After living in Shakopee for almost 8 years, I have been to Dangerfields a number of times. I've had holiday parties in their basement "event center", tried the Sunday Brunch and...

Psycho Owner 1/14/2011

The owner is extremely rude to customers and staff. The food is cheap, would rather eat at a fast food restaurant! more

Takes Reservations,Great Setting, Super Service & Food 4/24/2010

We've dined here off and on for over 20 yrs. We make reservations, are seated on time, have professional and gracious servers, the menu is full of choices and prices, the wine list is ample. The salads & soups are special & arrive with popovers, entree's arrive hot and done the way they were ordered. The place was full of happy people when we were there tonight. This is the way we usually find Dangerefields. I read other reviews & suspect that the marginal ones were either at the wrong resturant or under the influence of something when they got there. Pros: Reservations, Setting on River, Selection, Service Cons: Didn't see any more

HORRIBLE management 8/27/2009

The one star is simply for the ambience and popovers. We had tried booking a room for a special event. First, Gus, the owner, double booked and tried moving us elsewhere, to a room that would not fit our party size. Then, when we went to meet with him, he was late to the meeting, could care less that we were there, and didn't make any effort to apologize for 1. changing our event booking or 2. not being able to accomodate. This place has completely gone down the tubes. The owner is not about service or pride in his restaurant. Pros: Popovers Cons: Management, service, special events more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE 4/12/2009

Made a reservation for Easter. Owner did not get the name right. He had a person written down that was close but not my name. I said that was most likely the one. HE seemed like he did not believe us even though I told him what day and times he had said where available and he confirmed that was correct. He then proceeded to put us in a make shift lower level basement area that looked like a bunch of card tables with cheap clothes. The table was jammed into a corner next to the buffet line so all the people waiting where pressed up against our table and there was a door right behind one of the chairs that the waiters had to use to get to the kitchen. On top of that an air conditioner loud as can be was running a few feet from the table. The buffet looked like a third country buffet ( I could put on as good a spread with a couple of heat trays). Needless to say we did not stay and ended up at a much nicer buffet for the same price with three times the options and selection. I would not waste my time and hope nobody else will waste their time. When I mentioned we were leaving and he could give the table to someone else the owner was not even concerned or surprised. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, NEVER WILL EAT AT THIS DUMP!!!! Cons: CUSTOMER SERVICE more

Sadly going downhill 10/20/2008

My family and I used to love coming here but things keep getting worse everytime we go back. The service has gotten so slow and the food is just not the same quality and taste that it used to be. The dining room is stil beautiful and the view breathtaking but it doesn't make up for the high prices you pay to eat there. The portions are much smaller than they used to be and the food tastes like it has been frozen. Sad to say, unless the owner changes things for the better, we won't be back to Dangerfields. Good luck. Pros: Ambience Cons: Poor service, low quality food with high prices more

Avoid this restaurant if you can... 9/17/2008

The owner is only about making money. The downstairs basement is so full of filth that I am surprised the *** has not shown up. The owner reuses all of the leftover food for the next weeks meals and Happy Hour. Gus ( The owner) hates women so you will never see a Female Bartender in his facility. On Thanksgiving Day the entire staff has to work 10 hour days without a break or a meal. I have personally seen a cook drop a food order on the floor and serve it to a customer. One of the cooks drinks alcohol all day and night while he cooks up food for the customers. If you want quality I would suggest that you do not go to Dangerfields. It is very overrated. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Food is not of high quality more

good memories destroyed 8/19/2008

Reputation is all that's left 3/22/2008

As a 39 year resident of Shakopee I've seen this restaurant go through several changes. The current owner seems satisfied in simply trying to get by on their past good reputation. The service and food have both seen their quality spiral downwards. The owner has cut corners where they just should not be cut. The same is true of Panzanella's, also owned by the same person. There's simply nothing left on which to base a reccomendation for this restaurant. Sadly, the chains like Applebee's, Chili's, and Ruby Tuesdays are better choices when dining in Shakopee. Pros: Deck in summer on Mill Pons is very nice Cons: Food, Service, Staff Attitudes more

Service? 1/29/2008

The service at this place is terrible! We walked into the bar and they were short staffed, so there weren't any servers for the bar. We had to place our drink order at the bar and waited for about 25 minutes for a server to show up to get an appetizer. 3 different people either picked plates up or delivered food, which was not very good to our table. Cheese on the sandwich was similar to plastic and the chicken in the wrap sandwich is so dry it stuck in my throat - because we couldn't find our server, who according to her 'was trapped way in the back and couldn't make it out....' I couldn't get water. NEVER again. Not even worth the time it took me to write this. Ick - Dangerfield's. Pros: Free Parking Cons: Service, Restrooms, and service more

very nice service 11/4/2007

This restaurant is very attractive upon entering. Seating was timely. Our server was very smiley and knowledgable, however, could not apologize enough for the long wait for the food (she almost seemed embarassed!). After she assured us this does not happen very often, our food was served to us, and it was delicious (I recommend the wallleye). The atmosphere seemed to be a bit hectic, but under control. I would recommend this restaurant to others, based on this dining experience. more

Absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had! 10/27/2006

We were seated and waited 20 minutes until we notified the host that we had not seen a server. He then sent a server over, and he took our drink order three times. We also ordered appetizers at the same time, and they came and were eaten before the drinks arrived. I notified the manager that we were still waiting for our drinks (forty-five minutes later), and he informed us that he would take care of our drinks. The drinks came and we waited another twenty minutes before we could place our order. When the food arrived finally, two of our orders were incorrect. The prime rib my father had ordered was a little thicker than a tortilla. This is the first time we have ever been at this restaurant, and the very last time. It was my father's birthday and by the end of this horrible experience we didn't even want his dessert. We told the waiter it wasn't his birthday so we could get out of there. By the time the bill finally came, not one item was comped and two hours had passed. If it weren't for the company, this night would have been a total wash. Take my advice, and never visit this restaurant. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Over - rated! 7/30/2006

We had been looking forward to brunch at Dangerfield's - it is advertised as a ""place to go"". We found it to be a disappointment, except it has a comfortable atmosphere - warm decor. The brunch items were not regularly replenished (kept running out), the biscuits were hard as rocks, the butter at the bread table ran out and we never saw any more butter, food quality/taste was poor (except for the ham), and the wait staff was ""swamped"" so service was lacking (provided that was the reason). Pros: Nice decor Cons: Too warm (becuase of the heat wave?); disappointed in food and service and price. more

Best Sunday buffet in town 6/13/2006

We have enjoyed Dangerfields Sunday Buffet numerous times over the past year and have always found the service to be extraordinary. The food selections are to numerous to mention. My wife and I select a different restaurant in the twin cities every week for Sunday brunch and I must say Dangerfields in Shakopee is right up there with the best of them! more

Don't Believe The Hype 12/14/2005

Everyone says its great so we gave them a try. We ordered a N.Y. Stip- Medium Rare, tried their Chicken Scampi, and tried a soup and a house salad. We also had wine to start our meal, so we would think. When ordering our wine the server had NO IDEA about any of the wines and she just asked US if it was a red or white wine. When we got the soup it was cold and had to be reheated and the salad was very basic. 15 minutes after we finished our first course we finally recieved cold bland pasta and a well done steak. We sent both back to the kitchen for them to try again. She Then offered dessert. I asked if they where homemade and she remarked they come to us frozen. Now I just laugh thinking how we wasted over FIFTY DOLLARS on that DISASTER!! Pros: Nearby, Cheap Wine Cons: OverCrowded, Poor Quality Food, Weak Service more
