Best

We took our 2 year old here and she loved it! The prices were reasonable. We rented the little push cart jeep thing and it worked out great. I forgot to bring a hat but the gift s...

There is NO smoking area on the zoo grounds, so, if you are a smoker, unless you want to walk half a mile or more to have a cigarette, the zoo is not the place for you. (In case ...

Get a family membership. That way, you can go as much as you want for as long or short as you want. A great deal! more

Small size compared to many zoos makes this easier to see it all with tired little feet! more

This is one of the best zoos I have ever been to. They have a large array of animals and it is a lovely place to spend the afternoon. Unfortunately it can be quite expensive so your best bet is to try to find a free day or to get a membership. They have lots of great family focused events. more

The animals and the exhibits are very easy to see and access--unlike larger zoos. Many people bring their own wagons to pull their kids around the zoo. more

Smokers Not Welcome 9/10/2005

There is NO smoking area on the zoo grounds, so, if you are a smoker, unless you want to walk half a mile or more to have a cigarette, the zoo is not the place for you. (In case someone feels the need to respond to this with a politically correct diatribe about the harmful effects of smoking, save it--all of us smokers already know.) This zoo is ok, but not anything special compared to other zoos; we also thought that the maps were not very helpful in finding exhibits. The park in which the zoo is located is wonderful, but we will skip the zoo in the future. Pros: Location, In nice City Park, Clean Cons: Poor maps, Poor signs, No smoking more

Fun at the zoo -- best option is for membership if you are going to go more than twice in one year. Great benefits -- well worth the cost of membership. We attend about once a month and LOVE IT. more

Kids are free but adults are $11. Bring a picnic lunch because the offereings are more along fried food and hamburgers. Don't forget to take a train ride and whirl around on the carosel (another $2 each). more

Best times to go are during the weekday and in the mornings. Usually animals are in pens/homes when it's hot out. more

Bring your own food, but plan to splurge on ice cream. Great activity for a beautiful day, but don't plan to spend all day if you've got young children. more

The zoo is really small but a great place to bring kids to. There are free days during the year sponsored by the Scientific and Cultural Foundation more

We love the Denver Zoo. We have a membership so we definitely get our money's worth. Even if your kids are too young to enjoy it, it's nice for moms to get outside and walk around. more

Buy a family membership! It is very worth it. We sometimes go when the weather isn't so ideal. Then most animals are out and theres always a parking place close! On a snowy day, Tropical Discovery is a must! more
