chase someone down to bring us our bill which was an unbelievable $75 for one small pizza, one large pizza, a sandwich, the nasty antipasto platter, and the cannolis. All told, the whole ordeal took almost 2 hours on a Thursday night! My friends insisted I should complain, but I just wanted to get out of there. My husband did go back to complain to a woman I guess was a manager; she was carrying her baby around with her. She was rude and condescending and said, ""well you could've asked to have the music turned down"" and finally just dismissed him with, ""Sorry you feel that way."" Pros: The restaurant had nice ambience. Cons: TERRIBLE service, overpriced, rude management more

Great atmosphere - Mediocre Food and Sub Par Service 9/24/2008

Diesel has just opened, so our standards were pretty low. Located in a former gas station, the ambience, look, and feel of the place is great. It has great potential to be a new hotspot in Roswell. However, there are several big issues. There is very inadequate parking, which is not really the fault of the owners. The service is really slow. While we got most of our food on time, nearly every other table around us left disappointed. The table right next to us was served 3 meals for 4 people, then the last person got their meal in a styrofoam tray about an hour after the other 3 had eaten. The pizza was thin and greasy, and the ""full bar"" included only 3 draught selections. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Poor service more

Best Pizza in Roswell 9/22/2008

I will preface this review by saying that it is inappropriate and unfair to rate a restaurant that has been open for less than a week. The staff is still learning the ropes, the kitchen is learning how to work together and work efficiently, etc. However, I felt it necessary to add my review because of the other person who ""reviewed"" the restaurant and more or less slammed the service and the food. This restaurant opened on 9/16/08, so all reviews on this page (good or bad) should be read with that in mind. Pros: Great pizza & sandwiches, great location, nice ambiance, friendly service. Cons: Parking will be a problem during peak business hours. more

Okay pizza, terrible service 9/22/2008

I, too, have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Diesel Pizza. There is a definite need for this type of restaurant in Roswell. However, my first visit was a complete disaster. Although I was promptly seated, I waited 15 minutes for a server to take my drink order. It appeared that there were only two servers, but a host of other staff (bus or runners?) that were just standing around. The restaurant wasn't even busy. Much to my surprise, the pizza arrived quickly after I placed the order, but that is because I was given the wrong pizza. When the server brought the check, it was also for the wrong table. Perhaps the most offensive issue was the lady standing at the indoor bar holding a dog. She walked around the building with it as if it was completely natural, and some of the servers/bus/runner staff would stop by occasionally to pet it. I fully expected to find dog hair in my pizza! Overall, the food was good but not great. It was certainly not good enough to put up with the constant stream of service errors. I understand that the restaurant just opened, so I will give them some time to iron out the wrinkles. Right now, however, I can say with certainty that the restaurant needs an experienced manager or it will not stay in business. Pros: Atmosphere, vibe, energy Cons: Mediocre pizza, terrible service, dog on the bar more

Great atmosphere. The food is even better! 9/19/2008

I've anticipated their opening the past few months, while they're been renovating the building. Well worth the wait! The former gas station has been renovated into a fun atmosphere with beautiful photos of classic autos. It's like a comfortable neighborhood pub, but the food is better than your average pub. Pros: Ambience, Menu, open late more
